  1. I used some black primary wire from home depot. Coiled it around a pencil about 6 times then attached it to counter and power cells. I've heard of some people using wire from an old electric shaver . Because it was already coiled. The way I did it worked fine only cost a few bucks. You can buy it in small rolls. 14 ga. I believe it was.
  2. I'm going to second or third or whatever these guys are saying about the tactical helmet padding from Amazon. I ordered some , it looks and feels great. Very easy to install 5 min. you can't go wrong there.
  3. I watched it with my welding helmet. Was pretty cool. It got a little dark where I was. Not real dark. Southern Maryland, glad I'm not working down there tomorrow, long drive. But not many clouds , was a nice view.
  4. There is a long wait currently for Anovos. I've been waiting since February. I've also recently heard of people waiting in excess of one year. Had I known this I would have bought from one of the others. I've thought about canceling my order , not sure how long it would take to get my money back. I think I may just get some more money together and order another from Walt. WTF. He is currently at about 650 USD. just for armor , no soft goods. But I'm getting the impression that I will end up with better armor and only 6 to 8 week delivery. Well worth the extra money if you ask me. Waiting for Anovos isn't cutting the mustard. Otherwise , most people say that Anovos armor is not bad if you take care it. Pretty much the same with all of it. Reinforce the heavy wear and tare areas with some scrap ABS.
  5. I have the same problem with taking those random photos. I get too busy building and forget the pics.
  6. It's a shame you know. Because someone actually put a lot of work into making these molds. It's just that they are not accurate. They need to get a hold of some accurate armor then make some molds while having something good to look at.
  7. I'm gonna have to agree with Dan. The helmet is off , the shoulder bells are too big . Looks like the arms are the same mold for left and right, shins also. Just to name a few things that stand out. You would not gain approval with this armor I think. Your better off spending your money on something that is vetted. Already approved. Most bargain basement armor is priced lower because they are having trouble selling it. Because it is 2nd rate,...... or 3rd. You will actually save money if you are looking for 501st approval by going with the vetted armor.
  8. 2 years, .......... they should not let people wait that long. I've been waiting 6 months for a TK kit. Realistically looking at least 3 more months wait time. Anovos is obviously getting worse with delivering product. That bucket does look nice though. It would be hard for me to make it into a display. Lol. I would have to put it on all the time.
  9. You also may want to wear the boots that you will be wearing with the armor before doing any trimming on the calves. That way you know exactly how they will fit. Different shoes will likely cause the lower leg armor to wear a little higher or lower depending on the shoe.
  10. After doing my research for many months, waiting for anovos to send my tk kit I've come to the same conclusion. I'm going straight for centurion level. That way I get the best looking armor without spending extra time and money later to make it look as good as can be. I'll be spending my time and money building a second. Probably a TD. Sandtrooper. Good luck, and read a lot of tutorials while you wait.
  11. It depends on what you want to do with it. Personally, I wouldn't spend my money on it as it is very thin armor and prone to cracking . Also would need a lot of work to get a shine out of it. Not so sure if you could get it accepted for use in the 501st. Like I said it depends on what you are wanting to do with it. It might take more time any money to get it accepted for use. There are probably some other reasons why not to buy,but you will have to decide that based on what you want to do with it.
  12. I would try putting together one arm completely then trim it to fit you properly. Then move on to the next arm. Any where that you have pieces that must interact with other pieces or must avoid interactions with other pieces, use the method described previously. Remember, you can always cut some material off. It's hard to put it back and make it look right. So when in doubt measure 3 times and cut 1 time. Or cut off less than you think. You can always trim off some more to make it fit better. Be cautious, pieces are expensive to replace.
  13. Better to leave it that lenth and see how it fits with the rest of the armor. Then you can tweak things a little if need be.
  14. 1 If you have any small pieces of ABS you could reinforce that area on the inside of the return edge . 2. You could make some ABS paste to fill in the cracks after the area has been reinforced. Paste is made with ABS scrapes and acetone. Not sure about the mixture ratio, you could find out from some of the experts around these parts. Anyway, that's what I would do to fix the cracks. As far as making them wider or bigger to fit your arms, you may have to buy some bigger ones. Keep asking around though, someone else might have a better idea. I've never handled that armor, but I fully understand what you are talking about. It's good to know and maybe removing some of the return edge may work but you may want to check and see if that will get to centurion. .... if you are shooting for that level. Either way, good luck with the rest of your build and let us know what you do about the shoulder bell issue. I'm interested in finding out what you do with it.

  16. I'll second what Christian said. No recoil spring is no problem. You can even get some proper size aluminum wire and make a coil out of it to look like a spring. It's been done before.
  17. Actually, the off white looks good to me. The bright white kinda looks a little not right next to the off white. That could just be because there is only one bright white one. Still the off white looks real good, to me anyway.
  18. That photo was taken during TFA shooting. It's not from TLJ. I've seen it many times before. The photo I was speaking of was from the original post. There is a link saying it was just leaked. There are several others in this thread that are obviously new and from TLJ. But the one I've seen many times before Unless some Jedi is using a mind trick on me
  19. I'm kinda fiddling around with the build. It s gong to take some tweaking. I've got a pretty good start though. I remember that gun from Dark Forces. It was one of my favorites.
  20. That photo was taken during TFA shooting. It's not from TLJ. I've seen it many times before. Some one leaked a spoof. Of course I'm talking about the one where thd trooper has his helmet off. The one with the black shoulder bell ( execution trooper) looks cool.
  21. I seems to me that things in the star wars galaxy change so much that a E11 could have many different versions. As with real weapons they could have many versions for different applications. So I wouldn't sweat it trying to make it screen accurate. It has a lot of its own character. Very nice work. If you wanted to add to it , you could add the wires that go between the counter and power cylinders. Some E 11 have them and some don't.
