  1. The logo has remained unchanged since we've started, though we did use an alternate "logo" for the coin, which I think works best for round designs. Or do you mean the new background of the website?
  2. Every man (and woman) has their hobby. How about golf? Even more expensive, and no charity involved. I do know women with over $10,000 in shoes. And we all have known guys who sink far more than we do in armor on their vintage cars or boats. Or, we could be alcoholics, cheat on our wives, workaholics, etc. All in all for an idiosyncrasy, it's not a bad one.
  3. Well, I'll be selling the FX soon enough and will find out first hand. Man, are the prices on that kit falling or what?
  4. So far we have as many folk over 40 as we do under 29 (10 each).
  5. A picture's worth 1000 words - fantastic
  6. There is another thread about this, it certainly looks the same when color corrected. See this thread for more info: -----------
  7. How old were you? It came out two days after my 9th birthday. What year? 1977 What movie theater (if you can remember)? Somewhere in downtown Chicago What city? Chicago, where I was born/grew up. Any other interesting info surrounding your first "experience?" I didn't want to go, and had to be convinced. Once I saw that Star Destroyer soar overhead, I knew it was something special. I feel lucky I saw it at that impressionable age where one is not yet jaded, where you believe in magic and the world is full of mystery, and mysteries are something to be enjoyed. An age where you are always willing to suspend belief.
  8. It's awesome! Thanks so much Greg!!!
  9. Wow - nothing beats a comparison shot. Thanks Mike
  10. I updated the poll to add more choices for us older folks than "40+". 40 seems very old when you're 20, but now that I am 40, I still feel pretty young, and have 40 more years in front of me. Still hope to be rocking the plastic in my 70's for sure.
  11. Thanks Kev! I noticed on the trailer I saw there were some other variants not covered on the action figures - I know I posted about it on 501st area but can't find the thread - but I'm wondering if they can provide caps on them as well.
  12. I'd say lower the butt. FWIW, I have to say getting this to sit right was the hardest part of getting my armor adjusted and since I have no an impolite person I had to put a little padding back there as well. Took forever it seemed! I say this only so you know you're not the only one to have butt issues, and not to get discouraged
  13. I think the screen caps will be more definitive. Looking at the photo refs I'm not certain that the black lenses, tears, traps, and tube stripes are intentional, and if for the action figure it was chosen for cost/simplicity. It's worth noting that the action figure complies with ANH/ESB Elite details, such as closed side gaps and what appears is a split butt/kidney plates.
  14. Excellent start - thanks so much Kevin! I've updated the CRL to reference the base stormtrooper requirements (to avoid duplication) and to match the CRL format provided by Mark/Rhonda: A Felucian Stormtrooper Officer Must have - Comply with the Must Have section of the Stormtrooper CRL - Have rank stripe details in Duplicolor Royal Blue that exactly match the videogame and action figure references posted above. - Royal blue tube stripes & rank stripe matching the videogame & action figure references posted above May have - Armor can be battle-weathered (minor scuffs). - A Dark Navy Blue undersuit of the same style as the Stormtrooper undersuit may be worn in lieu of a black one. - A Dark Navy Blue neckseal may be worn if it matches the bodysuit color and if a blue undersuit is worn. - The holster may be white instead of black, but otherwise must match the Stormtrooper holster requirement. - Traps/Tears may be black instead of gray - Lenses may be bubble green or flat black, in addition to the accepted base variants.
  15. Note: CRL discussion moved to it's own topic.
  16. I think it's looking great, especially for a first time! You did a great job with the thighs btw, most people don't get this to look as good. Some minor quips: 1) Tighten up the shins a bit. 2) I think the frown is painted too large. Take an exacto and scrape a bit off. Else it looks like a gray ESB frown. 3) Tighten the biceps a bit - they also look loose. If you have skinny guns, you can add a little padding on the inside to keep them from sliding (I do). Heck, split the but and I think you can hit Elite right as you are. Great job!
  17. Hola Joel - there is already a SuperTrooper on these forums (he's the Detachment Leader). You'll have to choose another name, I'm afraid.
  18. I'm sorry my Spanish is not good enough to reply: access granted Joel! Welcome to the FISD!
  19. So I have the stomach bug and broke out my old poncho liner to wrap myself in. My 3 yo daughter asked "what's that?". Which got me wondering... Back when I was in a poncho was a grunts best friend, then we got those rain suits with a top/bottom. They were OK, but you couldn't use them as a rain tarp Even w/o ponchos anymore, everyone seemed to carry a poncho liner anyway due to their versatility. I'm curious what troops do today - what's the current equivalent?
  20. The FX kit has come with black buttons for years, which is weird as black buttons only appear in ROTJ. The canvas belt is an easy fix later.
  21. Hi Jerry, You may be surprised to hear that there isn't a current, approved 501st standard for stormtroopers. There is one in the works though. Here is was was submitted. If you hit this list, as a GML I can say for surety that you'd get in today. If you're starting from scratch though, I'd really recommend going Elite from the beginning. It's much easier to start out this way than modify a costume down the line. --------------
  22. Lord Vader - the Battle Station is fully operational and we honored by your visit. Trooper Tanner - the weapons range is now open for your use.
  23. I haven't found anything fast + long lasting I'm afraid. I use ABS cement for ABS. Takes a while to cure, but has held for years.
