  1. I think it would be cool to add brian muir and liz moore... and then some factor on elstree model makers? this would help to complete the top of the tree? best sources for that would be the original makers themselves! I'm sure brian M would love to see this! also might be interesting to add the whole AA process of getting bucks from elstree, and then the whole lost process and the restart with the GF/AP re-integration. also would be cool to have CFO added, and break the process down into 3 areas. ANH ANH-ESB ROTJ food for thought? then all we need to do are add photos to the chart.. I would love to have this as a large poster. with the photo tree and the flowchart tree! I'm ready to buy that right now!
  2. I have a real scope and counter for sale if you want them! also you've done a great job! but the only part that buggs me is the front sight knurling pattern... it's only on the top edges on the real thing... and does not go all the way down... just sand some off. want a detailed photo?
  3. not the way it was done in the film... so why did you do it? I hate to be so critical... but I have to be honest.. and I'll do my best to follow up and be productive and positive!
  4. belt does not go on the butt plate... it should ride on the back kidney plate? drop box backs are not right... webbing is not used for drop boxes... on and on the errors seem to flow? helmet brow trim is not supposed to be cut at an angle? it's supposed to be 90 degrees? there are lot's of problems with the fitting photos... man... I can't see right..; I'll have to chime in tomorrow? thermal det screws are in the wrong locations... boots should have NO seams in front at the current point of your build you BARLY pass base acceptance? sorry to say?
  5. sorry I was late to the party.... I would order the trimmed.. this way all you need to to is trim the legs and arms the helmet bolts together with no work... and it saves you ton's of time.. let AP trim it for you and you save time and headaches. I know.. I work with AP none of the other people who have answered this thread know anything about how AP does his work but me. it's worth the extra money... and I know because I work with AP everyday. PM me and I'll help you assemble it.. in fact if you order it trimmed and assembled I do the assembly.
  6. no matter how we slice it... we all belong... 'is this another drill' "did you see the new T16" from shinejob to combat vet... we are all 501. 'did you place the homing beacon aboard their ship' 'they let us go... that is the only reason for our escape'
  7. can I request that this thread title be changed to reflect the status of the replica in question? this is not the sterling L2A3 MK 4.
  8. get a pair of flat long sheetmetal shears. then carefully cut out everything to the forming lines... keeping the proper lip on all the parts.
  9. eventually if you use enough polish your armor will actually become thinner. "we're gonna get a lot thinner" the veterans of the Tantive iv raid call you guys SHINEJOBS. only the best of the best who walk with Lord Vader wear their battle scars with pride. and the hello kitty avatar says it all there mah brother!
  10. sure looks like a series of cleanups from the softer pull details in the RS. almost too sharp?
  11. you have a bapty e-11? know a guy named lee in FL?
  12. actually the regular elastic should be used if you're going to replicate the original type. personally I don't like the ribbing effect? for straps that are going to be seen such as the forearms and thighs and other possible areas the ribbing stands out and can be seen compared to the undersuit. my 02 credits.
  13. the first of the original makers on the list to chime in on the actual situation, giving us all clarity of vision and explanation of the facts. I'm sure we all knew in the core of the hobby that MG was making copies of the forming tools in order to make money. after all if you have an interesting looking product... why not profit from it... must have been MG's motives. I think I'm going to FWD this to abs80 and have AP add his history lesson to the mix! message sent! on a side note... perhaps the term genuine cast could be changed to 'fan sculpt' as I see the FX origins could confuse some individuals comparing it to an original suit casting. I like the square chart in the linear format a slight bit better than the circles... but in the end the charts could both be done any way that makes them clear and accurate. the linear format is a sort of 'timeline' sure would be cool to have dates in a vertical.
  14. you have to use formed backs... sheets of plastic are not allowed. from the crl: Drop boxes must have full inner drop boxes to close the back. Flat covers are not allowed. only for level 3 good luck! kev has some really nice TE/AP style backs.
  15. troopermaster made a pretty clear point to say that the NE kit is recast... and it sure would be nice to have an RS kit and an NE kit laid inside of each other for a direct comparison. if the NE was recast from the RS that would prove it clearly! NE does mention that he sculpted it.. so there still must be some debate!
  16. thanks to tom and the FISD it makes it easy for me to say Troopers Helping Troopers!
  17. I have wanted a TM hero lid for probably 5 years so far,,, dab nabbit!
  18. I like the breakout showing GF1 and GF2... that sounds like a better description! glad to see this getting together... now all we'd really need is to have the producers themselves show their comments on the data to get a clearer picture. nice work!
  19. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/20999-howto-make-snap-plates-3-different-ways/?hl=+snap%20+plates adding rivets and tape seems to work well for me!
  20. hero on left stunt on right narrow face only 3 bumps in the tooth area. not 4 different forming tool. different structure. hero faceplate above showing details where no 4th bump is present? stunt faceplate showing 4th bump and even the infamous 5th tooth
  21. to do hero properly you need a hero faceplate!
  22. ok we all have 2 ears... and this is a pointless meaningless criticism. so what basis in science supports that no real guns are heard in stereo sound? blink... and I blink again... I have 2 eyes... so I must only see one point of view? and I have 2 ears... so I must only hear one sound... in mono.... of course... 2 speakers wired in mono...? huh? I'm sorry... but science does not support this silly notion. we all have 2 ears... and we naturally hear in 2 channels. to each their own... and may the individual choose their own path...
  23. you added gaps...wow... can you see through the helmet like the originals? I mean really... if you add screen accurate ear gaps the helmet is see through!
