  1. the restriction is normal. They were made for standing, not walking. You can remove some of the trim from the botton of the back of the thighs to help with mobility. Check out the back of this guys thigh. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/gallery/image/48-screenshot68802/ You could also trim the top of your thighs too, but I would save that as a last resort.
  2. Jen, as Bobby said, you don't want the visor to sit flush, you want gaps. This will help air circulate a bit in your helmet and help prevent fogging.
  3. If you haven't ordered your rivets, get them here: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/23970-fs-centurion-level-rivet-sets/ I'd also recommend getting the snaps from Tandy Leather. They're good quality and you'll get them relatively quick. The back of your calves are either velcro'd or clips. 20mm cover strips. The outside piece overlaps the inside piece so people don't see the opening as easily. Thighs are glued and cover stripped (20mm) like your forearms and biceps. No velcro is used. I use a belt/garter system for my thighs. No suspenders.
  4. The faceplate looks like it can come out a little. Comparing your helmet to reference photos would be your best bet. I would suggest not doing anything with the faceplate until the back is glue into place. The curve on your helmet looks ok, difficult to tell. Remember cut a little at a time.
  5. Jen, there are a few ways to do it. Here's a good link to review: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/20058-need-ideas-for-mounting-the-lenses-in-your-lid/
  6. Thanks, Joseph. I still have lots more to do on the pack and weathering is definitely one of them. It's way too pristine looking now and wouldn't fit in with a weather HWT.
  7. Submission photos were, well, submitted last week. Just waiting for the final nod.
  8. As I mentioned, this was going to be a really slow build. I lost my first oil pan because I had to change my oil. Bought another one from Bavarian Motorsports, it's the 9qt size and fits my back nearly perfectly. I had received the boxes from QuarterMaster but was interrupted to build my GF's legacy stormtrooper armor. Now that that's out of the way, the pack can begin. Basic layout of the main components. Removing some of the external ridges so the boxes lay flat. and then repainted a few pieces so the center cylinder matched. I need to do some cleanup on the repainted areas. That's about it for now. Been multi-tasking between this, a Jawa and a Tusken Raider.
  9. Andrew, the thighs came out great! Test out wearing them around before your first troops. You may find the webbing doesn't "give" that much and you may wish to swap out for some elastic. Just my experience. Good luck on your submission!
  10. wow! nice job on the thighs! Not many people would tackle that. Can't wait to see how they turn out when you're finished.
  11. OK. I reached out to Giovanni for Chunky style boots. In the mean time, so Kathi's approval isn't held up, we went ahead and modified her current boots. I cut out some pieces of goat leather I had and painted them white. The seams along the sides were really pronounced under the leather. I glued some extra leather to soften the ridge line and then applied glue to the back of the leather wraps and to the shoe itself. And the final strip down the center. These will get her through submission and her first few troops. We'll take submission photos this weekend and wait.....
  12. These are the boots Kathi currently has: I know at minimum I need to add a strip down the center. The CRL doesn't state whether side seams are allowed are not. Would these be acceptable?
  13. It's been a while since the last update but we're almost done! I wound up grinding the edges of the PVC pipe to accept the end caps. Not terribly difficult, just a PITA. I need to finish the right lower leg, add the shoulder bridges and finish the shoes. I was too distracted in building the armor and didn't take as many pictures as I wanted to. The belt was a bit of a pain. Nothing too difficult, just so many parts. Screwing the individual mount points and then glueing the boxes themselves. For the biceps and forearms, I used ABS pasted for the seam. I wasn't able to sand the edges as smooth as I wanted too. Too many bubbles in the paste so I went the bondo way and a can of spray paint. This paint matched nearly perfectly. I was only able to do one lower leg at a time because I ran out of magnets. Here's the first one: Here's a quick fit photo after the strapping was put in place. We still need to make some adjustments, trim a few edges and finish the other leg. I've since mounted the TD to the kidney plate. And she couldn't wait to see how she looked with her very own DLT-19.
  14. Align at the elbow side (near the bicep), trim at the wrist.
  15. And there it is, #3! Congratulations, Danny! Absolutely wonderful job!
  16. Anyone can achieve EIB or Centurion with some attention to detail. It all depends on what you want to achieve.
  17. Congratulations!! Great job and looking forward to seeing you as Centurion!
  18. looks good! I can't tell if the screws are philips head or slotted. They "should" be slotted pan head screws that are painted black. Nice job on the TD clips!
  19. You might want to trim or round the tip of the butt plate with the two snaps. Maybe even move the front snap to the back and cut off the excess plastic. It looks a little long from my perspective. It would probably be more comfortable for you, if you get my drift. Once it's all snapped together and you try it on, you'll know if you need to or not. Just a suggestion.
  20. Your build is proceeding nicely! Hand painting your bucket was a good call. There's a feeling of pride when putting it on knowing you took the harder route. Nice save by Germain on your thighs. With any cutting, remove a little at a time and continuously check the fit. I did industrial strength velco on my greaves, there's about 1/2 inch of overlap and I've been having issues with them coming apart, then again mine are a little to tight. I'll probably switch over to the hook and loop method. Do a test fit with the boots on too. They may look good sitting there but fit differently when you are actually wearing them. You can get the rivets for you sides, ammo pack and crotch here: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/23970-fs-centurion-level-rivet-sets/ I ordered two sets "just in case". They came in handy.
