  1. From a collectors standpoint I would love to have one. No different from all the other "off looking" SW stuff I have. I have a couple of old Don Post helmets that go great in my collection. The Don Post stormtrooper looks very stupid, but it's one of my favorites. It could also be that LFL wanted a bucket made that would not be recasted by 501st or other costuers. The frown being a little off would keep most from recasting it. Just a thought.
  2. Here we go again. a few years from now, clean TK's will need their own detachment.
  3. I vote for FU too. That's a big FU. FU and the dewback you rode in on. You would think that TK's are iconic enough without painting them.
  4. I used duplicolor truck bed liner on the inside.
  5. I'm glad we don't see the inside of a bucket in the movie. It gives us all creative license to do what we want in our own bucket.
  6. There was no pic. Just an ebay link.
  7. How can you tell it's a recast? it's done in ABS, so he sure didn't do it on his home shop vac. whatever the case, you have advertised the ebay sale of a prop of questionable origin. You need help? let me help you.
  8. I know laws vary from state to state, but here in WA a prop blaster is not considered a weapon unless you hit someone with it , concealed or otherwise. Nevertheless, I'm carefull. I keep my blaster in the bin with my armor.
  9. Then our local news report had their information wrong. Long live the NRA. I keep a rifle in the window of my pickup truck but you can't quite see it for the chewing tobacco stains on the glass. When guns are outlawed, then I guess I'll just be an outlaw. My whole family goes to the shooting range at least once a week. A steady aim is the only gun control we need. Where we live it takes about an hour for the local cops to respond, if at all. I know this is all about prop guns and all, but the fear we have from carrying props stems from the real world polotics and for many, the fear of losing the right to own guns and protect themselves. The only time I've ever heard of someone getting hurt over a prop gun was for pointing it at the wrong person.
  10. Seeing as how a lady with a concealed weapon took that jokers head off, it's too bad that someone at the church wasn't packin' too. It is times like this that we should take up arms, not give them up.
  11. I picked up some plastic masking tape from the hobby shop. It's the kind that you use when painting models/RC's. The stuff is great. I don't get any bleed thruogh using the stuff.
  12. I've gotten a lot of spam, scams and I may already be a winner. But this is the first of its kind that I have seen. Short and sweet without a bunch of url tags. Looks like a variation of "All this money is yours; We'll send you a boguss check and all you have to do is send us money for the taxes" email came from [email protected]
  13. If you want to get away from a powered mic, pick yourself up a pack of stock # 271-1126 resistors at radio shack. Run a resistor from your power source back to your mic jack. Other than the vac formed parts, I could build a complete bommar out of radio shack. I'd rather save money and buy on line, but they have stuff in hand (sometimes) and will do in a pinch. I remember when radio shack was just parts. Now it's mostely high priced gadgets:/
  14. Dorsk88 used a spray on rubber coating and got exelent results. Paint is great for asthetic purposes. I like it better than leaving it white. The truck bed lining looks good and also adds to the integrity of the helmet. Lots more rigid and it doesn't squeek when you handle it.
  15. I used truck bed liner. Here's the thread:-----
  16. Like Paul says, He's happy with his and has no problem with it. Vinyl or alluminum siding? whopper or a bigmack? I'd say go to troops and see what they're wearing. Ask if you can touch. Read the board. Personally I like ABS when it comes to the TK costume. It's easy to keep polished shiny white and you don't have to paint it.
  17. Heck out here in the sticks where I'm at I got two and a half acres for 250k. We're a long way from everything. But the possum is good, and you don't have to walk far to tote watter from the crick.
  18. I'd use at least two cans for a whole suit. Maybe three.
  19. BTW, with fusion paint you don't have to sand.
  20. I would have to say ABS kits are better for a first timer, but if you've built models and are craft wise, then it's pretty much your own call. Whichever kit you chose, we're here to help. There are loads of tutorials on this site and lots of troopers willing to help. Feel free to PM me. I've built both as have many of our members.
  21. Very well said. You are right in that you can heat and bend ABS. Just not as easily as HIPS. As skill level I would say that a HIPS kit calls for more work and a higher skill level. I can put an FX together in a day. The styrene kits take me much longer.
  22. I would have to agree. It will show every scuff and scratch. Much easier to sell it and buy a new one. If you're determined, then as Paul said, krylon fusion will do the job. You would need several coats.
  23. One other thing I might add; HIPS is different to work with in that you can spot heat, sand, fill, reform and paint pieces to get the shape and color you want. ABS needs to be put together and left alone; the kits need to be produced in such a way that they go together with flush edges.
  24. There was also one seen near Seattle. That was a long an impolite person ride on a bike.
  25. We just can't have enough. Welcome and good job.
