New airsoft MK4 L2A3 soon on market
TK bondservnt replied to skyone's topic in General Weapons Discussion
I do not approve of the phillips head screws.. that and the screws on the trigger group housing. man... this is a bummer dude... -
thanks.. the only critic I know is not the designer of the board... anyhow... I like one large speaker as you show but I was thinking there might be smaller diameter speakers with a 3 way treb mid boost feature like those found inside headphones. this way one speaker could be mounted in front near the vent holes open on the left side in front of the bolt section of the blaster... and the other speaker could be mounted facing rearwards at the other end of the bolt assembly. this way the bolt itself would have the speakers mounted on each side of the bolt facing front and rear. and the goal of assembly for me would be to put the electronics in the front of the blaster... with the whole assembly entering the front though the barrel. this way the rear of the spring area would be a soundhole... and the front of the blaster would also be a vent hole for sound. this way it eliminates the need for a screen over the cocking channel.. and improving the overall look of the toy gun. this project is probably the most interesting due to the fact that it's new. I personally don't like the Xciter name.. it's too mod...as a joke I suggest you call it the I blaster.. the name might change... but the concept is the same...

one trick you might try to get rid of the gap is to make the ear screw holes on the helmet larger. keep the screw holes on the ear the same. but with larger holes on the helmet you'll be able to move the ear placement lower down. using washers makes the process easier!

why must my suggestions always meet with criticism? I'm a musician.. and I hear mono as mono...? other blaster setups actually have stereo sound? so why not this project? gee... I guess mono must be better for most people... sheesh? blastercore setups I have seen have 2 speakers... one in the pipe... and one in the counter.. but I guess I'm just not paying attention? X citer... hmmm... i guess mono is fine... ahhhh... does not really matter after all... hmm... not like my opinion really matters anyway?

How to strap the butt plate?
TK bondservnt replied to Cadger's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I think his forearms will come up higher when he's wearing the latex gloves and handplates... without those it will slip down. -
if anyone can find artwork on the X wing helmet and Tie Helmet from the front it would show the source of the design. it's not really fair to make assumptions about AA just from the court case, or from someone saying his pants are on fire. I don't support AA's claims... but I do see a stack of helmets.. and finished products. John Mollo was AA's contact according to AA. and he mentions in his video talking with JM. personally I think that the sculptures done by liz don't look like they were cast if you go from the photos we have there is a distinct difference between the faceplate that liz sculpted, and the design seen as pulled on AA's machines. so there is some kind of re-sculpt from somewhere? and the Jawbone helmet and the Cheesegrater helmets don't have any MQ art that I've seen yet... sure would be nice to have a full book of RMQ's art to check on this fun part of detective work we could all help out with... this is one of the fun parts of the hobby... to try to find the real story! and you have to consider it's interesting that AA mentions the TIE helmet discussion with GL shows that AA must have seen the TIE painting that RMQ did. "George wanted a black helmet from the back only, but I decided to use the stormtrooper face and make a complete helmet" if you listen closely to AA's discussion in the video it's fun to consider!

TK TO TD Ab-Plate Advise Needed Please
TK bondservnt replied to millenium1's topic in Tutorials, Tips and HOWTOs
you can get one at trooperbay... he also has the canvas straps and many other items you might want for the knee plate... abdomen buttons plate and some really cool backpack parts! -
Stormtrooper helmets are costumes... not helmets. so wearing it on a mountain covered in snow would not be a good idea unless you are standing next to the lodge. static display props are usually better when they are authentic... so really should undertstand that the purpose of wearing a stormtrooper helmet in the first place should be one where you want the inside, and the outside to beas close as possible to the original design.

Canvas belt color
TK bondservnt replied to Cadger's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
good point germain! -
actually I was just joking around... Karin makes a good point in her terms... the point being that the hero stunt designation is not accurate to the film itself I think that troopers should be allowed to wear combinations of the hand plate. but the belt and helmet designations probably should stay the same.

I like to call them type 1 and type 2>? heheee...
-
well there is photographic evidence with AA standing next to a pile of TIE helmets? notice the infamous 3rd hose is a lighter grey? and you can see that he's completed one chest box and is wearing the upper body armor. and his DVD series shows him constructing and showing how the base helmet uses an existing helmet with the addition of the mowhawk and greeblies.
-
everyone believes that AA made those... I have not seen any evidence that AA did not make the above mentioned designs.

when I look at the front barrel emitter board.. with the hexagon face? will that fit inside the pvc tube? or will the front of the e-11 have to be sandwhiched to install the front of the barrel? and do we have a line on speakers that fit inside the tube? I'm really impressed with your skills to engineer this... and I applaud your desire to make this work!

ANH Stunt Belt Placement?
TK bondservnt replied to OBIROYKENOBI's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
that is exactly why it's one of those personal judgement calls... and I'm glad that the DO is logical and allows for reasonable variations! accepting variance in costuming is better for the wearer... and for the deployment officer. -

PM sent TK work is my real life job around here... so calling me about this stuff is a daily thing. I work on stormtrooper stuff every single day of my life. so calling me will help me.. and you at the same time. I'm unbiased... and pretty much a go to guy... but there's lots of other people who are the same way around here... we're not like other 501 detachments... we love to help on a daily basis. -

ANH Stunt Belt Placement?
TK bondservnt replied to OBIROYKENOBI's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
it really is a judgement call on the way the original suits were constructed that the belt should cover the bottom of the button plate but in my opinion the belt should not ride lower or higher enough to cover the bottom button. I would say that if the belt just slightly covers the plate, but not the bottom button then you most likely have it in the correct position. personally I make the suits I make with the center of the belt actually attached to the armor with the center button rivet passing all the way though the armor to hold it in the center position. the image below shows a person wearing armor at an event in a toy store... and is wearing the armor incorrectly. the belt is offset to the left and not worn correctly. also the wearer is too short having a belt that is too high or saggs to low looks wrong to me in so many ways. it's like having a cracked part covered with duct tape. BTW I see skin from someone's face inside the lid here. -
ANH Stunt Belt Placement?
TK bondservnt replied to OBIROYKENOBI's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
well if the belt came off the snaps... then is that right...? see it's a balance between the flaw and the idealized. sure there are exceptions in the film... but the 501 does not want costume flaws.. we want the combination of the photorgaphic evidence to match the idealised version of the belt. the original poster asked if the belt should be aligned according to the body height.. but I suggest that the belt be aligned with the Abdomen plate according to the average placement and not just any photo... because the film does not represent the fitting elements of the 501. we don't want mr no stripes... and we don't want duct tape.. and we don't want broken armor.. so my advice is that the belt should be BELOW the abdomen button plate in contrast to the suggestion made before. the standard is created to eliminate the costume flaws from the original production that don't show an average we don't demand bicep hooks... and we don't demand hero setups... so the 501 wants the best average setup... the best way to set up the front of the belt as the original poster is asking is that we ask for the proper alignment showinig all buttons.. just because we have one photo from the film does not mean that we approve of costumes that have that flaw. we ask for flaws to be eliminated. just like ear gaps... we don't mandate that. so when advising a person on the belt placement we want the best average.. not just one photo. the standards were not made by me... it's ac across the board standard that does not discourage but asks for an average.
