  1. Fantastic Job. I'm sure you'll be asked for commissions!
  2. You can do the drop boxes now. The drop boxes are only located/aligned by the belt, so it doesn't matter what your thighs& cod are doing. Check the control & Centurion pictures for proper alignment. Looking Good Trooper!
  3. Feel Free to use my set-up. The two bar magnets are the ones I received from you. I purchased three 1" round magnets (that I stacked together) for the spacetrooper backplate. I also purchased six 3/4" round magnets and two 1" round magnets (again stacked) for the plates in my Stormtrooper Armor. The round magnets are all rare earth, and all from Lee Valley.
  4. Mounting is one of the bigger concerns with this pack. I'm not a big fan of visible strapping for the Spaceppack, so I'm glad I found magnets that are strong enough to hold it on. Once on, I can jump, twist, bend, whatever, and it's not coming off. Also, with magnets as strong as the ones I'm using, I put a few warning labels on my transport bin so everyone knows there's a strong magnetic field around. Don't want to wipe someone's phone or something!
  5. My Spacetrooper made its debut at a local Comic Con last weekend. The magnets held strong, and I am overall happy with the look and comfort. Some things I am going to do to improve things are, add some padding to my back plate to prevent armor bites from the weight of the spacepack, and re-make my current shoulder straps in webbing vs the elastic I have now. That should help with the positioning of the spacepack on my back and lessen the pressure on the return edge of my back plate. It will also help keep my back plate on top of my kidney plate. The weight of the spacepack kept stretching my elastics as you'll see in the pics. Speaking of pics ... Here are some... You can see here that mu back plate has been pulled down and is over my kidney plate.
  6. The flexible black tube came with my kit. I should mention I have two pieces of coat hanger inside mine to keep some bends and direct the tube over my shoulder when I'm wearing it.
  7. I can't remember if I mentioned color before, but the white is color matched (kind of) to my armor. The vertical cylinders are painted Subaru Charcoal Grey 916, ZSS9S. The grey is darker in pics and in low light, but really pops in outdoor spaces. A more accurate color could have been found with more trial and error, but I'm happy with it.
  8. And inside the vertical cylinders, i went with a crystal theme (also there is a crystal right in the middle fo the main body cylinder).
  9. Attachment points... 4 screws and E6000. Magnets visible for attaching to Stormtrooper backplate. Backplate attached...Two plates glued together by ABS cross bar that is held in place by industrial velcro and the plates rest on ans abs shelf. Magnet Plates
  10. Here's the pack... Internal Cylinder Greeblies from my local electronic supply store and a hard drive I took apart. It's home... Rubber feet and two magnets hold it in place. The bottom (brutal to paint btw)
  11. Ok All, I've got it to the point where it's ready for a Con (this weekend). The magnets hold strong and the paint looks good. Here's where I am... Helmet I wanted to make an aluminum bracket (and I probably still will), but for now, it's some scrap ABS and a piece of bent coat hanger that holds the mouthpiece on. It works.
  12. If you are finding things popping now, then double them up. Avoiding trooping malfunctions is key.
  13. Snaps and E6000 are your two new best friends.
  14. Looking Great Dan! If you decide to bail on the snaps on your boots, you could add Industrial Velcro to the front of your boots and the inside of your shins. The shins will stay down and will not rotate. Works well too.
  15. Looking Great Sha Sha! Love the progress & mods.
  16. Nice clean build Dan. My only suggestion would be that you double snap all connections. Single snaps will pop during trooping antics. It's best to be over built than under built and deal with malfunctions.
  17. Looking Good Kris, Check out the “Advanced Tactics” section where you can see examples of those who have taken their armor to the next levels of screen accuracy (EIB and Centurion). I’d recommend that you aim to build to one of the certification levels, as TK’s look their best at these levels. It's really not hard to acquire EIB or Centurion either, so go for it!
  18. Star Wars! Fun. Charity. Community. Pew Pew. Bad Guys Doing Good. Volunteer. Smiles and Tears. Pay it Forward. Centurion. Um, Star Wars!
  19. Nice cuts Dan & congrats on BBB day. Don't be afraid to hit those edges up with a sanding block before you jump on to the Dremel. ABS sands easily and a Dremel can get away on you. You might no even need the Dremel from what I see.
  20. Here's the back plate ready to receive magnets. Aluminum bracing already glued in place with E6000. Washers are for reinforcement of the holes that mount the main canister to the back plate. This pic is pre-XTC coverage. Here's how I'm retaining the clear cylinder inside the main body; a magnet in the end of the body cap and a magnet in the end cap of the clear cylinder. The flexible black hose that runs from the main body to the thin white intermediate tube has to bend 90 degrees in a short distance, and that puts a lot of pressure on the leg holding the intermediate tube on. I bent a piece of aluminum to make the shape and take the load. I then slipped on the black tubing and fill the ends with wood plugs. Those provide a good gluing surface. Painting has begun ... Oh, and back to the magnets, I ended up using two bar magnets, five 1" rare earth magnets, and six 3/4" rare earth magnets to mount the backpate to the storm trooper backplate. No slots or strapping from the Spacetrooper backplate required. I can shake my backplate like crazy and hold it horizontal ... the spacepack stays put. No Movement. There are two bar magnets and three stacked 1" magnets in the spacetrooper backplate. I created two separate panels that go behind my stormtrooper backplate. One has six 3/4" magnets that are aligned with the two bar magnets. The other has two 1" magnets stacked. You can't pull the panels off, but you can slide them off. I'll post pics up when I take them. I expect to have this ready in the next week or so.
  21. Is the ab plate against your abs? if it isn't, you could trim your kidney plate to suck in your ab plate, which will pull the chest piece in towards your body. Regardless, you'll end up with room behind the chest plate. But that's OK, as it's the perfect spot for electronics!
  22. Gary's solution of Velcro on the boots and shins is a widely used one, and rightfully so, it's simple and it works great. Use "Industrial Velcro".
