  1. Alrighty, well, I had another go. This time, I used a double layer of a black smooth fleece material, sandwiched between the leatherette I think it came out nicely... the ribs are definitely more pronounced on this one
  2. Are you on the UKG forum? There is a chap on there who makes rubber E-11 blasters. A bit heavier than the Hyperfirm, but troopable
  3. Just got this nicely edited pic from a recent comic con... "Little Short" © Hairy Monster Digital Arts Image Credit: Wōlf Anthony Macleod 2016 Mark Bradley as 501st Legion Stormtrooper
  4. Cool, thanks. I didn't search that far back This one (linked on that thread) looks good: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/665-howto-a-guide-to-making-a-canvas-belt/
  5. OK, so my confidence in sewing is at an all-time high I now want to make myself a belt for the TK. I understand they're usually called 'canvas belt', but is canvas material the best? I'd really appreciate some links or advice on what is best to use
  6. OK thanks. The bunching of the undersuit is probably because it's a new undersuit and I haven't added the thumb loop elastics yet I'll get fresh pics up as soon as I can. Cheers, Mark.
  7. Sounds weird when I read the thread title, but anyway A couple of times recently, I've had to annoy the missus by asking her to sew something on her Brother sewing machine. It's an older machine but has hardly been used and I figured it was time to teach myself a new skill. I have experience hand-sewing leather etc, but it's normally fairly thick 3mm leather. She tried to show me how to thread the thing... either i'm just not a good learner, or she can't teach for toffee Either way, it wasn't sinking in. So I reached for the instructions... What? We don't have any manual for the machine? Doh! Lots of Googling later ( Like I said, it's an older machine, so even archived online manuals aren't relevant ) I happened-upon a scan of the pages I needed. Success! Anyway, threaded upper and lower threads, tried a test piece then came up with my first machine-sewn item! I went for something I might actually use - a TK neckseal made of a nice, supple leatherette I found the other day. It ain't perfect, but it's my first and i'm proud that it actually fits, complete with velcro closure I'll try another with some padding in between layers, to make the ribs stand out more.
  8. Actually, if you do happen to clear the backlog before I manage more pics, would you maybe give me any pointers to changes i'll need to make in the meantime?
  9. My CfO trim measures exactly 10mm. Approx 1mm thick.
  10. Thanks Aaw no, really? Aah well, it'll need to wait a week until I can get kitted-up again The decision about not going for Centurion is because I constructed the limbs in overlap at the rear, not butt-joined. Taking them apart is way too risky, given the adhesive I used
  11. Apologies for the multiple posts... photobucket was being 'challenging' Edit: And i've just realised there is a cable socket trailing under my chest plate
