  1. I'm not sure what to do with the Chinese embassy (银河帝国中华大使馆). It looks like a forum update destroyed most of the chinese ideographs.@Locitus Is there a way to recover them? Otherwise we would need to archive most of the chinese subforum. @Frank75139Who's the Chinese Garrison Attaché at the moment?
  2. Hi David, welcome to whitearmor.net! Feel free to ask any questions, whenever they pop up.
  3. That was my first one too! There is a conversion kit from... well, yeah was a conversion kit from doopydoos.com, it's currently out of stock, like most of the stuff there. Good thing on that blaster is you can give it to a fan for photos and there won't be much damaged if they drop it.
  4. If you swap out the helmet, it is indeed approvable for basic. But it might take a lot of work, depending on the condition in which the armor is now. But for 500$ you can also get some decent kits out there. You'd have to build them from the start on, but they are far more accurate than FX. I started my journey with a FX armor ~ 9 years ago and wouldn't do it at that price. Even back then, I paid less.

  9. These are the colors you need: Satin Black: Humbrol # 85 or Testors # 1747 or Revell #9 or Tamiya #X18 or RAL 9005 for vocoder, trap/ tear drop/ear bar outlines/stripe(s), ROTJ and ESB frown, TD screw heads. Gray: Humbrol # 5 or Testors # 1138 for trap/tear drop/ear bar background, ANH frown and ab-buttons. French Blue: Humbrol # 14 or Testors # 2715 or Revell #52 or Tamiya #X4 or RAL 5010 ForTube stripes/ab buttons. (Mediterranean Blue Humbrol (Tube stripes alternative color) Testors: No exact match) Gloss white for all rivet heads (excluding cod rivet). Mediterranean Blue is optional, doesn't have to be. Most people use the French Blue for everything Blue.
  10. The traditional and of course most accurate way is to vacuum pull the parts. But in modern times as 3D-printing has become more and more popular, people have become more creative. Since this is a relatively new developement, there is not too much to find, but some stuff is out there. you may want to look at these threads and forums: 3d-Printing Subforum https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/201-3d-parts-and-technical/ Rogue One - TK https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/49826-the-bigjasonis-rotk-3d-print-build-thread/#comments A New Hope - TK https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/50523-ctpg-anh-tk-files/ If you're looking into 3D printing FOTK, someone else needs to chime in, I'm not that deep into the ep7-9 troopers.
  11. It might be useful to have an Overview which sections are completed, which need to be done and which are in progress. @Sly11 and @gmrhodes13 please mark the completed sections I missed. I've gone through this thread and whenever one of you said a section is complete, I marked it green. Glen is working on Hard Armor (General Discussion) at the moment, so I marked it yellow. All Others are red. If you've completed a section please edit this post and mark green. not done yet in progress completed (Command Staff) (Extended Staff) Communications Center Announcements Forum Help & Support New Recruits Getting Started - Read this First! 12. Doopydoo's has been known before for being unresponsive and taking a lot of time to restock. They might be available again in a couple of months, don't expect it to be back in a few days or weeks. But even if they don't respond, you always get what you ordered and the quality is superb for a resin kit.
  13. regarding your questions: 1. your hovi tips alignment looks great, they do not point too far down! 2. I like to use the highlighter cap technique, even though I don't have a highlighter but some other plastic cylinder where the diameter fits. If the mesh is precut, fitting the inner diameter of the mic tips, then it will result in the most accurate and most painful way of assembly: you will need a pair of tweezers and super fine drops of superglue. If the mesh is a milimeter too wide or so, you'll have to trim it down. You may also find a roll of insect screen at your local hardware store. They usually do not cost a lot and you can cut them out by yourself to use the highlighter cap technique. btw: this thread is quality content!
  14. As far as I know, Hyperfirm (HFx Productions) is no longer around, but Praetorian Blasters is a former business partner and sells foam E-11s. Another vendor to consider if you want a "soft" blaster is Hellhounds Props, they make rubber E-11s. https://www.facebook.com/BlasterMaker https://www.facebook.com/hellhounds.props I personally prefer to build the blaster from a kit, either doopy's or 3d-printed. Especially the doopydoo kits come at a very low price and are highly accurate, as they are molded off a real sterling. They are out of stock at the moment, but they are usually back very quickly. https://www.doopydoos.com/ekmps/shops/filmfreaks/stormtrooper-e-11-complete-anh-e-11-blaster-kit-offer-2685-p.asp
  15. Welcome to the FISD! Most important is to check out the Getting Started section: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/38-getting-started-read-this-first/ apart from that you might want to look at MaskedVengeance' resource index thread. That's the last link Glen provided for you. It contains a great overview list of threads for beginners. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
  16. The lasertag blaster is a great idea! If you can share the configuration, I'd be very interested and I'm sure others would be too. Good luck with your 3d-print helmet, I'm really looking forward to that. (I own a CR-10 Max 3D printer). Jasons thread definitely shows how much effort one can put into a 3d printed armor. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
  17. Congrats!! Now off to this section: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/160-newly-approved-members-sound-off/ I'd also like to motivate you for reaching higher levels. Our LvL2 standards for Expert Infantry are not far off from the basic approval. You'll find all the information about the EIB program here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/95-expert-infantryman-program/
  18. Sometimes the mold dimples don't fit perfectly, it might be better to start with the ear pieces. clamp them on and then drill through all 3 layers. you can keep the one screw you already have.
  19. Looking forward to see you progress within the next few years. Maybe you can move the target deadline slightly forward. Let's say 2039? Man, I can so relate, I have a bunch of open projects laying here since.... well I can't even remember, but it's been years!
  20. If you have a look on your ear pieces you may notice that they have 3 marked holes for drilling. This is where the screws go through. If you screw the ears on, the different plastic layers are pulled together and the gaps nearly disappear. Anyway that seam will be covered by the earpieces later. the 3 markings are also on the outer shell of your helmet: The hardest part is to trim the ear pieces, so they fit smoothly around the tubes. I used sandpaper to achieve that. Take your time, measure twice.
  21. I glued a small scrap piece of plastic as bridge inside my helmet. I mounted my fan on it and stuffed the cables underneith, that way everything is in it's place. here's a picture: it is glued in like this and even has enough space to hide the fan battery:
  22. I used these pliers from prym similar to the ones @themaninthesuitcase has, but they have the same issue as your Dritz ones with the plastic bits on the tips breaking out sooner or later. I might print some replacement bits for them with my 3D-printer, though. https://www.amazon.de/Prym-PRYM_390900-1-Vario-Zange/dp/B000P1ASDI/ref=sr_1_3?__mk_de_DE=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&dchild=1&keywords=prym+druckknopfzange&qid=1609755372&sr=8-3 But it shouldn't be that hard to modify an eyelet press like this one to use it for snaps: https://www.amazon.de/Edelstahlmarkenshop-Ösenpresse-Ösenstanze-Nietenpresse-Druckknopfpresse/dp/B07CGRKDCV/ref=sr_1_7?__mk_de_DE=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&dchild=1&keywords=Druckknopfpresse&qid=1609755487&sr=8-7
  23. The helmet gloss looks excellent! To the shoulderstraps: paint reaction can have different reasons, either the layer underneath reacting with your paint, temperature issues, too much paint on one spot, etc. etc. It's sometimes really hard to not get an orange skin, but it looks like you've found your way! Did you polish the clearcoat at the end? I agree your thighs might need some trimming for better movements. Great thread and very good progress over the holidays!!
