  1. Congratulations Adam! You cleaned that up nice! Welcome to the Ranks!
  2. Not to be that guy. But that Trooper is gonna need to bring them shoulder bells in if he wants to go EIB!
  3. I'm looking into doing a Commander just to be able to carry a lightsaber. And it will annoy the Jedi! If you read CRL I believe it say's it's a copy of starkiller's. But for basic I think that will work. From what I can see.
  4. I love the smell of a BBB opening! Good Luck with your build!
  5. Looking good! I would suggest bringing your shoulder bells in a bit. They should be right up to straps. As for glue, I had no problem gluing mine with Gorilla gel Super glue. I actually put glove on and mounted hand plate and held for a few minutes. Then added glue near edges that were not bonded first time. Good Luck fellow RT-MOD!
  6. If your armor doesn't have the notch then you don't need to do it. I believe that's in the CRL. As for your pencil lines. That looks good. I'd leave them when you rough trim and finish just up to it. Leave 5mm or so is a good estimate.
  7. First, Welcome to your adventure! "Stunt" TK's are the most common one's. The "Hero" is the one's the so called Hero's Han and Luke wore. The Hero was used in the close up scenes in the movie. The differences in the two is Hero has a different helmet and belt.
  8. You're doing good. Just make sure to take from each side evenly when you trim down. If you take all from one side your coverstrips wont line up front to back. So say you measure a 15mm overlap. Remove 7.5mm from each side. And the bicep that doesn't quite line up at top isn't a problem. The coverstrip when added makes it look better and bell covers most of it anyway. When sizing have your compression top on to get accurate sizing. And don't make it to loose or to tight. A couple of fingers should be able to fit in under edge is a good size. Good Luck Mike and keep up the good work. We'll keep an eye on you along the way.
  9. You could use the top shoulder bridge in photo. Bottom one looks better. The only thing is it might crack quicker then other one. Just slow down and take your time. It's a marathon not a sprint. You doing your best makes Us look our best! Good Luck Future Trooper!
  10. Fun fact: Jorge is the Trooper I'm face palming in my avatar.
  11. Another great issue Team!
  12. Looking good Jorge! You'll be doing the Empire proud and the New England Garrison! Sides look way better btw. Good Luck my Friend!
  13. Ok. Did you trim return edge on biceps? I'd lose all the return edge on top and inside bottom and leave a small return edge on outside edge to retain look of thinkness. If that's done already I'd stay with 20mm on forearms and 20mm on front of bicep and wider one in back. That way you keep the look in front equal. Plus it should be said that wearing the compression top when fitting matters. Make sense kinda? Sent from my LGMS631 using Tapatalk
  14. It has to be that big to fit your arm? If so then that's what it has to be. Return edge removed from wrist? Plus you dont need return edge on inside forearm if that helps. 20mm isnt the end of the world. Just the 15mm recommendation is movie accurate. Sent from my LGMS631 using Tapatalk
  15. Hey Mikey, sorry to say but AM is no longer making armor. I know, we're bummed too. You could look into TM or RT as alternative's.
  16. From your picture it looks like you have the room to trim both halves down on forarms. Are you a big guy? Sent from my LGMS631 using Tapatalk
  17. Traditionally the arm's are 15mm coverstrips. Meaning each half is trimmed to 7.5mm. Make sense? Sometimes people need to go wider because you have to get your hand through opening at wrist. Which all return edge is removed from. For the rest of armor coverstrips. thighs front and back and front of shins are 20mm and back of shins are 25mm coverstrips glued only to outside half of shin in back. Hope this helps.
  18. Like Steve said. Sign up with your local Garrison. They can definitely give you a hand on the local level and you could probably give them a hand wrangling/handling at troops while you're assembling yours. That way you can see how the armor goes on and see what fun you're in for. We all started where you are Mike. Staring at a box full of awesome and wondered how am I going to do this? It's not that hard with the help here. Trust me. Looking foward to your build thread Mike. Just take your time. You doing your best makes Us look our best! Good Luck Future Trooper!
  19. Leia wore the binders when she was yelled at from her Dad for taking the car, er, secret plans. I have the Disney binders. The clasp was tough at first but if you use them they break in nicely.
  20. Only they can make that call. But I'd say yeah it could affect it. Did you check out the original photos yet? And I believe they don't ask for notches anyways for EIB. It's more of a personal wanting to follow original OCD thing. Which good for you in doing it. Oh yeah, go a little easy on the glue! Lol Sent from my LGMS631 using Tapatalk
  21. Congratulations Teresa! And welcome to the Centurion Ranks!
  22. Looking good so far! I agree you have to trim a little more on the ab. The return edge needs to lose that bot and dead end at 90° from face edge of armor.Keep up the good work!
  23. Looking good so far. I'd only recommend going easy on the bevels on your coverstrips. They're pretty steep. Especially on the top of your thigh in photo above. Check out the photo's in the gallery of original suit. Keep up the good work! We're rooting for you!
  24. Welcome to the FISD Ryan! It will take you awhile to learn the acronyms. Those are vendors that make armor. You can learn all that and more in the Getting Started section. I'm a bigger Trooper myself and went with RT-MOD for mine. We have Troopers of all sizes so don't let that discourage you. Theirs alot of infomation to check out before picking your armor. It's probably the most important decision you'll make in this Hobby. Just take your time and if a question comes up you can't find the answer just ask. We're here to help. Be sure to check out the Advanced Tactics section after you pick which brand you're going with and see how others have brought them to movie accurate. Good Luck Future Trooper!
