  1. Thank you! I'll get to trimming the belt I was wondering why it was so low!
  2. Quick history: I bought this armour many years ago from a member of the 501st on ebay. He stated that he was too busy to build it as he already troops as a biker scout. I still have a few adjustments to make for correct fitting. This is my first time wearing it!! I have no idea what kind of armour this is. Any help as far as identification would be appreciated. Sorry for the iPhone pics! Yes I know my forearm is twisted!!
  3. Ha! Yeah. Guess who heard "I told you so" all afterrnoon! *THIS* guy! She even had clear fabric glue for the edges ready to go for me!
  4. Thank you so much! That is a great idea. Funny enough my wife owns a fabric store and interfacing is pretty much what she suggested right from the get go. Damn. I guess I have to tell her she was right!!!
  5. It took a little longer than I wanted but I have finally sourced some canvass for my belt. Now I am off to sew it but I was wondering what kind of stitch is best to hold it together? I am following the tutorial on this site and the OP there stated he used a zig zag stitch. I have seen several pics around the net including this site that shows some troopers with 1 straight stitch on each end (by end I mean top and bottom), I have also seen 2 straight stiches on each end as well. Does this matter at all or am I just sweating the small stuff? Thanks in advance!
  6. Thank you all for the replies. So I gather that having the belt a little high (partially covering the bottom button) will NOT effect basic 501st acceptance?
  7. HI folks! I am just finishing up my armor and I am working on my belt. Is there an exact measurement how close the top of the belt has to be away from the front buttons? Because I have a longer torso than normal can I just place it to fit? Is it ok to partially cover the bottom button if needed? Thanks in advance
