Everything posted by Daetrin

  1. It is covered by SpecOps as it's a variant off of a costume they own - the Stealth Trooper.
  2. Oh - and one more thing Brian. Ideally in my mind the CRL entry should have both a base 501st approved HWT and someone in a "SHOULD HAVE" mode, which is really our EIB requirements. This way people can see both easily. The immediate need is for the base CRL.
  3. None of them are posted because none exist. Technically there are no centrally approved CRL's of any kind on the 501st Legion site. Each det is just creating, approving, and publishing on their own in the hopes that some day there is a Legion sanctioned CRL again. More about the CRL project and why it is where it is should be sounded out in the 501st only area.
  4. No, the CRL does not but the EIB does. And yes, you'd have to have a canon pauldron. I'll sell you an orange one if you want ;-)
  5. Wrt to the box I can give you the dimensions of mine. It's just sheet HIPS that was cut and glued together if that would help. The disk - alas not sure about that matey.
  6. Thomas the LMO posted this about our visual references: So I'm throwing the guantlet down! If any of you feel you have the goods and want to be featured as our model Heavy Weapons Trooper, here is the place to apply. What do you get? A raise? Swag? Alas not, just the ability to say that it was you who helped define this costume for the 501st Legion and FISD. With Unquestioned Loyalty -- Daetrin
  7. WRT to pricing; my understanding taking to some of the guys who form is that ABS prices can fluctuate a lot and have been high lately, whereas HIPS has been less expensive to get - sometimes by quite a bit per sheet. Not sure if this is still the case.
  8. Alas, I can't add it to my cart? Interesting find and this is the first anyone's brought up the different implementation of the t-rack, at least on this forum. Great find!
  9. :dancing-trooper: Awesome news! Post pix when you have it - it's one of the coolest TK based costumes.
  10. CRL passed unanimously with 18 for, zero against. EIB passed unanimously with 17 for, zero against. Both are now official. Congrats all
  11. It's what I'm doing too. If you're smart about it you can probably re-use the same belt and have two different holsters, or you can simply have two belts. Here are what I see as needing: 1) Second set of hand plates 2) Second helmet 3) Second holster 4) A belt that can support both holster arrangements, or a second belt 5) A blaster with a detachable counter, or a second blaster Else the requirements are 100% the same, so it would be silly to require two full suits.
  12. Thanks Peter. The reality is that any healthy forum is really a reflection of the membership. Us as staff can create the framework and help keep order, but in the end forums are created by and for the membership at large. Aaron has done a brilliant job of creating the site and the normal pages (EIB, intros, etc.) are already done, ready to go. We'll create a single tutorial set as a "master" and will stub the rest, and hope that everyone working together can make it pop. Just like this forum really - as staff we create the sections and load some initial threads - it's the members posting day in, day out that make this such a great treasure of information and welcoming spirit.
  13. I bet it will be OK once she sees the $$ come in. Diapers & formula are expensive and while a build takes time can pay for a lot of kid stuff.
  14. Thanks for taking care of this Mark
  15. And yes this is something that we as staff know we're desperately behind on. Too much work for too few hours in the day. I can commit that soon we'll launch the first phase of the Academy site and it would be great if everyone can pitch in. I think we've seen what happens in the 501st when a few people try to do everything - nothing really gets done. Things like CRL's, etc. are really dependent on many people doing a little bit of work rather than one dude trying to carve 80 hours out of their work/life.
  16. That's a great idea Chris and I'll (along with Aaron/Terrell) have to keep that bee in my bonnet as we re-do the EI members page. I actually track the date that everyone got their EI status in the same xml file, it's just a matter of deciding how best to display it. Instead of a color we can always just use the month/year perhaps? I suggest this as typically the EI requirements aren't getting major overhauls anymore like MEPD did, but instead just have small incremental updates as time goes on.
  17. No. The only way to lose it is to sell your suit (retired) or leave the 501st (inactive). Detachments have no intention of being the trooping police, certainly not FISD. No. Again, like MEPD that came before us we're not here to tell people how to troop. This is spelled out pretty clearly in both the detachment charter/vision and also the policy for EIB. I quote: "The goal of this is not to force people to achieve the higher standard, but rather to demonstrate what the costume can become and recognize those who achieve it." That's it. No annual checkup. No policing. Agreed 100%. We can spell this out in policy but I'd think it common sense. Anything else is disrespectful to our members and unprofessional. Agreed, which is why we're not going down that path. Guys - EIB is a simple concept and we should keep it simple. Else we lose the fun aspect of this hobby.
  18. Geez - this is just incredible. Sorry I've nothing to add but gush.
  19. It's a beautiful bucket - the only downside in time is that you have one. I suspect this will be the first of several you own
  20. Polls closed - both passed by overwhelming majority (28:1 and 23:1 respectively).
  21. FYI that both HWT polls are closed, and both passed with only one vote dissenting on each poll. IOW, the CRL & EIB for the Heavy Weapons Trooper are now official FISD policy as voted on by the members.
  22. Thanks everyone - expect a poll in the det only area soon to vote on this change.
  23. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hth
  24. Four to go - only one row left on the EIB page to knock this out.
  25. Woo-hoo - congrats on #96
