Mark hit the nail on the head. As someone who went this route when I joined the paint worked great for dozens of troops. I say dozens because I switched to a pair of Imperial Boots. The paint was fine on my Chelsea's but the problem was with the space around the ankles. Those boots have a wide opening so that play's havoc with the bottom of shin. Making them rise when you walk up stairs and such. The TK boots and Imperial really hug your ankle. So just wanted to let you know. Oh, and if you paint it takes a good 6 or 7 coats. But they look original accurate when done.

I'll like to see your progress. Someone in my garrison is interested in one of these. I've figured most of the right side will be found in plumbing section. A tub overflow for bottom of tube. A toilet float and some ribbed tubing to a water bottle. Can't wait to see what you come up with Shawn.

I'm a fan of mods. My pack has traser lights on sides of pack and a flashing red light in radio. Even a DVD player in there too. But the stuff is hidden. Only used on those casual troops. But it still looks like CRL. No offense but we can see your light and wiring right there. That to me takes away from your great looking pack. Try to hide a little better maybe just seeing the led popping out somewhere. And what's up with black Duct tape on cone? Not knocking your enthusiasm, just your execution.

I built mine from sheet styrene that I picked up at the local hobby shop. It's held up great with all the bang's and bump's we take.

That's kind of a question only you can answer. It all depends on your abilities. For me I went with the DLT. The E-11 to me doesn't really scream HWT. The T-21 fit's well also. Check out some builds and see what you think you can tackle. Good Luck

I have the nice padded straps that are curved inward from a L.L. Bean backpack. They curve right under my chest plate and came with a strap with quick clip. I never feel the weight of the pack. You need this Joseph!

Like Joseph said, if you can do it post some pictures. I have the amp and Icomm attached to my chest plate. Being right there sounds like it's from the helmet. Either way Good Luck!
