  1. Making the return edge fit with a iron is not that hard to do. Just take your time do a little then move on. Don't get the iron too hot. Test it on some scrap first.
  2. At least they are letting people download what is rightfully theirs. That is just about the only thing they can do to get people to even take a second look at photo bucket. Definitely a last ditch effort. They should not have done people thd way they did.
  3. I'm not sure about that , I don't have that type of armor. Mine was from WTF. It came out of the box all shiny. That is a good question that needs to be answered by someone with that make of armor. Definitely, before you start gluing things together. You may just want to use clear coat if you do have to paint. Until you get an answer you could start fitting your parts. (Trimming to your size) Remember to always measure 3 times and cut once. Or trim only a little at a time until you get your desired result. It's hard not to be in a hurry, I know. But it's better than waiting on new parts because you accidentally trimmed to much. And go back and read up on some build threads. Alot of them tell you what not to do also.
  4. Congrats on BBB day. wish I could say I can help , but I've never owned an RS kit. plenty of people on here that have though. don't worry you will do just fine. Remember there are no dumb questions, only the ones that never got asked. So always ask if your unsure.
  5. Yikes, . Ummm, wow dude. Not to sure what to do about that. I would PM Walt and get another pair on the way' In the mean time, try your best to fix the ones you have. The experience you get will be priceless compared to the cost of some new shins. I learned to be careful with a heat gun by trying to make things with ABS other than armor. It will deform quick on you.
  6. Some people think they have to try and save the world from itself. As if they have a far higher intellect than the rest of us peons.
  7. Everything went very well. Huge turn out at Third Eye Comics in Annapolis MD, free comic book day. I think we ended up with about a dozen representing the 501 st. We were definitely a hit.
  8. First troop in my TK today. Revenge of the fifth.
  9. It definitely makes a difference when your armor fits snug. Being all loose and clanging around makes it hard to walk in. Like David said , get some foam padding a experiment with it until you find what works best. Just tape it in until everything feels right. Then maybe velcro it in. I wouldnt glue it in. We do alot of sweating and you end up with some glued in permanent body odor. Kinda like what happens to your hockey equipment, if you know anyone who has played hockey they will tell you about that. But if velcro is used then you could pull it out and hand wash it. Make clean again. No smelly troopers .lol.
  10. Just got accepted into Maryland Old Line Garrison
  11. Request status change to 501st please. https://www.501st.com/members/displaymember.php?userID=27784&costumeID=124
  12. Thanks for the advice Walt. And by the way , I just got approved for the 501st with one of your ANH TKs.
  13. I used E6000 on mine and didn't have any discoloration at all. This is the first I've heard of any discoloration issues from anyone. Mine dried clear and is still clear on areas inside where I can see the glue. If it does happen , it must take more than a year . Maybe a couple of years.
  14. I have used MDF. Not too hard to use but you some times have to use some Bondo on the mold to keep it from looking wavy. When sanding the MDF sands more easily than the glue does. Most times you have more than one piece of MDF glued together. After sanding you end up with small ridges where the glue is. So you have to use bondo then more sanding to smooth it out.
  15. Looks like your shim is too big for the kidney plate. If you take a couple inches off both sides it will tighten everything up for you. If you are a little big in front then your armor is going to fit very snug around the middle. That's ok. You could also look into bringing the chest and back closer together at the shoulders. A combination of both will leave room for a snack, not a whole lunch. You will have to experiment with it a little before making your cuts, so you don't cut too much.
  16. All limbs and torso are 120 each. Belt is 100. They all come with cover strips . Arms come with hand plates. Legs I believe came with knee ammo packs and so forth. Now let's see if they can ship the parts out in less than a year.
  17. I tried that, both long together. Couldn't get things to line up at all , nor could I get the sniper knee to fit on either side. Not anywhere near close.
  18. Also use an area of about 3 " to 4" of adherence to ensure a decent hold.
  19. It's done like that quite regularly. Just use plenty of glue, you don't want it mushing out the sides but be generous.
  20. The ears are an exercise in futility. Trim the front and it changes the back , trim the back to help the front , now the top and bottom don't fit any more. so you scratch your head and say maybe it will fit tomorrow. Lol. Good luck with the rest of the build. I'll keep an eye on your build. Looks like it's going to turn out good.
  21. Keep using the E 6000. If you do make a mistake on the knee plate , you can take it apart and retry. Clamping that sucker together can be a trick sometimes. It likes to move while being clamped because of the angles.
  22. The open area that you see from the top between the shin and knee plate will still be there. And there will likely be some gaps on the underside close to the cover strip Your coming along nicely.
  23. That looks about normal, believe it or not. It will fit a little better after you place the cover strip on , which runs all the way up and under the knee plate. when gluing it on be sure to do the middle with a really good clamp and then glue the sides.
  24. Have you glued the shins together yet?
