  1. None of this changes how cool they looked in A New Hope. So we always have that! First world problems
  2. We notice this difference's because we have actually built these suits. The average fan will not notice these intimate details. Also keep in mind that we are only being shown a few seconds of TK's and they all look like they are flying through the air or in hand to hand combat. Even the ones slowly walking, could be blown up in the next second and we are not shown that. My point is they could possibly be a kind of suit used for active stunts and we haven't seen anymore to be completely sure. Movie trailers also come out before movies are actually completed. They are still in post-production on this movie. So scenes get cut, filters, effects and clean up still get added. I'm not saying it's going to change anything, but I wouldn't get too worried about it at this point. I'm not saying I liked what I saw, but I will hold judgment until I see more. I can confidently say this "that's the fastest I've ever seen Stormtroopers run before!" Lol!
  3. Congratulations Chris! I see you made that change to the holster. Looks great! Even if it wasn't necessary for approval, you will notice a difference when trooping. When the blaster is holstered the whole thing has a tendency to want to flop backwards. So the closer to you side will make it better. To your point too, it's hard enough to get you blaster unholstered so your better off with it closer. Excellent work! Centurion will be a breeze.
  4. Nice looking armor Chris! It really fits you well. The one thing that sticks out to me is that your holster seems to be set back a little far on your belt. Not sure if that will affect your EIB request, but it may for requesting Centurion status. From the research I've done it should be 3/4" (2cm) distance from the end of the plastic part of the belt. This may not be an issue at all though. Once again, great looking armor!
  5. This is a great idea! It would also work great for making repairs to cracked screw holes (with a little glue). Thanks Tony.
  6. Like Mathias link above, you'll find it all on the Star Wars Soundboard. I recorded a bunch of sounds from there last weekend. The Blaster Stun sound will be under Sound Effects & More and then Blasters.
  7. When I used my iPhone to post pics it messed everything up. Not sure if that is your case or not. When I used my Macbook everything posted fine.
  8. Your paint job on the those T-tracks turned out great!
  9. Looks great! Nice work Love the pic of the folding stock extended! Makes the blaster look so different.
  10. Great idea using the ABS paste to fill in the teeth. The more you work with your armor the more comfortable you will get. You will forget about how much you paid for it and how long you waited!!! Keep up the great work!
  11. Great advice from Joseph! I walked around in costume at home for an hour a couple days before my first troop. Which was great because I learned some things I liked and didn't like about the armor. I also took the Dremel to it in a few spots that were pinching. I had some loose pieces of foam that I was just stuffing into my thighs and noticed over time they would wiggle themselves out. So I hot glued them in. One less thing to deal with while putting on your armor in a different environment. Also be very wary of small children that come right up to you. No matter how far you bend over you won't be able to see them! So don't just start walking forward quickly. You are going to feel like a celebrity!!!
  12. As said above I have my TK # in my counter. But if someone were to steal it, your more then likely never getting it back. But for misplacing it purposes you could add your TK #. I don't ever see the reason why your weapon would be mixed in with a bunch of other members weapons though. With the DLT-19 you'll know when you don't have it!
  13. I did my tracks flat black and the body has a satin finish. The tracks don't get lost. I like it because they look like a rubber/plastic material. I also textured the body of my blaster with a spray on truck bed liner. So that also helped differentiate between material. I find that using different finishes (satin, flat, semi-gloss) all play a huge part in making the weapon look realistic.
  14. I did the same thing for the small lens as I did with the large lens. Drilled it out so it would fit the lens and it's holder ring. That's my build link above You were checking it out at one point. I don't have pictures of specifically installing it though.
  15. I have to say that I had a blast on my 1st troop. The event was the YMCA's Healthy Kids Day at the Quicken Loans Arena. If you took my helmet off you would have seen me with the biggest smile ever! The reactions from the kids and parents were priceless. I am looking forward to more! The other Star Wars Community members I met were also amazing. Their dedication to costuming and being volunteers for events such as this is inspiring. As we were heading back to the dressing room we ran into the Cleveland Cavs Cheerleaders (nice bonus).
  16. Oh that's great! Glad this thread helped out. I would LOVE to see a pic of your blue lens. Blue is my favorite color and I bet it looks sharp!
  17. No problem and Thank You! I'm really happy to be a part of all of this! Yes, your rivets worked perfectly thanks for the fast turn around on those.
  18. Your too kind, and thank you very much! It's great to hear when someone appreciates the work you put in. Good idea getting a spare. I got lucky my first shot but it could have easily gone the other way, lol. Just take you time when your drilling it out. Yes, I used the plastic housing rings from the monocular. I look forward to seeing your build!
  19. I had a blast on my 1st troop! YMCA Healthy Kids Day at the Quicken Loans Arena.

  20. My whole experience was one big massive lesson in patience and research. Oh, and of course meeting a lot of like minded wonderful people. I ordered my ATA kit in 2014. Received it in 2015. I then completed it and became a member in 2016. I built 2 blasters during that wait. For me, working on the blasters first was a big help with gathering tools and supplies that would eventually help on the armor build. The research on and off the forums helped me realize how deep this rabbit hole really goes! With the armor build, I did not realize how many times I would be trying pieces on and off. I went through many rolls of painters tape holding parts together. I put my helmet together three different times to get it to where I felt was right. That also included screwing and unscrewing the nuts and bolts over and over and over......... My helmet looked a little like swiss cheese under the ears. Once I found the ABS paste trick I realized most things can be fixed. Some set backs I had were using rivets with the helmet and needing to remove them. The first time I was drilling the rivet out, it got so hot it just melted the ABS and fell out leaving a larger hole. Tutorials I watched made installing snaps looks so easy. I bought leather snaps, that were meant for thicker material so every time I hammered the shaft down the 2 halves of the snaps moved all over the place and never lined up. I seriously thought I was the worst snap installer ever! I then found the proper type of snaps and it was a breeze. I also wish I had known to spend a little more money on the undersuit. I bought a very cheap top and bottom and they rubbed dye ALL over my costume. I spent a lot of time taking a magic eraser and cleaning every part. I dusted off the sewing machine I had never used and read through the manual. It was a crash course, I was very proud of myself after I had successfully sewn elastic loops and thigh garters. I know that a lot of this is nothing new to people that have done their builds. I want to give a shout out to this entire forum! I have never been around any 501st costumes or people. So everything I learned I learned here. I've done one troop, but it was by myself. This Saturday I'll be trooping for the 1st time with 501st members and I could not be more excited! I'm 42 years old and I can honestly say that becoming a member of the 501st has been one of the most fun and rewarding experiences I have ever had!!!
  21. Looking forward to my 1st official 501st troop this Saturday!
