  1. Any suggestions to keep the lenses from fogging if you don't have fans? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Head over to mepd.net and look for blaster8266. He makes amazing pouches. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. So I'm heading over to my Garrison CO's house today to touch up the weathering and take submission photos. I just gave it a final test run and I think it looks great but a second opinion never can hurt. Is there anything in the pictures below that looks wrong or that won't get me basic approval?
  4. Congrats on almost being done! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Perfect, thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Where did you get the foam? I'm looking for some for my bin but haven't found anything yet. Yours looks really high quality. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been really busy as of late. I have everything about done. Just need to do the strapping on the arms and finish up a few other small strapping areas and I'm done. To be completed soon...hopefully Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I used pipe insulation foam from Home Depot or Lowes. Haven't trooper in it yet but a fellow Garrison member had only positive things to say about it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. So I met with another garrison member last night and we worked on getting the pieces to fit. After moving them around and adjusting here and there, here is what the back looks like. This is the only picture I have as this was the main area of concern. I think with the measurements I took that I shouldnā€™t have any more surprises in store as I make the straps. Let me go knock on some wood. Here is the updated weathering pictures. They will be touched up right before my submission pictures are taken in case any of the paint gets rubbed off. Once approved it will be clear coated. I think it looks pretty good. Hopefully I can have this done by this time next week. Just need to find the time to work on it.
  10. I'll try and post weathering pictures later today Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Question - I was trying on the shins again before I install the Velcro. As I walk around they seem to slip down, then pinching my knee. They also seem to want to turn outward, so my knee is inside and the sniper plate is outside. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I will keep this in mind, thanks so much. If everything works out, I should be going to a member's house this week so he can help me with it. It will be good to have a pair of eyes that knows what they are looking at. On a side note, the weathering is pretty much done. I worked with my Garrison CO, who has artistic talent and we were able to knock back the paint some more and then he had the final touches. I think it turned out great and our GML has approved so far. Pictures to follow soon when I have a chance to take some (I'm at work all weekend). Besides the internal strapping and final fitting, I need to finish the thigh ammo boxes, belt, and a few other loose ends. Hopefully will be done in a week depending on the internal strapping issue. My CO is going to help take the submission pictures once we touch up the paint following the fitting. I'll keep you posted! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Congrats Tony, you've been a great help in my build! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. We can start with the back plate. So when I held it up last night, my wife was saying that the back piece wasn't butting up with the kidney plate and that there was a large gap where the under armor was showing. She also said that there was a large gap between my back and the center of the back plate. Any thoughts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I'm struggling with all of it. I have a hard time holding the pieces against me to fit and then when I've taped them together, I can't figure out how to measure between the snap plates for the strap lengths. That and I can't tell if the pieces fit right when they are on me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. So I've been struggling over the past month to get the final fitting done on the chest/ab/back/kidney/butt pieces and the internal strapping system. I've tried twice to make the internal straps but I think I messed up both times as it didn't fit quite right last night when I tested my last batch of straps. It's hard to do this by myself and hold up all of the pieces for fitting. My wife has tried to help but she doesn't really know what she is looking at. Any advice or tips to getting this part done myself? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Thanks, I knew I had seen this somewhere a long way back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. On your thigh ammo belt, how much did you cut off to get that curve on the bottom? I noticed on my kit that the belt was a square and I'm unsure how much I should cut off.
  19. Ok, the final push begins to be done in time to trick-or-treat in this Halloween night with my kids. I am going to a fellow garrison members house on Thursday to hopefully finish the weathering and add to fine details to it. One thing that I still have left to do is attach the thigh ammo boxes. I've noticed on mine that the end is a square, there is no rounded off part like I have seen on many build threads here. How much should I cut off one end to round it to the correct form?
  20. That sucks - good luck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I'm not very experienced with snaps but they are sold by a leather company and they appear solid to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. So I decided to try this today. I took the nylon and folded it over itself, putting two layers together. I put the female snap in and tried it out --- worked like a charm. Fit perfectly! So I think these would be a great deal and worth getting as long as you account for and deal with the longer posts. I'm going to be using these now to finish my strapping and replace some pieces I messed up with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. What I did is I cut the front for the proper cover strip size and installed the inner strip. I then held the back pieces together until I got a good fit and had my wife tape and mark them with a pencil. When I was happy with the fit after walking around I lined up the marks with the metal ruler and made the cut. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. It's possible. I'm not super experienced working with snaps, so I'm not sure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
