  1. Where do the UK trooprs stand now that AA has rights, I wonder. He could sue anyone in the UK for sporting a stormtrooper bucket.
  2. I'd like to compare it to the MRLE.
  3. About four years ago I bought one off of a fellow garrison mate. I was stoked to have a pro sound system but realized that it was the very same thing that I had built for myself at radio shack. Even at the reduced price I bought it at, it was still much more than $30 spent making my own. If you don't have the know how or time, I'd say the skullworks is the cheapest, easiest way to go.
  4. It doesn't look like the RT mod I have in my hands. I always wondered how people can tell what and when something was recast just by one low res pic. The fact that it is fiberglass however, makes me suspicios of the origins. I would avoid it as a trooping bucket for a lighter, more durable plastic, be it styrene or ABS.
  5. What's the weather like on your part of the planet? It was 12 degrees at my house in Puget sound WA this morning, with no wind. It's warmed up to 15. My horses water froze solid, so I've spent the whole morning carrying warm water out to him. They make tank warmers, but it usually doesn't get that cold here:/
  6. We have delays in our mail from time to time, things get lost and damaged, but the USPS has never been on strike. Oh there was an uprising back in the 60's, but it didn't go on for very long. I send my local PO a goody basket every year for Christmas, so they take care of my address and make appointments for me to ship out mass mailings when small PO's don't usually do that.
  7. FYI, we have a new customs form here in the US. It's a triplicate carbon form that must be filled out by hand. Even though it may take a little longer getting packages out due to paperwork, we will now have a better receipt when shipping international. I have 5 packages to the UK that are unaccounted for, all bearing the old customs form. Is the UK PO still on strike??
  8. I've had an account at DYI since it started. I love star wars. I love building props. I sculpt. I was in the process of my own ANH sculpt, but destroyed it when I learned of the stormtrooper curse.
  9. Allright Joey, don't go getting my thread locked
  10. Thank you for that quote Jez, but I'm afraid you miss quoted me, or at the very least misunderstood what I had said. In no way do I suggest that recasting is "fair game". I was merely kicking off the new section with a recast thread. Here is where I stand; As a staff member here at FISD I feel it my responsibility to welcome and show respect to every new trooper and offer help with mods or pointing people in the direction for supplies. I get bummed when I see new members being berated and ousted by people that are in it for the buck or come across with the holier than thou attitude. To everyone that feels they got ripped off in their armor making endeavor; If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen!
  11. Sorry to hear about your friend. Been there. Have fun with the family. And I second the Jawa idea:)
  12. Right on brother!
  13. I disagree; I don't run.
  14. It's a joke all right, but a real auction. May it live on in this thread as a warning to all.
  15. love ya man.
  16. Quality. Very good point. I missed that one.
  17. That's OK, you don't have to answer it.
  18. hey guys, I cant wait to be an accurate stormtrooper! http://cgi.ebay.com/STAR-WARS-STORMTROOPER...=item3ca668033a The auction states; So what do you think guys, should I jump on this killer deal?? (or should we have the bounty hunters drag him in to be Keel hauled on a star destroyer?)
  19. Who among us holds a license or legal interest in stormtrooper armor? Quality.Honesty. Respect ; These are the things I look for.
  20. Nathan, good idea man. Could have been fun. Closed per request.
  21. are you counting the entire UK? Our garrison has six that I know of. Per ca pita, we have more

Where did all the flags go? Forgive and forget?
  23. I found a better, cheaper alternative to buying tack cloth at the paint store. For those of you that are not familiar with tack cloth, it is used after sanding to pick up any dust/lint particles before painting. My wife picked up some Scotch-Brite Dry Cloths at Costco. I wont be wasting money on tack cloth any more; The Scotch-Brite actually works better and leaves no residue at a fraction of the cost. SCORE!!

I remember the day we lost life and liberty. I probably wont forget it; I'm reminded of it every time I get strip searched at the airport.
  25. I use charcoal lighter fluid; Same stuff, a whole lot cheaper. You're right about many uses. I also use it to remove price tags. It also conditions ABS quite nicely.
