  1. Anyone had a chance to try these out? I'm in the market for snaps right now.
  2. Went ahead and finished gluing the front inner cover strip on each shin. They look okay and fit nice and snug. Don't know what it is but each cut makes me super nervous that I've cut too much and really messed up this expensive armor kit. Not much else to do out push on and hope my research has paid off. 3. Here is what the back of the right shin looks like. Something seems off but I'm not sure what? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Good luck! One thing I tried when fitting them together was using blue painter's tape. Helps hold the pieces together while you get glue/clamps/magnets in place. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. That's what I was planning on, so good to know I'm on the right path. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I'm hoping to get the backs of the shins trimmed tomorrow. Any tips for doing this right/special way to do this or is it just cut where the two pieces overlap? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. perfect, thanks sent from my iphone using tapatalk
  8. what is the angle on this? i'm not quite sure how much i should be taking off. sent from my iphone using tapatalk
  9. good luck! fyi, i'm 6'4" and i will probably need to trim some height off my am thighs. sent from my iphone using tapatalk
  10. This is the part in working on right now. How tall are you? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Looks good so far. One thing I recommend is lightly sanding the bottom of the cover strip and the area on the piece where the strip will go. Having those 2 rough edges helps the glue have some teeth as it sets. And you can never have too many magnets. Can get them pretty cheap on Ebay, that's where I got mine. 12. Also, how big are the outer cover strips on the shins? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. But now Tapatalk is crashing frequently... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Seems to be fixed after I logged out and then back in Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I've been having issues with Tapatalk ever since the maintenance that just happened. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?
  16. So I've started working on the shins. I've identified which pieces should fit together and I've trimmed the front side. The question that I have at this point is how much to trim off the back of the shins. I would like to have all the trimming done before gluing to make it easy going forward. Thanks!
  17. After trying them on today and sleeping on the problem overnight, I think using foam will probably be the easiest solution to try first. Is there any foam you guys recommend before I go to a store and look around? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Sounds like a possible option. The one piece I want to resize has both inner strips glued to it with CA glue, so I'd have to cut through those. Not looking forward to figuring out how to fix this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. The only concern I have about foam is that it will still look too large and disproportionate with the rest of the armor. I don't want to put it aside and wait but I might in favor of working on the thighs and shins. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. So one more question. The right forearm is the one I worked on at the armor party last month and is the first piece I worked on. We installed both inner cover strips using CA glue. I'm not sure how I like the fit, it seems a bit to big. Before I try to pull it apart and fix it, what do you guys think? Sorry, elbow shot won't upload Thanks, good to know. 21. Also, I started working on the shins. I've identified which pieces go where. I also trimmed off the return lip on the ankles. Should I do this at the knee area also? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Where do they attach to the biceps? I wore another members armor a few weeks ago and his forearms floated free of the biceps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. So I'm working right now on the forearms. They fit nice and the wrist opening is as tight as I can possibly get it. However, when I wear the under suit and gloves and when I put my arms at my side, the forearms slip down to the end if the wrist. Should I be concerned about this and how can I fix it? 24. I guess I'll smooth them out before the cover strips On another note, is there a recommended way to removed any excess E6000 that has leaked out the sides. Now that everything is in place on the biceps, I don't want to do any damage trying to remove glue. I just trimmed them to fit. Squeezed together until I got a good fit on one side and then used the same measurements on the other. Speaking of the forearms, since they were my first piece to work on (and I'm still working on them ), I didn't taper much, just fit and cut. Hopefully they turn out alright.
  25. So I'm back at it tonight. Got the final outer cover strip gluing on the biceps. Needs some finishing sanding and cleanup but they are pretty much ready to go! After getting that to glue, I'm back at the forearms. After much debate and trying on the left forearm, which doesn't have any cover strips in place yet, I decided to trim off the back lip and make the forearm sit flat. I also trimmed a small amount more off and the opening match the right forearm pretty well. I feel pretty good about it. Here is what it looks like with the glove and undersuit in place: Here is the one question I have - the front lip was removed using a Dremel, which I wasn't very comfortable with. Needless to say, the cut is not very smooth. Should I cut and even out the circled area now before doing any cover strips or should I wait until it is all glued up? Here's to hoping the forearm inner cover strips get to glue in the next few days, then it's off to the thighs and shins.
