  1. Very creative - what a neat idea. Thanks for sharing - I hope it inspires others to create similar artwork.
  2. Start To Finish I wanted to be a stormtrooper since that very first time I saw it back in '77. My favorite action figure, and now I get to be one. It never grows old, ever.
  3. Gio is like Dan Laws - great stuff but you will wait forever and there is no communication. All we can do is to allow people to share experiences, but given that he does not sell here there is not really much else we can do. One of the key reasons for detachments to exist is the dissemination and capture of transparent, objective information. So, the hopefully at least we can have aware buyers...
  4. Wow, the attention to detail and quality is beyond reproach. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences - this is probably the best F-11D build thread I've seen.
  5. Well, if all we have is photos we do the best we can.
  6. Well, if it's more than just accessories then a new CRL is the way to go. Here is a good analog: In the IOC there are numerous variations of what a crewman is like. All are encapsulated in one CRL (per jumpsuit color) with option choices getting tightened in L2/L3. However when there is a major difference in the underlying suit then there is a new CRL. The ISB officer is a different CRL even though it's a black officer with a different tunic. Does that make sense?
  7. Shawn - you are so reading my mind right now.
  8. Wow, excellent work guys! As you know, elections start in a few days, meaning that probably no CRL changes will happen until they are done. However... By ironing this stuff out now while elections are going on, if it's all "shovel ready" then by the time they are over, it means we can move fast to get stuff updated. Sound good?
  9. I like the concept, but there isn't really anything that screams FISD on it. I think the thought was to have FISD branding, etc. E.g. a mix of FISD + Celebration
  10. FYI, BHG is doing a patch, so perhaps that's a good alternative (cheaper for sure, can put anywhere).
  11. Thanks Joseph for kicking this off. Troops - in addition to knowing that *your* design is worn by many and the kudos you will earn, I'll throw in some swag to the winner.
  12. My $.02 regarding antenna - the reality is that there is EI & Centurion (FISD awards), and there is trooping. To get EI/Centurion you have to comply with standards, but once achieved there is no stricture that you have to troop in that configuration. You can always have a removable antenna and keep it for fun stuff like cons. So, instead of "no antenna", perhaps "use best discretion".
  13. Yeah, that's a fair question. However the goal of the CRL is to do the canonical character we see on screen and does not include wardrobe flubs. It can be had to remember, but back in 1977 the only way to see the movie was at the theater, it didn't come out on VHS until years after, and even then our TV's weren't much bigger than your computer monitor today. No one freeze framed or Blu-ray'd, and to be frank the costuming departments back then didn't care as much about continuity as people obsess about today. Which is why you also see Mr. No Tube Strips, background officers walking the hallways with straight leg pants and no rank bars. Heck, you can see the gaffers tape on the TK's in places too. But again, if you were to watch this on the big screen back in 1977, no one ever noticed, which is why they didn't spend more time on such things. OK, that's a bit long winded, but the tl/dr is that the CRL's don't capture continuity errors, flubs, etc.
  14. You will need it to get EI. Once you get EI, how you troop is up to you and your GEC.
  15. I'm continually impressed with the outstanding results the staff achieves; each issue surpasses the previous. I have informed Lord Vader personally, and he is quite pleased with the issue. In fact, he mentioned it's the first thing he reads the morning it comes out. My continued breathing is IMHO a good indication of his continued advocacy and enthusiasm for these newsletters. Outstanding work!
  16. Here is a good reference: http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2014/03/turkey-facebook-youtube-twitter-blocked Alas, Turkey is now blocking Twitter & YouTube, but so far FB is open there. I mention this as we do have a good size China garrison, not sure about the size in Viet Nam.
  17. Mike Appling made me a set of bubble lenses back in the day that were very easy to see out of, not much different than flat lenses. I haven't tried Troopermaster's so can't say.
  18. One thing to consider - Facebook is not accessible worldwide so we may get issues with peoples in those countries being blocked from seeing that content. China and Vietnam are two countries with 501st garrisons that will not be able to see that content. Photobucket may be cumbersome, but at least people can access it.
  19. More reasons to correct this in the next film..
  20. Wow, looks great! Can't wait to see you get approved. Too bad TK-1138 is already taken. What TKID will you be requesting?
  21. So, the path forward will come down to the CRL and guidance thereon. Joseph has made some excellent recommendations to the HWT CRL that are unlikely to get done until after elections next month, but we'll see what we can do. It's on my radar at least, so we're tracking it!
  22. Oh, and also this cool story about the re-shoots for Rogue One: http://www.theverge.com/2017/1/15/14268850/star-wars-rogue-one-reshoots-disney-gareth-edwards-tony-gilroy Glad they made the changes, as the movie rocked.
  23. Thanks Wyatt for the link. Man, I need to get copies of those books now.
  24. Thanks. You are 100% correct that in ANH stormtroopers were actually outstanding marksman, who were ordered to let the princess escape. In ESB you can clearly see they were not to be messed with, and guided Luke to Vader. It was only in ROTJ that Lucas wanted a kid-friendly, happy ending where no one dies, etc. that it began to be a bit of a joke. In the NT, the clones & troopers were also extremely aggressive and were good marksman. I hope this is the beginning the end of the bad meme of TK's not being able to hit anything, which unfortunately is encouraged by some members of the 501st (shame on them) for laughs, as if TK's are clowns.
  25. For basic/EI looks good to me, at least.
