  1. It could just be me being overly OCD. I'd suggest asking Gazmosis or others for their opinions before making any changes. Regarding the ovalness (if that's a word), members have done the hot water bath trick to help reshape their forearms to better fit.
  2. I place a 1"x1" patch of industrial velcro on the front of my boots and inside the front of my shins. I never have a problem.
  3. Looking sweet so far! It could just be the camera angle but it seems like either the cover strips on your forearms and biceps aren't wide enough or the raised ridge is too wide. I'm not sure.
  4. Rick, you could either remove your bottom ribs or add shims to the sides. I'd go for the shims. There are quite a few tutorials and build threads where people have added shims to their sides.
  5. Well, I guess you can "notch" it up to experience that the CRL's can be frustrating. Thank you folks, I'll be hear all week Either way, Dan, your armor is looking great! Don't let something this trivial put you in a foul mood. Remember, it's only plastic and we're here to have fun.
  6. Looks good! It's gonna be a long month for you without working on the armor. Have a safe trip!
  7. Mine are an 11EEEE and went with a 13 from imperialboot. Fit fine.
  8. Yes, obligatory brown box pic and then another with armor spread out over the floor! Good luck with your build. Looking forward to watching it come together!
  9. Dan, the velcro is fine. Just curious why you wanted to use it. If it makes you feel better, go for it! And they just added the kidney notched. I doubt they're going anywhere.
  10. Looks good, my bad ;-) You shouldn't need to use Velcro in the center of the belt. The snaps should hold it up in place. Having the snaps on the center of the belt is fine. Do you have a particular concern?
  11. Even with their updates, why do you guys they're still not up to par?
  12. My girlfriend just ordered hers Thursday night. We'll be following your build thread very closely. No pressure ;-)
  13. Looking good, Dan! I'd be interested to see how the belt looks snapped on the ab plate. The snaps seem like they may be a bit low. Could just be the angle of the the photo. Otherwise, the rivets and cod/butt snaps look good!
  14. You did a great job on the ears. They're small and tedious and I know of no one who likes them! The forearms can be a bit of a pain too. Nice job of getting them to come together. "I did have one minor issue. I ended up with a crack in the ridge. This was from me trying to manipulate the shape by hand after heating. I did not share any of the pics or steps I undertook in that process because it was a waste of time and effort. This was my reward for attempting such foolishness. I will repair this when I make abs paste for shimming later on." - for this crack, I'd suggest using some CA glue instead of ABS paste. Dab some glue in the crack and squeeze it together. That's how I fixed the cracks in mine.
  15. This is looking awesome! I've never had any nylon webbing snaps come off. Snaps I made with ABS did, however. You should be fine. One thing I noticed was with your holster. It looks like you're using loops to attach the holster to the belt. The holster should be attached with rivets, snaps, or Chicago screws. The loops are for ESB. I love the detail of your build thread. Will make a great reference for others!
  16. You're making great progress! I'm enjoying watching your armor come together.
  17. Melissa, I'm in the same boat. Have you tried push to talk yet?
  18. I received my throat microphone today. It's the ixradio XVTM26M35. It works great on my iPhone and iPad for voice dictation. I haven't gotten it to work well with my ICOMM using VOX mode. I haven't tried the PTT yet.
  19. My throat mike is being shipped. Can't wait to receive it!
  20. Carefully cut and make a new return edge?
  21. There's nothing more satisfying than wearing the armor you built. Yes, it may take longer and require hard work, but it's worth it!
  22. You're doing a great job and making great progress! I'm enjoying following this build.
  23. I had to, otherwise I couldn't bend my arm! Cut a little at a time until it fits. Don't make one big cut. My motto, " measure once and cut it until it fits". I recommend you don't follow my motto ;-)
