That video is great, thanks for sharing that.
Out of curiosity, which part do you think looks too heavy?
I could see for a standard TK that it would be too much, sure, but where I'm a dirty TD, a little heavier weathering isn't a bad thing.
While I wait for funds to construct my BFG, my Christmas present was a Hyperfirm B-grade. I love how light it is and the durability.
What I want to do is add some paint to it so it stands out a bit more in pictures. You know, make it look just that much better and realistic. My initial thought was to use acrylic paint in gunmetal gray or a similar color like aluminum and then dry brush it all over.
Any suggestions or other ideas on this would be much appreciated!
Another question - taking out the build a blaster and the bondo you used to shape it, how much do you think you've spent up to this point?
I'm trying to get a rough estimate as I plan mine.

As I get ready to start my own poor build, I really appreciate yours. Super helpful and I haven't even read through all of it yet. Thanks a ton.
EDIT: After doing a really quick search of Ebay, it seems that the Build A Blaster is not readily available and what is available is very experience. Just FYI.
As a Sandtrooper, head over to mepd.net in the weathering section. Lots of different options for you.
Also, from what I can tell on my phone, it doesn't look that bad. Maybe just some touch up with other colors and you'll be good to go.

After having the same problem with the latex (hot, bad odor, etc.) I decided to follow the advice here and buy those gloves from Ebay. I used them this past weekend on a troop and they were great. Breathed really good and no smell. I could even use my smartphone before I got suited down. I would absolutely recommend these for everyday troops!
I took 1" elastic and folded it over, doubling the thickness. I then wrapped a piece around the chest piece, not the elastic between the back and chest or the shoulder bell attachment, but the chest strap that leads back to the back piece. I then used E6000 to attach industrial Velcro and done. Slides over the chest piece nice and easy every time and doesn't move. I also used E6000 to glue the nylon together and make it really stiff.

So I know I’ve been slacking with pictures but I’m finally done. I submitted the pictures after some final tweaks and I’m happy to say that I’ve been approved by my GML. I received my Legion approval today. Say hello to TD-18542. Below are pictures of the final outcome. There are still some minor fixes that the GML wants done and I will get to those ASAP. It feels good to be done but it’s sad at the same time because I really did learn a lot through the process and I feel proud to have made something so awesome. Now it’s on to building the backpack.
Thanks to everyone for the advice and support. It was much appreciated.
I’ll update this with my backpack build soon.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
One more question - I bought the gloves from trooperbay and they get really hot and sweaty. Any suggestions to reduce the sweat?
