  1. The cover strip should cover that up no problem. And, adding an internal cover strip is a must. Shins see a lot of force on them when putting them on and off. Also, put the heat gun away! Try a hot water bath instead. Heat guns are not forgiving, and many have had parts ruined by their fiery breath. Keep up the good work!
  2. Industrial Velcro sticks just fine. If u need more stick, E6000.
  3. Looking good Greg. And yes, Velcro on the boots and shins is the easiest option for those twisting shins. Works great too!
  4. Start sizing with your biceps. They’re the easiest.
  5. Yeesh. That shouldn't have passed if it did. It should look like this...
  6. I hope you are just holding that there with your hand. The rivet (closest to camera) has to go on the squared off area at the bottom of the thigh (I can see in the pic that the other side (closest to husky box) is correct). If you've riveted the one closest to camera in up the side of your thigh, you'll need to remove it and fill the hole with ABS paste.
  7. Frank, congrats on your submission. I'd suggest you contact your garrison about younglings trooping with you as there could be restrictions. It's a safety & liability kind of thing.
  8. Greg, have a look at a Centurion approval. There will be some great pics of how the thigh should look. Yes, your cover strip should be cut, and you might be able to cut off the top of the thigh for a smooth look ... but I'd wait on that until you can get kitted up a bit to check spacing between your thighs and your cod. About the split rivets, they don't need to be functional, they only need to exist. If you can line things up with another method, go for it.
  9. Beautiful Build Dana. Loving the sanded smooth edges. TK's building right now should look at your thread. I'll chine in on the bicep to forearm conversation, if you make is connection elastics with snaps it allow you to put on your shoulder bells and biceps first, then you can snap on your forearms. This gives you greater range of motion while dressing. As you'll see in the change room, TK's have different ways of getting kitted up. Some do what I just told you, and some put on the entire arm (forearm, bicep, and bell) as an entire sleeve. Some do it other ways with the bells already attached to the shoulder straps. It's a mixed bag. Just saying the connection doesn't have to be a permanent thing, until you figure out how you like to get dressed. I'd say leave the strapping out for now until you can fully kit up. Then decide what works best for you.
  10. Great Start Ian! Good job on the trimming. Have you looked at tapering your thighs to fit your leg?
  11. Nice work trooper! Great progress. And yes, be careful on those late nights. Tired body or mind = mistakes! It's better if the build takes longer, than pressing on and wishing you hadn't.
  12. Congratulations Andrew. Now put that baby aside and get on with that Centurion Application! Just kidding. Hug your baby.
  13. I would suggest you have a look at the reference pics; there are TK's with lots of "flashing" around the eyes and there are those with the eyes trimmed out (so the end cut is perpendicular to the lens). It might come down to personal preference. You are very close, and smoothing out your cuts (sanding) might just make the perfect eye. Your teeth are also very close (open them up just a little bit more). Great start trooper!
  14. I made mine functional with a white elastic strap for a handle and Velcro closure. I glued a white sock in the box to keep things quiet and in place. I thought I'd use them for keys or challenge coins, or whatever, but truthfully, I never use them. Once I'm kitted up, I can't see the boxes, and accessing them with gloves and my helmet on is not an option. I had pics but photobucket wiped them out. I say go for it. It doesn't hurt to have it, as long as they are secure (not going to open or fall apart during a troop).
  15. Great pics of the shoulder straps Sean. They won't budge now! Good Luck on your EIB submission!
  16. They could be rainbow coloured really. Wearing a cotton glove under your rubber ones prevents swampy hands and stinky gloves. They are a must wear.
  17. Yeah, without the scraps in the void, there isn't much gluing surface. I can't predict when they'll come loose, but they will. And they will at the least opportune time (3 minutes before your troop starts ). You're better off peeling them off now and re-gluing them (providing you used E6000 in the first place).
