Ok here we go! On behalf of the staff, I would like to thank all the entrants for their truly inspiring design submissions, these take time to put together and think creatively to come up with art work that is different from what we have had in the past, and we are grateful to have your talents in this fine detachment. All entries were placed into a Poll on which staff individually cast a vote. From this we determined the winner. Without further ado, the winner is Etrooper70 (Eric) Congratulations for a fantastic design!!

This Contest is now closed. Thank you so very much to those who have submitted truly incredible designs, this is going to be a tough decision indeed. The staff will shortly have an opportunity to cast a vote in a poll to decide the winning design, and we will bring you that outcome in the next 24 hours. Thanks again.

This will finally be fixed this year, a remedy has been worked on
-
Indeed you are all correct. Entry is not limited, the only thing that is, would be non 501st purchasing the merch, which they would not have visibility to the sales thread in any account. They all go into the 501st only area. We have mentioned the winning design is gifted a piece for that exact reason. So in that effect, we cover all bases and requirements.

Welcome back Garrett! No rush sir, work on it when you can and we will be here for you.
-
Great information Dave, I look forward to seeing your success with this project. I can already see it being very helpful to many.

Wow, this is the first time I have seen this with resin parts. I had heard of the possibility but never actually seen it. Thanks for the photos, I think this is great for others to see when considering resin printing and cure times. On the flip side, I am sorry it happened to you but many of us can learn from this as well. I assume you use a UV cure container but do you recall what your cure times were so you can increase them for the next print?

If you are working on a design for the coin competition please remember this closes off on May 1st, you are running low on time to submit your entry.

I also hope that you will strive for our higher levels of accuracy Expert Infantry and then Centurion, you are already showing the hallmarks of determination and a clean and beautiful build so the glory is there for the taking. Keep up the great work sir. -

Hi Darren As I am unsure exactly what you know about us and the 501st, here is some further information to help you along the way. If you are keen to join the 501st, the UK Garrison is your home location. www.ukgarrison.co.uk These guys are able to assist you with meeting other troopers, help you with building or modifying your armour and ultimately responsible for approving your costume to the minimum 501st standard. We have created help guides called CRL's or Costume reference library's that give you all the info you need to be able to build or modify to a degree, your armour at basic entry, level 2 called Expert Infantry and lvl 3 the highest level of accuracy we have called Centurion. Not all Stormtroopers are the same, so there are separate CRL's for each version from the original trilogy of movies. ANH Stunt ANH Hero ESB RotJ Take a look at this link for the CRL's https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL If of course you are not planning to join the 501st, then most of this will be irrelevant to you, but we are certainly here to help you look as authentic as possible and realise your dream. Welcome to FISD

Looking good Iman, also no issue with removing all the return edge from your biceps. The screen used armour had almost no return edge anywhere except where needed to mount the piano wire brackets on some of the body pieces. Comfort while trooping is an absolute priority.
-
Good to see things are still moving along for you with this build. Not long now and we shall see you as an approved 501st Stormtrooper, very exciting.
-
I cant see an issue with updating the title of the R1 CRL, however, as with all our costumes we have used the film title as the easiest and most recognizable prospect for everyone old and new to understand. This means I would not be in favor of removing the Rogue One form the title but happy to add maybe something like (Anthology) in the title, that should give it sufficient separation or understanding for those inclined. Originally FISD was simply for Shiny white TK's, this is why there has not been a CRL created for the Endor variant of trooper from ROTJ. yes there has been discussion over the years but no one prepared to make the costume. As others have mentioned, it still takes a member to want to put in the hard work to co write the CRL and build the costume complete with reference images. First step, have minimum 4 reference images (front, back , left and right side) This is a minimum for the LMO's to entertain a new to legion CRL. Then you need a list of descriptions that differentiate the costume from an already existing one. Seems to be more mixing and matching going on with hard armour than with a soft costume making it a little more difficult for someone to build without decent modification. Princess seams are comparatively easy as opposed building hard armour lol. You guys want this to happen, put the cases forward separately so I can start dialogue with the LMO team. Trust me its easier to start here than to build a costume then try and get them onside to have it as an approved item. There are more of them now which means more scrutiny at basic level so be prepared.
-
Correct Eric, and no need to show a variant for EI based on the comments.
-
As Glen has mentioned a couple of posts up, references will be mandatory to having a costume that satisfies the Detachment team that will work with you on creating a CRL, and most importantly the LMO team who ultimately can say yay or nay. Be prepared for scrutiny form both departments, but it is what makes new to legion costumes so rewarding in the end. Take all the advice you can from those here who have built the R1 style costumes as they have remedies for mistakes they may have made which will be hugely beneficial to you in the long run. Also be mindful there may be others working on the same costume and pushing for the same end goal of first in legion, so keep an eye on any build and discussion threads you see. If you are the only one, then others are sure to follow in your footsteps so make sure you have a good detailed build thread. Photos and process description will be a key element for you and others.

Wouldn't it just be on a Gold coin as opposed to a silver ? I think the edge needs to be smooth as we usually have the numbers etched on the edge to keep track of EI coins too.

What about this armor can’t be approved?
Sly11 replied to TK7892's topic in TK Pre-Approval Questions & Discussion
For that matter you won't need side shims for basic approval at all, you will for Lvl 2 up as Glen has mentioned. -
This should never have happened in the first place. It goes against our own mandates on what is usable as an accurate reference for a CRL, it was never seen on screen and as far as I am aware, has never been seen in Galaxies edge as a live action costume. The LMO team will not entertain Black series figures as a single point reference in creating a new to legion CRL moving forward. Even a Hot Toys which have a very high level of detail in comparison, would not be usable as a single point resource. Screen captures are our best option always, as I know you guys are aware so if we don't have an image, then the Black series wont form part of the consideration. It's always been tough with artists impressions for other costumes new to the universe, and these are generally supported by reasonable to highly detailed descriptions in novels etc so using Black series is an absolute last resort and will be a very tough sell to the LMO team in general.
-
Reference images are key to any new to legion costume, you will need adequate references to support your build and the general minimum requirement is front rear alert and right side. The LMO team will require those or other substantiating evidence to be able to green light any CRL for a new costume. My guess other have halted because they could be waiting for more footage and references in the coming season. Action figures as a rule have not been allowed as an only reference point. Excellent but you have not added your image correctly. here is an easy guide on how to add them directly to your threads without just showing a link. Very excited to see you bring this build together. if you are the first then we will need to work together to create an accurate CRL so make sure you do plenty of research and have as many reference images as possible.
