1. It's the lip of armour that 'returns' back toward the body, giving the impression that the armour is much thicker than it actually is. if you look at an ANH screenshot of a stormtrooper's chest plate, for example, on the underside where the chest overlaps the abdomen, you see a good amount of return edge, making the armour look thick.
2. From the CRL: ( http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_anh_stunt ) Forearms For 501st approval: Forearms are fully closed. For level two certification (if applicable): For level three certification (if applicable): No return edge on the inside of the front of the forearm is allowed. Forearms must be constructed using the butt joint and cover strip method. Overlap construction is not allowed. So no velcro The only limb part you can leave 'open', are the shins.
3. I reckon a neodymium magnet or two might work well.
4. Hi, if you search "Shim kidney", loads of other threads pop up, with folks doing the same thing
5. Hey folks, I put this on the UK forum, thought i'd put it up here, too, in case anybody is looking for something similar. I ordered one of these little units on ebay, but the link below is Amazon. Ouba Sport 3-in-1 Waterproof Bluetooth Bicycle Speaker with Built-in Microphone for Call Answering, Power Bank & Flashlight https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01GQ4F738/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_RrtiybV4QD59X It's basically a speaker, which takes a micro SD card or links to phone through bluetooth, to play mp3 files. I'm using mine on loop, with the stormtrooper chatter file. I tried it at the weekend, and it worked great. It fit nicely into my holster, with a rigged-up leather loop to keep it in place. It was even too loud at one point, so had to turn it down a touch. At £12, it's kind of a no-brainer. And it's a torch ***Purely for info - I have nothing to do with sellers of this item!***

6. You could buy a Darth Vader costume flanked by two TKs, complete with mannequins for that price. What a display that would be
7. I have mine on a lanyard made of elastic string, round my neck, under the chest plate. I reckon the back plate would be fine, but you'd need someone else to adjust it for whatever reason.
8. Was thinking that myself, about the Han Solo film. R1 stormies will stand-up to Hi-Def scrutiny.
9. Intimidating is good, isn't it?

Shorten the straps connecting to shoulder bridges to move them in a touch? Armour looks awesome
10. Awesome - Thanks very much to all who contributed

I appreciate the kind comments
11. I knew i'd seen it somewhere! This text taken from the RS site, under the helmet, armour and accurate strapping kit:

"Recommended for these who are on a budget, or who wish to build the suit themselves as part of the replica prop experience. The kit is simple to build if you have some model making, craft or ‘DIY’ skills, supplied with images and instructions including key build areas, along with a tutorial video of the basic build techniques required across the full suit, with full support via email and Skype as required."
12. It's not vac-formed, is it? Probably rules out many of the regular armour makers.
13. Sorry, thinking of Anovos, I think :/
14. Are the details not on the video file RS provides with a kit?
15. Yeh, it'd be cool if the Imperial Scottish Squad could make an appearance
16. Cool Any idea where in Scotland?
17. At last! Some pics taken today. Hope these are OK. Different lighting... And a treat for the dog
18. One is 12w is it not? edit: Yeh, the MR1505 is 12w.
19. Well done, mate - Outfit looks awesome
20. Thanks! I got it in a local shop, which sells all sorts of household, dressmaking fabrics. I'd always found leatherette material that looked OK but had some kinda white mesh on the reverse side. This one is black front and back. Must be more of a clothing type material, as that was the section I found it in (!?)
21. Being a relative newbie, I can attest to the fact that ABS solvent is probably best left to those who have a little more building experience Only use this on ABS if you are absolutely 100% certain of positioning, and you have all the clamps, magnets, etc, to hand, ready to go. It can really spoil your day if you need to remove bits that have been solvent welded
