  1. the small lines on this look a lot like my sterling finish. just hit it with sandpaper to make it more uneven. knock off the shine... the magazine well/ clip and T Tracks and sightrail are all smooth flat black.
  2. at year start it was not much going on that I could attend.
  3. thanks dan! i signed up for event and will be at least able to troop in chico for an event!
  4. well I didn't even know I went reserve status until legion elections! lol! was going to hit the hockey game but my car exploded!
  5. got that? our garrison has so few events last year! and i'm 300 miles from garrison center? also i was not noified? request my status be upgraded. i'll be trooping april 26th
  6. blink? where'd she run off to?
  7. the blasters in star wars were british issue sterlings painted with surcote. then painted flat black. on a real surcote paintjob the magazine well does not have a crinkle finish. the photo you are using is a police issue sterling which has the more modern crinkle type finish! only the crinkle coat finishes were used in the american promo shots using a resin scope. look at the flat black paint as seen in the film! sad to say crinkle paint is not on my 1960's sterling... but it's not smooth either? then we have the promo photos in contrast. which used prop guns that did not fire and were more modern police issue crinkle jobs. none of the props were left with the original sterling paint period! lee malone owns a bapty screen used blaster and the magwell is not crinkle painted. only the body of the gun is wavy and bumpy. lee malone's screen used bapty! note the bumpy but not crinkle coat? aluminum billet at rear aluminum grip riveted in aluminum strip trigger guard with no trigger solid cocking channel with rod for charging handle wooden dowel inner front barrel missing T Track hole on side shows location of retaining wood block in front of aluminum pipe bolt (don't go making your blasters with missing T Track holes on them! this is the only one made that way!) dont use just any sterling photos for paint referances! use actual screen shots or screen used blasters for referance...
  8. keep in mind that the real firing sterlings did not use 70's style krinkle paints. the blank firing weapons were painted with a russian paint known as surcote. this was primer and paint in one pass. it produces a finish with lines and waves on it's surface. the crinkle paint was not british issue. all the L2A3 guns used to fire in the film were 60's style. in the promo photos shot with the principal actors in america were 70's style crinkle police versions. the paint used on indian, and iran and canadian made sterlings were all different types so we see in the real world several different kinds. a smooth finish should never be used on a star wars e-11 blaster! and keep in mind they were not shiney! they were painted flat black by roger christian and karl from bapty.
  9. if you buy on ebay doopy do works
  10. 1.25 pipe is the wrong size. a pipe kit sells for 45.00 usd for a kit without a scope counter and T Tracks. usually a scope and counter and T tracks should not cost 55.00, then add accurate power cells.
  11. perhaps then the goal would be to simulate the structure as you did with the inner bolt rear? by bringing the assembly to the top and only making the channel appear thinner? or just lop off the end and keep certain parts? if it were me I'd lop off the entire rear, and keep the lug area for the end cap... and just have a real working bolt area. this way it's just the front and the T Tracks area to keep.
  12. ID will need change... and you won't want a real spring anyway? those are the wrong shape anyway? enlarge rear area and use wire wrap... will look better!
  13. sometimes I wonder why... but then I just choose to enjoy... i'm interested in this thread only for the joy... nothing else... personally I don't like the way certain people think...
  14. when you are done with the base construction, most likely it will be so amazing that you won't be able to tell it from a real sterling demil? and hopefully the paintwork will be properly bumpy, as the firing sterlings were painted with surcote a type of russian paint that creates a bumpy pattern much like zinc parkerization. most people paint the sterling receiver with a smooth finish, and when you look at the films only the T Tracks sight rail and counter are smooth. The contrast between the bumps, the smoothness and the paintwork and weathering really sells the realism. that and glossy grips... and you'll be looking at a work of amazing art here! did I say amazing enough times? and it's correct to drill out the holes in the counter to put the wires in, as they were not soldered to the pins... the ;pins werre pulled out and the wires were stuck inside the holes. I don't know how you do it steve... you should work as a dentist making teeth!
  15. velcro is easier to put on.. for sure!

  20. I've been saying this stuff for 8 years. now it's in a video and an infographic. I like the graphic much better... should be a 501st handout at events! DISPEL THE MYTH! many troopers died for vader's orders... and tarkin's misguided faith!
  21. the video does the same thing... nice with that ^
  22. the stormtroopers were ordered not to shoot han solo, luke skywalker and the others because they put a homing beacon aboard the falcon.. done deal the topic has been covered on facebook and it is a PLOT FACT from the films.
