  1. No worries David - you didn't think we'd snatch defeat from the jaws of victory on you, did you?
  2. Does this mean you'll join the 501st so you can vote ? ;-)
  3. I looked at two vids: Inside the gantry area where Han is sitting. I can't see any side gaps, but maybe I'm missing something? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYl_ZLpLYHw Also the entire detention block/rescue, again no side gaps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0yDRanajY8
  4. When we first created the EIB and specified close side gaps we really didn't think that anyone would use fabric like vinyl, and when people did it was hard to say "no" as we didn't call it out otherwise. However I have to say that for me using a fabric material that folds looks worse than having side gaps there. I'd like to propose we update the language to: 1) Not allow side gaps to be made of fabric, or IOW specify that the gaps be closed with a plastic shim that matches or is painted to match the material of the armor. 2) Grandfather in existing EIB who are using fabric 3) Optional: give any exiting EIB 6 months to upgrade or else loose active EIB status (they can always re-apply, and they will remain on the list just not be marked as active). Thoughts?
  5. Agreed. Aside from the side gap material it looks good to me. While the current EIB allows vinyl future ones may not, and I'd really suggest moving to a true shim at some point, as IMHO a side gap looks cosmetically better than a flexible solution.
  6. Bump - last day to vote is today.
  7. My hero lenses were made by Mike A. While perhaps not 100% accurate (not vac formed), they're quality and I can see pretty good out of them. I'd be curious to see what it really means to be "accurate".
  8. Guys - lay off the personal attacks. We already had to shut down one thread today.

Clint Eastwood would be pretty funny. "I know what you're thinking. "Do I make a left at the intersection or a right?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement of trying to find the freeway I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is south central LA, the most notorious gang neighborhood in the world, and people can blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?"
  10. Thanks Mark! A picture is often worth a thousand words (or: the proof is in the pudding if you will).
  11. Correct me if I'm wrong - but is not the consensus that TKX is just AM via a reseller? IIRC this is how it played out on the Legion boards. If you want AM, just ping Deckard directly - no need to go through a middle man if you don't have to.
  12. The new FX - now called AM - is also big guy savvy. You can check out any AM thread for more info.
  13. I have to say Rolf, this is a phenomenal build. For Pablo to call you one of the masters is about as high a praise as you can get That said, I agree the biceps could come down a bit. Don't hate me !
  14. The det looks awesome. Proportionly I'd like to see it against a 2.5" belt - I have to say the 2" looks a little narrow, but I did some line drawing in Paint.Net between your suit and the screen cap comaring the belt to the bottom tab on the butt plate and guess what? Both came to the same proportion - .7, so while visually to me it looks narrow when I measure it, I think you're spot on (or maybe 2.25"?).
  15. OK, there are four polls open in the detachment only area that are soon to close for EIB & CRL for TKC & HWT. And...only 9 votes? What's up with that. Guys - this is pretty lame. Vader is not amused. Please don't make him angry. :vader1:
  16. Deleted the last three posts - don't get in to personal attacks folks.
  17. Lucas will put out as many variations as he possibly can. I'd love to see SW in 3-D, if only to see it on the big screen again. Actually my fav version is the one done by that dude who cleaned it up on his own - name escapes me now.
  18. Is it that bad? Pablo - you can always post here what you did there, too, if it's helpful to the discussion.
  19. Geez - nit pick why don'tcha mate These are way beyond even EIB requirements, let alone 501st. Every GML should pray for such an easy applicant. (still, if you want to go to the max this is a very valid point).
  20. Utter rubbish and not salvageable. Best send it to me for proper disposal (yeah, like Noel the only downside is it's not mine )
  21. SuperTrooper (Terrell) handles these and tends to do them in batches. There are three outstanding - my presumption is that they'll be on the next batch but he can confirm.
  22. There was some banter between me and SuperTrooper about how much FISD has grown, with him pointing out that FISD is probably one of the largest forums in the Legion aside from the main Legion boards when we count members and number of topics/posts. However I think we should put this in to some context - and I'll admit I don't frequent non-501st SW forums like TDH or RPF as much as I should. For instance, check out this Avatar forum (I love Avatar intensely). www.Avatar-Forums.com Threads: 3,137 Posts: 78,556 Members: 3,677 Most users ever online was 2,038 Currently Active Users: 582 (151 members and 431 guests) They are getting about 2000 posts PER DAY. Try keeping up with that
  23. It's a great start. Runnriottt was working on one at one point IIRC. It would be great if this were updated - the goal is not to start a debate but to have transparent information. Also, this is just helmets for the most part? It would also be great if a similar tree could be done for suits. As a bonus - FISD service award for anyone who can come up with an updated tree for both helmet/armor. Yes, it's a flat out carrot but these kinds of things are really great to have.
  24. OK, starting to get off topic guys. FWIW, this has been the most civil thread we've ever had on this area, so let's keep that going
  25. Will - I think you will find that if you ask for ABS glue or E6000 on these boards people are happy to donate. Alas, you are being the guinea pig for this armor and as such the discoveries you're finding are really paving the way for everyone to come after. Perhaps we should rename this thread to reflect that. I'd make it sticky but there are some many bumps its' not necessary ;-) Seriously - if you are running low on supplies shout out and some will be shipped unto you. PM me your addy and I'll ensure a few tubes of E6000 or whichever ABS glue you need get sent your way.
