  1. Yes, as said earlier, It is easier and cheaper to build your own.
  2. Forgot to post back here. THANKS everyone!!!
  3. Hey Guys, I'm Dave C (TK-34288) from the Empire City Garrison. On of the most memorable troops for me was at a place called St Pat's Kid's Camp in NY. During this troop there were 5 of us White Armored troopers. This was great to see at one our local events on a warm Sunday night in July. During the troop we were not given a place to set anything up or have a banner to take pictures, they just asked us to walk around and mingled with all of the participants. This was the last day of their week long camp and we were the finally of there science day. There was about 200 kids, plus their families and staff at the camp. After we were out for about 1 1/2 hours we heading back to a cottage house that they had for us to change in. This is the time during the troop that it was made to be so memorable for me. While there, one of the staff came back to thank us and this is when I found out about the program which floored me. This program is a week long camp for children with cancer and other blood disorders which are terminal. Being told by the staff and what it meant to the kids, their families and to them to have us there, where we were the finally of their science section of the camp was so amazing. We were told that some of the kids will not make it through the year for the next camp. This in itself made me realize what kind of difference and joy we can bring to a group of people or just one individual by just donning our imperial trooper armor for them. It doesn't matter whatever the temperature, the day of the week or what we have going on, to be able to do this for them can change that one hour, minute or second of the day for someone and make that memory for those that may not be here tomorrow or the ones that are left behind. This is just one of my memories since joining this incredible organization. Thanks to all that want to put these costumes on and make a difference.
  4. Yes, As Preston said, try it on with the undersuit as it will fit different. You want a little room because when you move your arms they do get a little bigger. You should be able to put at least 2 fingers in there to be sure the fit is good. That's what I go with. Good Luck!!
  5. Going back to all of your questions, Yes Brad is correct. As far and the ABS or Webbing for the snap plates, just be careful of the webbing snaps the E6000 and the metal snaps can sometimes have a reaction with ABS and may make a little deformity where they all meet which is your armor (doesn't happen all of the times but may). As far as the black webbing connecting everything, yes its for looks with the black under suit, they blend together.
  6. Yes, Daniel is spot on in my opinion. Here is also a link for those TD screws. Nice job so far.
  7. Great job, very nice build. Congrats on your approval!
  8. Yes, once the cover strips are added you won't notice the uneven cuts.
  9. Congrats Jeff, good word of wisdom you gave also. Now get out there and get a troopin.
  10. Yes, you are ok to remove them. As Randy said, they will chew up your boots. Also, the shins are supposed to be tight to the boots, which means you need to remove the return just the same as the bottoms of the forearms.
  11. If they are small enough and not noticeable it shouldn't be a problem.
  12. From the pictures (from the angles) they look a little short to me for being untrimmed. How do they fit on you just trying them now? If they work then go with them. On some commission I've done I've had to cut almost 3 inches off of the thigh sections to fit correctly so I wouldn't be worried without fitting them to you yet.
  13. Looks like a good build. Nice job on the helmet. Just a couple of small things that I noticed, as said before just move the forearms and biceps down a little. Check your thigh straps and just make them so that the thigh's sit on the same height. The cover strips on the fronts of everything should be even with the ends of the armor. These are just some minor things I saw. Good luck on your submission.
  14. I mount mine with a slight gap. I use cork glued to the helmet and then I am able to crew the lenses into the cork so I can always change them easily is needed. The gap I have you cant even notice. Its probably less then a 1/16 of an inch.
  15. Yes, nice build on this. As said above I would just close the gap on the leg also. Remember you wont be able to go off of everything from the screen pictures for the 501st (we have cleaned some thing up). Also, this will take time for wearing, how is it walking? You may just want to cut the top back of the tights down a little. It will make it much easier walking in your armor (that's just a comfort statement). Nice job though!
  16. As Joseph said, Using a heat gun can ruin a piece of armor in seconds and it is very hard to come back from that. If its just for armor try using a heat bath first. With that being said, most heat guns have a temperature setting on them so you can adjust the heat as you want and anyone with a temp setting should be fine for what you need. I have a generic one and a Milwaukie one myself. If you are going to use them practice on scrap pieces first and be very careful.
  17. The CRL is correct for centurion the gloves need to be "rubber or rubber like chemical gloves". the quoted section is for basic and EIB. The latex hand guards will be needed for centurion also. For trooping the nomex gloves work great. You can feel things and hand out trading cards without a problem.
