  1. There were probably some rubber stunt blasters made in all the films. On close inspection this particular one has some average paint lines etc and the main piece could well be for that. We tend to run with the hero versions which are most commonly seen as per the bulk of references we have and also what we have been assisted with by one of the prop makers.
  2. The last line is my favorite
  3. It is with great pleasure FISD presents Commander Pyre CRL officially approved and open. Congratulations to Dino (Sano) TK 75608 for his epic work bringing this character to life from the animated series Star Wars Resistance. This one was a long time in the making and we are excited to finally add this new costume to the detachment roster. We now stand at 21 CRL's https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:Commander-pyre
  4. You are powering through this build
  5. Just read your PM, I'll send it to you shortly. I assume you are chasing the version on your side bar?
  6. Hopefully you come back to this project in the future. November is a very important month for you indeed, hope your preparations for the new arrival are almost complete.
  7. Nice repair trick Gerald, I've used other methods but not tried this before.
  8. Justin, as you are building to this CRL, it is not up to us to provide references although we do plenty of research for every CRL to assist. As has been mentioned, there is a base CRL for TFA FOTK, as this game version looks to basically be the same, the base CRL plus some differences the base CRL should be adhered to. In real world we know those things exist and you are building a real world costume based from a game which is quite obvious they design from the actual costume, plus embellishments created for the character. It is up to you to provide references that these things do not exist. This is the basic principle of our CRL's and yes the 501st high standards compared to other costuming clubs. Not created by me or any of the current staff, but simple rules that the detachment has continued to follow over the last 15 years. Why should we want to settle for less, when these are things most of the membership are very very proud of.
  9. Good progress so far Tyler, you are doping great.
  10. Wow Marissa, great accomplishment!! Welcome to FISD and congratulations on your TK approval.
  11. Also just looking through the CRL early draft in this thread, I don't see a reason why the centurion level items should be struck out, considering this character is based off the TFA FOTK, things like palm stitching and the way boxes seams are not filled, and other items should absolutely remain. It just doesn't make sense not to have them included as you are building this in a realistic fashion, not in a game render fashion. These are also optional levels so there is no pressure for anyone to build to that level , but if they have a centurion level TFA TK, then they have some options to make a Pauldron and secondary helmet plus any other differences, to have a another costume from the base and also hit centurion with that. We will definitely have a detailed look at this and flesh out the wiki origin doc before submitting to the LMO team. The build is coming along nicely Justin, almost there.
  12. Ooh I actually love the green lights on the side of the blaster, that's kind cool and a great point of difference for the CRL. Is he dual weilding!!
  13. I love the trimming part of an armour build, ha who am I kidding, I love the entire process! With every cut comes confidence, with every examination of a reference image comes learning and knowledge, with every glued and assembled piece comes progress and excitement, what is there not to love. Keep up the great work and updates Jim, you will be at the finish line before you know it.
  14. This is correct, but we build them, i submit them to the LMO team who all go through it and if they want changes made, that then comes back to me to discuss with the member building the costume. The LMO may also discuss it further with the member. If they say no, then that's where it stops until the member makes costume corrections and in turn we update the CRL appropriately. Finally it is Green lit, appears in our CRL list and members can start building to it.
  15. UPDATE Remnant TK weathered version will be its own CRL. What we can and cant add will follow but we should still follow some of our basic principles else it makes a CRL convoluted and too confusing for GML's, members and DO to follow. You would assume generally each TK is set up the same, but in this time frame and disjointed after the empire era, it shows that isn't true maybe by intention, maybe not. What is clear seems to be some had an Anovos helmet where others had R1, that has to be on purpose one would think. I can see that being in a CRL as its pretty easy. I think a line will need to be drawn on what is most commonly seen like we usually do else this makes for a long CRL with a rather large number of disparities. Not something our members are used to. We don't have a level like the MEPD which is pick a Sandtrooper from the screen and replicate it, down to the weathering and finer details. This Remnant TK could actually fit that bill, but we haven't attempted this before nor do we have a level currently to facilitate it. That bit will go under staff discussion and as always we roll with a vote the democratic way. What I do want, is for this to become a live CRL, but we need one very important factor. A member ready and eager to work with us and build this costume so we have everything we need to complete a CRL. Most of the writing is complete and its looking pretty good and is all in this thread. So I put it out to the membership, who wants to be a CRL model for a first in legion costume!!
  16. Look I agree that the pauldron parts don't match the references as tightly as we may like, but I think as Justin mentioned, we can look to update this at a later date. If we add dimensions, that makes it difficult for GML's and members alike, we don't measure distances on a basic level as we don't handle the approvals, we just build the CRL. Will some complain, yep some always do! but for higher levels, that's where we can be more picky and make more stipulations. Not every CRL model is Centurion level, although it is desirable, this is a partly new to legion costume. What we can't control is any given GML saying no that pauldron isn't right compared to references, and trust me plenty of GML's out there do use reference images to do exactly that. I would suggest, for EI or centurion we get down to closer referencing of subject matter, and make the pauldron part of that. There are plenty of costumes getting around legion that look far from the picture, in general we are pretty darn good, so we cant make this up in higher levels. Purely my opinion and as always, happy to be wrong
  17. Welcome back Patrick, clearly its hard to keep a good trooper down, and we are most glad that you are back in the ring for another swing with the 501st. Don't forget to post some photos when your Sandy is complete.
  18. Weathering for EI is an easy addition. That images does look to be lightly weathered and the lived in look adds to the realism for the costume.
  19. Hey all, hope everyone is doing well. We have just completed a small update of the Rebels animated series Stormtrooper CRL. Finally it has a synopsis at the top which was completely missing, and now you can also have the Chimera logo on your Pauldron if you so wish. There may be future updates for this CRL to include other item. https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_rebels Stormtroopers were the foot soldiers of the Galactic Empire, tasked with enforcing order throughout the galaxy. They wore armor similar to that of the clone troopers of the Old Republic, and were considered the spiritual successors to the clone army. Stormtroopers under the command of Grand Admiral Thrawn had the ability to wear the Chimera insignia, as seen in the animated series Rebels. This appeared on the pauldron showing absolute dedication to their commander.

  20. Standard CRL updates and creation always require a set of screen references and a fully built version of those to be considered for a CRL. These need to be presented by a member, but I haven't seen anyone bring forward images of a built Animated version of the DLT-19 which is the requirement. This CRL has already been approved for the update and editable version locked by the LMO team so it is again available for membership use. As we have a list of CRL's requiring attention, and this one managed to skip the queue, I have to say it is now closed, and any further additions will need to wait until we look at this CRL again in the future. If you have the required references and a built DLT-19 that look/matches, as I imagine like the Rebels E-11 it might look quite different from the ANH live action DLT-19, them may I suggest placing them in this thread so they are ready for the next revisit. In fairness to all, I am now back working on other CRL's from said list that did take precedents over this one.
  21. Welcome aboard JM.
  22. I have never see an image of the soft parts although no doubt it exists in Gino's collection. Below is the remake EFX claimed they would release, where they claimed matched the fabrics and the measurements from the film articles.
  23. Here is an image of the very set of armour now up for auction. this is a photo from circa 2013, and is the same kit that Gino from EFX had the opportunity to take a full set of internal molds from. The story goes that the collector actually also had the original undersuit and neck seal, of which were also replicated down to the fabric patterns. If you are lucky enough to attend a SW Celebration, you may actually meet Gino who has had his full cast set from this armour on display. The armour has definitely yellowed considerably when compared to this photo below.
