  1. You will get help if you need it. Don't hesitate to ask anyone. Have a great time! It is so much fun
  2. I'm able to do it. It definitely took practice and I think I pulled a muscle a couple times. But on the troops that I have been on that is the spot that most help each other out with. Also the thermal detonator is easier if someone else does it. I will be going on a troop tomorrow all by myself though. Not the most ideal situation but I will have to suit up alone. I have tried buttoning them first and then putting on the torso and sliding my arms through. That isn't ideal though because it puts a lot of stress on the elastic. So I gave that up. Troopers helping troopers!
  3. Congratulations! Once I started trooping I couldn't get enough Good luck on EIB approval. Your armor looks great!
  4. Congratulations! Great day to get approved
  5. The only settings adjustment, I find on the iComm users manual is for random clicks or a specific click. I haven't found any instructions for adding more of a delay?
  6. I did 2 troops this past May 4th. I was cooling my helmet with one 5v fan powered by a 9v battery. The first troop was 3.5 hours long and my battery only lasted 2.5 hours. I had no opportunity to return to the changing room to replace. Last hour was miserable. 2nd troop same thing after 2.5 hours battery died. This time I was able to go back to the changing area and replace the battery. But after all of that I new I needed a better solution. I found this awesome thread and ordered the Aukey 5000 power bank. Yes it's bigger then a tube of lipstick but it's still a nice compact size. I'm currently testing it right now with two 5v fans and it's been running for the past 5 hours! I am already super happy! I have Ukswrath's hovi mic speakers an iComm and I built and installed the super ear using the supplied 3 AA pack. I still have room to add this Aukey battery and the fans. Its an ATA helmet and I'm loving having all the electronics contained inside. After my time test I'm going to velcro the Aukey Power Bank inbetween the speaker amplifier and the iComm (bottom pic). Thanks Carl for completely making my cooling system run longer with this USB mod. Much much much appreciated. Sweating and not being able to see for an hour around tons of young children was completely miserable. **UPDATE** I ran the two 5V fans for 8 hours and decided that was plenty of time for my me. They showed no signs of slowing down and could have continued. I had an extra 5V fan and I had the extra space due to the small size of the Aukey power bank. So I installed it as well. So now I have 2 fans upfront, one in the back and a seemingly endless supply of power to run them all day. But I would hope I would never be in my armor all day! This is the best helmet power mod!!!! My helmet is officially complete!
  7. Thanks Ruben. Yes, you are the first 501st member that I chatted with! We talked blasters on multiple occasions. It was great getting input from someone who had already started their journey! I appreciate your friendship! It's been fun seeing pics of your new blaster too. You ended up putting a lot of elbow grease into that one too!!! Paid off!!!
  8. Then I use these: Hard Hat Sweatband They help absorb any moisture off of your forehead and if they do get sweaty you can remove them and wash them or replace them.
  9. It keeps your helmet from wobbling around. If you decide to put fans in your helmet you can get better airflow throughout. It's not the only way to go, but i've been trooping with mine and enjoy it. I wouldn't want to glue a bunch of pads in and have them get all stinky and sweaty just to tear them all out and do it all over again. You will get sweaty and more then likely you will want fans.
  10. You just need to hot glue the liner tabs into you helmet and the the liner slides and clicks right in.
  11. I use one of these: Trooperbay Hard Hat Liner No need for foam that will just get sweaty.
  12. I use an iComm, it's what I could afford at the time. The iComm circuit board comes enclosed in a black case for protection but it also makes it larger. The Rom/fx doesn't come enclosed but it's smaller. The iComm runs off of the amplifier battery, the Rom/fx has it's own battery pack. The iComm is self contained so you can't change any settings except what type of static burst you want. The Rom/fx allows you to change delay of static burst, volume levels, voice input levels, modulation amounts, etc. iComm is more readily available. The Rom/fx is a bit more of a wait. The iComm works fine for me and don't see the need to fiddle with a bunch of settings. Some people like having more control over settings so they go the Rom/fx route. They both work great! So the questions you will have to answer is how fast do you want it, how much do you want to spend, where are you thinking of placing it (helmet vs chest - space issues) and how much control do you want over the settings? Hope that helps a little.
  13. I don't think $40 (plus whatever for Intl) is too expensive for teenagers these days. And yes he could save some money putting them together himself.
  14. This is an awesome mod you could do to get your ID# in, if your using a resin counter. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/20982-resin-hengstler-counter-mod/?hl=%2Bcounter+%2Bnumbers You could also buy one of these http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/36552-fs-6-run-hengstler-400-counter-eagle-replicas/?hl=%2Bcounter+%2Bnumbers I was going to do the mod in the first link, but then I found Dennis's (Blue Snaggletooth) replica counters (2nd link) and bought one instead. The numbers actually work and they are really lightweight too. If you poke around/ask around a bit you might be able find someone who has a template for numbers that could be printed also.
  15. I def recommend fans first. Mics and audio can come second. When your trooping it's more important to stay as cool as possible over talking. I did some tests with my fans and I wore them running for awhile and then I turned them off and my lenses instantly started fogging up. When I turned the fans back on the fogging went away. I bought Ukswrath's Fan kit and it works great! Super affordable too! Cooling Fan Kits (3/1/16) - http://www.whitearmo...oling-fan-kits/ ONGOING!
  16. I also used Plasti-Dip and the cheesecloth method. I used velcro to hold in my mic and 2 fans with battery pack. I haven't had any problems with it peeling up. I plasti-dipped the chrome badges on my truck and they have been through all the elements for 2 years and not once has one peeled. If you picked at it it will peel but once you install the velcro you won't be picking at it.
  17. I have 2mm abs ATA armor and I used the bracket system without any problems. However I needed to make some slight adjustments and I ended up replacing the brackets on my back to ab connection with snaps. I didn't feel like sewing smaller elastic hoops, lol. I left the screws in place though so it still looks authentic from the outside. It's brackets everywhere else though no cracks or problems.
  18. I got my FISD trading cards yesterday! They are so cool. I've been passing them out to my co-workers all day.

  19. I enjoyed reading your experience! I can tell your membership means a lot to you
  20. Thank you. Good Luck. a snug fit would be your best bet. If you use the plastic rings surrounding the lenses that come in the monocular you could use a little super glue on the ring. But as stated above, you would want to try and avoid getting any glue on the lens itself. It's normal for me to have to do things twice, too. I got lucky on this part of the project.
