  1. I as well. He was the best through the door stormtrooper in the galaxy, and a good friend. apologies to Ben Kenobi
  2. I'd be afraid of loosing the TD as well. The drop boxes are a cool idea, but I think I like the idea of something being behind my chest plate. We used to use these in the military - could work: ---
  3. We used to use these in the military - could work: http://www.uscavalry.com/Productinfo.aspx?...D=1&CatID=2
  4. Meltonian Nu-Life color spray 617 white is what the cobbler used on mine. It seems to be doing OK. You still have to touch up a bit though.
  5. Hah! It's the other way around - the unpimped out FX will stand out like a sore thumb. It's not the AP per se - if you had 4 Elite stormtroopers one wearing TE2, AP, FX, and RT respectively they'll look much more uniform (and good!) than everyone wearing FX and one guy being Elite. It's not the armor - it's what you do with it. There is no way an out of the box FX looks more professional than an AP. Period.
  6. Dude - that's awesome!! Good looking ROTJs are very hard to find (most IMHO aren't that great). I'm excited to see you taking this on.
  7. That's very petty and immature. Kinda like saying "I don't want anyone to be better than me". It's all fine if he wants to keep his own kit as-is (I have no problem with that), but discouraging others? How rude.
  8. I'm laughing. You know in my garrison non-FX armor was kinda poo pood for awhile. It just takes one or two AP suits to show up and then everyone starts going "oh my". Even if you stick to FX, they'll start pimping them out. When everyone is base-FX no one cares, but you put one next to a few AP and all of a sudden...you start noticing things... Fortunately for FX guys, there are *lots* of ways to pimp it out to make it look good.
  9. Everyone: Dave just got out of 10 days in the hospital, so if you've not been hearing from him that's why. In true soldierly fashion is first comments were "I'll get to everyone immediately" to which my reply was: "Get better first!" Please keep Dave in your prayers folks!
  10. And clone buckets too
  11. I bought Dowco Helmet Bags from Xtreme Revolution, but you can buy them anywhere. SKU is DOW-59001-00 I'll upload screen shots unless I can find the previous thread I posted in - they're the perfect size and were like $12/each.
  12. Absolutely. While we strive for the highest quality costumes we can, FISD is home to ALL 501st TKs, not just Elite.
  13. For the kidney/butt I ended up having to hot glue some foam to certain parts to get it to sit correctly on mine, and I veclro'd them together with three wide strips. I think you could cut some more from the kidney - typically there is no overlap between the three parts - they abutt each other (no pun intended). Or, you can just raise it up an inch - a little overlap won't hurt. Also remember to try this all on with the belt, which will affect how things lay a bit, at least it did for me.
  14. Perfect response and I agree 100%. Couldn't have said it better myself!
  15. I'd suggest doing due diligence and checking out AP & RT as well. FX may be easy to get, but with a little research you can find out more info. Some is public, for instance RT's information is openly available: http://www.rt-mod.com/ Most start with FX because it's the least expensive and easiest to find for a new person. That said there are at least 5 makers out there, and with a little effort you can gain a lot of education. My $.02...
  16. I've owned and wore three TE2's, an FX, and an AP. I've tried on an RT and an ANHv2, and I've seen an MRCE in person. The only bucket I haven't held in my hands is a TM. In general the AP & TE2 are the same size. The RT is a bit bigger overall, and the ANHv2 between the RT & the FX. If you use the search feature you can find the comparison thread I created for ANHv2-AP-TE2. As for what "fits" much has to do with the pull, how it's assembled, and how it's trimmed. Lining up the TE2s, AP, and RT the "largest" and "smallest" was the TE2 in terms of being able to put them on. See what I mean? As has been said over and over, it all comes down to your particular sense of aesthetic. And, how well you get it to match the rest of your suit. A well done MRCE will look better than a crappily built AP, etc.
  17. Actually I think MR took parts of one of TE's helmets, scanned it, and then just mirror-imaged it if I remember correctly. I know Gentle Giant also scanned a TE for one of their figures - not sure if they did the same symmetr-zation or not (alas, I have $$ for armor but not for figures).
  18. At 6'0" I look like a bobble head with the FX - you certainly will. I'd suggest going with AP.
  19. I'd like to see a finished set. This project was to be completed earlier this summer, and before that completed last year. So it's a bit behind schedule...
  20. Updated! Great to see another Nordic garrison member on the boards
  21. Wow - this is one of the most methodical build threads I've ever seen.
  22. Thanks Pete!
  23. Dude - where are you? You should totally come hang out with us Garrison Titan members. How can we fete you with a dinner if you don't let us know?
  24. PP is just a means of exchange. In the end it comes down to whether or not you trust the seller. The more you know, the less likely you will be burned.
