  1. Trim the over hang definitely. But leave as much room for glue to hold on to. You don't want to keep picking it up while trooping. It won't keep you from centurion or anything like that.
  2. I wouldn't trim it unless it sticks out past the bend on the side of the knee. Plus it gives more area for glue to adhere to.
  3. A few days late to this. the issue with the shins is easy to figure out. The shin with the wider top is where the sniper knee goes. So that is the left shin. One side should be bigger than the other just for that purpose. Placement of the sniper knee. It fits a little better that way. If you were to try to put it on the other shin , you would see very large gaps close to the middle on the under side of the sniper knee. A simple test fitting would show that. I'm sure you have figured it out by now, I am just clarifying for other readers. Looking great so far.
  4. If you use a Dremel with polishing wheel, be careful not to apply too much pressure. If you do you could cause friction burns or worse , you could actually deform the plastic.
  5. They do require a little work in getting them to look presentable.
  6. I wasn't aware that there were two different size ab's. I'm currently working on shims between the ab and kidney. I feel like I'm just poking along with this build. It's fun , I can't complain.
  7. I used the short , long, assembly. The sniper knee seems to fit best that way , assuming you correctly place the long side on the outside.
  8. Actually, I think it looks pretty good. The Helmet is one of the more difficult pieces to assemble properly. It looks as if they did a good job on that. The paint on the teeth however will have to be touched up. That seams to be the thing that stands out the most as far as something that would keep you from gaining appoval. If that is one of your goals.
  9. Actually, that's not a bad idea. White paint first. You wouldn't think it would change the outside color by painting the inside. But it would be undesirable if it changes the complection even slightly. Good thinking, pass this idea around.
  10. I hope they improve a lot more with their costumer service. It sucks for new people that are excited about getting started and getting out to do some trooping. Having to wait a couple of months is not a big deal, but when it runs into a year plus , it kinda knocks the wind out of your sails. Even with the holidays and a messed up arm Walt. , WTF , came thru. Although, a few days past 8 weeks. Like that was a big deal . If Only Anovos were just a few days past their schedule, I would have stayed with them. Walt's kit is of good quality, presently building. One day I would like to get a Anovos kit, perhaps do a HWT.
  11. Just out of curiosity, when did you place your order ?
  12. He does say it , when Leia blows a hole in the grate leading to the trash compactor. " What the hell ard you doing" . Unless they have changed it for some reason. The original was that way and I believe it still is.
  13. The guy selling these must be the trooper that bumped his head in ANH. lol.
  14. Anovos is a company that makes many different kits. You can look them up on line, but I wouldn't recommend buying from them at this time. They have rediculous wait times to get your product. Especially if you are wanting a ANH TK. Which is a stormtrooper from episode 4. Anovos also has the worst customer service that there is. They are rated as an F by the Better Business Bureau. They have also been suspended from the vetted armor makers list on this forum because of these things. Do yourself a favor if you ard wanting armor and only buy from the vetted sellers listed in the getting started section.
  15. Dave, glad to hear that you got your refund. Damn shame it had to take so long. Good luck on getting another ordered and received. I'm sure you will have one before the end of January. Some are even offering them immediately at this time. But that is up to you to decide. For those of you who are still in the process of getting a refund or contemplating going for one, do this. Contact them once a week through email. Be nice and professional. After 15 days contact the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint, then let Anovos know that you have done so. Also let them know that you are willing to take legal action if necessary. But you have to let them be over two weeks late before telling them about legal action or else you start to sound a little too impatient. Like waiting the amount of time for a product that you have waited for will not wear out your patience . But , it will give the appearance that you have had entirely enough. They will bump you to the top of the list , which should get your money back a little faster. 12 to 15 days is just not doable for a company that has absolutely no good sense of business workings at all. I waited a little longer before telling them about the legal action than two weeks, but it did get faster results once I did tell them. It took 45 days to get mine. Hope this helps others to get theirs faster. Tom
  16. So true, less is more when weathering. Always start very minimal. You can add more if needed. And NEVER EVER be in a hurry to get it done. Research and test on scrap plastic before applying to your armor that cost a lot of time and money.
  17. Keeping the soles black instead of wood grain would be the issue. You would have to find something permanent that would also soak into the sole. This way it would not simply scratch off while walking or scuffing against something.
  18. Take a look at TKTALKIE.COM also. It's a great addition to a voice amp set up.
  19. Not sure what color lenses are used for that helmet, but if you run into difficulty you could try out a face shield for welding. Of course you would have to modify things a bit. It is a alternative if you can't find what you ard looking for. The shields are already curved and don't hurt your eyes. If yours are the bubbled lenses then they will hurt no matter who you get them from. Good luck on getting the new lenses.
  20. Home Depot is currently running a sale on their Husky 37" Mobile job box. It has wheels , a handle and locks. A great size to keep all your armor in while going back and forth from trooping. I've seen quite a few people that are already using these and say they work well.. just thought I would put it out there. It is on sale for $ 49.99. Not a bad deal at all.
  21. If you do find something for 350, I don't think you will be at all satisfied. There are some pretty bad looking renditions out there. You can tell when they are up next to a nice looking kit. It would be most embarrassing to be in one of those standing next to a decent suit of armor. Save your money and go for something better.
  22. I know, that's why I agreed with what was done.
  23. I agree , they don't need to be on the vetted sellers list. At least until they improve their business skills and ediquite. My experience with them was by far the worst, for dealing with a legitimate company.
  24. Hope you get it soon, I've been trying to warn everyone about the disappointment of the long wait.. again ... I hope you get it soon.
