  1. You have to have a certain number of posts to be able to start a topic/post reply in certain threads. I'm not sure how many but I think it's 5 or might be 10 to start a new topic.
  2. I don't think it's so much luck, but that I live in the boonies and stuff always takes a few more days then usual. If it does ship out at the start of next week, it might just make it. At the end of the day it's not so bad because I still have the helmet and I'm making a bunch of mods to it. It's getting soo close can't hardly wait haha.
  3. I got that email from Mark today as well....With my luck it will arrive 2 days after the armor party I'm headed too
  4. Thanks all for the advice, I ended up using oven cleaner and it worked great. I used a very small amount and immediately washed it off.
  5. Hey all, I have a quick question. I painted the interior of my helm and have a little bit of spray that has gone outside. What could I safely use to clean up the fine over spray that happened. I'm using Krylon paint/primer combo. I should also say it is a very very very fine amount of spray. In this case would a very small amount of paint thinner/acetone work? I think a slight damp corner of a cloth/rag would be more than enough. I did a test on a small piece of abs and it seemed to be fine. Thanks.
  6. Take a look at the Vetted sellers list, it's a thread under the "Getting Started" section. There are a few of the vetted sellers that will do full builds.
  7. As for your TD screws, I think when you drilled the hole you might have used a gauge that was a little too big. You could try getting a dry wall mounting anchor, glue that in place then you could still screw it into place. edit: The whole armor is looking good, hopefully you hear back with your TK id soon!
  8. Hey there Karsten, I don't think there is anything wrong with starting to collect the pieces at an early age. I think I would wait if I were you until you stop growing before assembling your armor. As for the cost, it is a VERY expensive hobby, however I think you may have an advantage over those of us that got into it at a later age. Since you have 4 years until you can officially join, you could do a budget over that time and put a few dollars away each month so that when you do turn 18 you can purchase it right away. Or once you have enough saved you can buy it and have it wait. Most of us have had to budget like that to save up for the armor and all of the accessories. From my experience and I'm sure others could chime in as well, is that with this hobby patience and taking your time is a very good idea. Just my thoughts on the matter, hope it helps. Spencer.
  9. There is a thread in this section of the form that has a list of vetted sellers. That Anovos kit that you linked hasn't come out yet and no one has seen what the end product is. There is also a thread about the Anovos kit under the "Hard Armor Section" here on FISD. I would link the two but for some reason it's not working out.
  10. Oh really? I'm in Christina Lake right now, that's not too far.... haha
  11. Calgary that isn't so bad, I'm in the middle of nowhere BC. Even after it gets to Vancouver (the nearest distribution point) it will still take 3-5 days to get out here....
  12. Pretty sure Mark was referring to his TE suit he had gotten.
  13. Yeah, I think it's been brought up a lot that it's FX recast. Just found it funny that they both have the same photo's and Stormtrooper City was attempting to get added to the "vetted" sellers list a month or so ago.
  14. Well was just taking a look as a new garrison member bought a kit off of TKArmour.com, the kit piece photo's are EXACTLY the same as the photos off Stormtrooper City. Are they the same company? If they are seems like they are just widening their net in attempt to snag unwary buyers. If they aren't the same company both are claiming that they make their own amour from their own molds...... TKArmour http://tkarmour.com/
  15. I think everyone else has already summed it up but wow, that is amazing!
  16. Well dang , I got nothing Now that I see that, I remember reading that thread. Although my brain is pretty scrambled with how many threads I've scanned in the past while lol.
  17. Should we get a "sellers to avoid" list going on par with this vetted sellers list? In my short time here I have seen a number of threads of people asking about armour from various places. With some showing up all the time ie) Originalstormtrooper, Jedi robe etc edit: I know that there is the ebay section, but maybe a new thread in this "getting started" sub-forum.
  18. You can also get cheese cloth in the painting sections of most hardware stores as well.
  19. Going to say x2 for what Joseph has said. Stay FAR away from originalstormtrooper. My advice is do a lot of reading here on the forums. There is a vast amount of information and knowledge here. There are also a couple other armor producers that are not on that "vetted" list that do produce really good kits. Information on these other makers can be found in threads on this site. No matter what building a 501st approvable TK (Stormtrooper) armor will end up being expensive. I'm just getting into this myself and have already spent more than I care to mention Biggest thing is if you have a question just ask! Hope this helps. edit: The sellers on the Vetted list are there for a good reason, they have shown time and again to be great to deal with and produce quality products. Again with what Joseph has said, many of these sites/ebay listings are selling armor that are of a very poor quality, and will take much more effort, time and money to make them 501st approvable if they are able to at all.
  20. Just checked it out, don't know if it was edited but it now says in the same line "only offered to 501st Members at this moment."
  21. I REALLY need to stop reading forums while having a coffee/drink......
  22. Looking good, getting excited for my order to arrive
  23. I think I saw a post on Trooperbay's FB page saying they were down for Thanksgiving.
  24. Hi Shawn, Welcome to FISD. I would agree with taking a look at the link Shawn posted. A lot of websites out there advertise crappy re-casts and sets. My personal opinion would be stick to the "vetted" sellers list shown in the link. I'm by no means an expert but I would stay away from purchasing from that site. Spencer.
