  1. Congrats Alain - the first Elite Stormtrooper in the Great White North!
  2. For your size AP or TE2 would fit great (I'm close to your size), but I totally understand about wanting a fully trimmed kit for your first go. You'll do fine with RT - it's good looking armor and easy to put together. Personally I prefer an AP bucket over RT (for ABS), but that's your call and an RT will still look good. Congrats on taking the plunge - fun awaits! And as always don't hesitate to ask questions. I think the fact that we get so few regarding RT is testament to how easy it is to assemble.
  3. Same boat. I'm just getting a second belt for this reason
  4. With pleasure! Congrats Michele & Bobby!
  5. Thumbs up all around. It's amazing how striking the difference is. Easy pass, I say
  6. Lou's right - give him a few days and it should work itself out. In the meantime recruit, you could provide us with progress pix as your armor progresses
  7. You know Darman, with all these tweaks her rig will probably end up looking better than yours. But then again, it's as it should be for our wives to look better than us ;-)
  8. Much better! That butt plate is tricky enough as is - you nailed a very hard element there. Chest looks noticeably better as well - great job! I wouldn't touch it, and at this point think you'll be fine w/o moving to AP. I'd trim the shoulder bells up a tad though (1/2" to start?) when you work on the thighs. Kudos again - this is coming along really, really well!
  9. I forgot one but was reminded on my drive in: subwoofers. If I can hear your radio in my car, you're music is too loud.
  10. Thighs: this is just an issue with the FX thighs that they're very barrel shaped, and yes we're referring to the gap at the knees. You have to trim at an angle and some folks use a heat gun. If you have some cash, you can always try upgrading to AP. FX Chest: yes, trim the bottom. I saw TK4205 actually use a mark one eyeball and free hand trimmed the bottom of someone's chest with nothing more than a knife. Others stack a few coins with an exact blade which allows normal humans to track the same curve. Replace: definitely with an AP, as it's smaller and has a more correct sculpt. You should replace the chest/back as a set. Belt: also replace with AP down the line. It should be fine for awhile, this is only if you want to get anal in proportions. No doubt getting FX to fit on a smaller person is more of a challenge (the sculpt base was someone 6'+ IIRC), esp. the thighs which are a challenge for almost everyone. That said Darman, we have utmost faith and confidence in your being able pull it off. Michele will be the first female Elite and you'll be the first married Elite, so being sooooo close with just a few items to go...just think how awesome it will be when you're done!
  11. As always my prayers and thoughts are with you Tony. Injured or no, depressed or no, you have many friends in the world who wish you blessed and pain free life.
  12. Actually you can take any FX kit and upgrade it to Elite for about $50 not including helmet replacement.
  13. What Bernard said. Long term you'll probably have to swap out the chest and perhaps the belt I'm afraid.
  14. Any commute longer than 15-20 minutes. Actually, inefficiency of any kind torques me bad. FWIW, once you have screaming babies of your own, others' won't bother you as much. Oh - and people who don't know how to spell, or at the least use a spell check.
  15. Tease - more pix are always great. I'm sure Scott or Terrell can photoshop out the counter for CRL pictures. Heck. The ANH shots would be extremely welcome as well.
  16. Holy smokes! Now *that's* an introduction. Scott, I suggest we just give him ESB Elite right here and now unless you want to call out the ammo counter. Way to lead Mike!!!
  17. I'd suggest browsing this part of the forums. This question has been answered at least a dozen times over. Here are some links: ------- And I agree with the PM. This detachment is about sharing information openly. AFAIK there's nothing secret about where to get boots, so I'm not sure why this is not openly discussed.
  18. Reminder that the only links that count are to the 501st boards directly. Garrison boards are not considered trust-worthy enough.
  19. And that's going to be a blast! In GT we have three Elite TK's with three more just one mod away. When you have a line up of well done clean TK's it's very impressive. Hey, it helps fulfill the dream I had when I started this place - that great looking TK's can look as sharp as any other costume in the Legion. Go white!
  20. No border crossed. In the end it comes down to there being no single one best helmet as people have different criteria for their selection, and weigh each criteria differently. These kinds are polls though are great though for seeing trends year after year
  21. The only 501st approved bucket that you can't get Elite with is the current FX.
