  1. ah! now I see Rt/mod. thanks for the heads up mathias...
  2. there are at least 5 AM troopers with the EIB badge on site on the first page of the EIB request thread. most have swapped out their helmets, but one seems not to have... ----------
  3. Happy Birthday! for all your contributions and graphic work, from blasters to CRL's you're the man!
  4. you should not have screws in the location where the ear screws attach. the ear screws are flathead countersunk 6/32" metal machine screws...
  5. happy birthday! glad to see you ...
  6. Root boots are the name of the originals.
  7. brandy keg, for when those beagles can't wear helmets.
  8. I vote for julie to raid our barracks anytime!
  9. keep the glue away from the back of the snap, cover it with duct tape. make the snap tab large enough for glue spots that don't touch the snap. you can MELT your armor with e6000 and snap aluminum. the glue generates heat when in contact with metal... and I mean a lot of heat!
  10. anyways, I think that the ABS suits didn't need painting. TM can probably add to this...
  11. I personally think that changing this CRL does not really represent the variables seen on screen. having velcro, tape or glued down completely would cover both films quite well. large tab in front and no large tab in the rear, with ANY of the options listed above would be much better. the only major variation is free floating with white elastic as the variable for ANH. so to make anh/esb versions would simply require no white elastic and velcro or tape to hold down the rear for the ESB variation.
  12. fastening the belt to the AB armor also helps a great deal in handling wrinkles... and it's screen accurate to attach the belt to the abdomen! don't think I've ever seen a holster like that, all stitched at the edges... very different and interesting...
  13. when you look at the shepperton design studios photo it looks like everything is white abs. Andy didn't lie about anything, he's just being taken out of context quite a bit. the main point AA tries to make is that he was part of the process used to make forming bucks from the originals that Brian and liz created. AA re-sculpted the shapes to allow for vac forming. so he modified the shapes for the process. I think it's really sad that people don't understand more clearly AA's part in the team that was assembled for the making of the film's costumes. I think it's great that brian has actually named the original source for the sculpted body cast.
  14. sadly enough that profile is not correct.
  15. I personally think that having the ANH/ESB rig setup should not have this variation for shoulder straps. if you do a lineup of every trooper in ESB, I'd have to ask someone like TM... how many ESB mark II's were there in ESB? what would be the ratio for modified shoulder straps in esb? 50 50? 20 80? having the shoulder straps glued down, and free in back or floating in back and having the rear large tab cut off seems to be the variations seen in ANH and ESB in my opinion. has anyone really noticed that the rear LARGE tab is cut off on most suits in these two films! on some suits both large tabs are removed. there is a lot of variation in the construction of the chest / back on the first 2 films.
  16. gotta love it man!~
  17. long may joker squad live in the 501
  18. I think this build and kit looks really nice!
  19. Troopermaster makes a great point here, as does mason. I think that the HDPE helmets probably had a smoother finish in ANH, than they did in ESB. then you have the factor of age and paint, and the storage elements produce even more bumps, and paint chipping. and the fact that the helmets were re-painted at least 2 times up until ESB was filmed. in some shots you can clearly see that ears are put on wrong, helmets assembled with different shapes to the brow height, and different types of eye cutouts... all sorts of subtle differences. paul is right about the noticable bump pattern, and that's the result of the mould buck.
  20. like I said, the outside was sanded, but you can see some of the defects. I have no caps. I think that the bumpyness is caused by the way the primer, paint and outside of the helmet are different than the inside. so this is basically a comparison between the inside of a helmet, and the outside. I would say that you can see on screen the difference in finish between a painted HDPE and an abs... as well!
