  1. Truth be told, I don't, but how else do you introduce a Star Wars Holiday Special? Apparently, there will be a Star Wars themed episode of Sportsnation on ESPN2 tonight. I don't think it can reach the levels of the Star Wars Christmas Special ( ) but it is Star Wars, and it is on Television. Tonight. Check it out: http://comicbook.com/2014/10/29/star-wars-halloween-special-to-air-on-espn2-sportsnation/
  2. Congratulations Craig, and welcome to the EIB ranks!!
  3. I think I'm just as excited to finally see your build get underway as you are!! As the others have said, Rob is in full tilt production... There are definitely going to be more giant TKs in the Empire's service. Peripheral vision??? Did you check out your shoes yet? LoL You will need to keep your eyes peeled for an opportunity to wear an apron in your armor. All the cool RT kids do it. I'd email Rob about the PVC. Yeah, it's easy to run and get it, but I'm sure he'll square you away with one, and you can focus on your build. Good luck, measure twice, ask once, cut. Also - have fun!!
  4. Good luck Craig, your armor build looks and fits really good. Nice work! The only thing(s) that I see that might need to be addressed are centered around your belt: It looks as though the top and bottom of the plastic belt could be trimmed a little bit closer to the boxes height-wise, you might need to tighten it a bit so it sits closer to the ab buttons, and it is difficult to see if the outer edges of your drop boxes line up with the ends of the belt. EDIT: Oh, and with the Hyperfirm blaster, you might want to take a little bit of the brass shine off of the scope, too.
  5. Thank you, Ricky! It is definitely something that I'm quite proud of. I look back at myself staring at pieces of it in January and thinking "I just hope I can actually build this thing" and I look at what I accomplished and yeah.... very proud of it!
  6. This is an interesting topic for sure, and I believe that I also fall somewhere in the middle. While building my E-11, I debated about "real" vs "screen" for the finish/final appearance of it. Ultimately, I stopped and said to myself "Yes, the E-11 is based on a Sterling SMG, but I'm not building a weapon based on something else, I'm building an E-11." That moment, for me, truly clarified everything and pulled me from the prop-realistic lane I was sort of dancing in because at the end of the day, much as Ingrid said... Off the screen, not off the set. As it has been mentioned, we are representing characters from a military structure. Trust me, I get THAT all too easily, and that is part of what led me to go with a Hero TK first. That was what the sculptors wanted the TK to be seen as for close ups. That was the details they wanted to have on display. So, I choose to keep my armor shiny and white. Something that will always stick in my mind: during a Star Wars Reads Day that I was a part of at the Fort Rucker Post Library less than two months ago, a TB was using a Star Wars ABC book to have the kids guess what character/item would be on the page for the next letter. When it came time for "S" they guessed Stormtrooper and that was correct. When he held up the picture, one of the children (probably about five or six) pointed at me and said "THAT'S YOU!!" Very quickly, a boy (probably about seven or eight) next to him corrected him "No... That isn't him. His mouth is gray, and the one in the book has a black mouth." That kid was maybe eight years old. He clearly had an interest in Star Wars, and probably had seen it, but every time I hear, or read "the general public doesn't know the difference." I hear that kid who wasn't maybe alive when the prequels were made pointing out that subtle difference and remind myself that the public may not KNOW, but they see. I always want them to see what they expect/envisioned while watching the movies, as opposed to what they'd see if they went for a tour of the prop department.
  7. OMG!! MUST. HAVE. THIS. Several of them!!!!!
  8. WOW! Congratulations! (yeah, I think. LoL) I'm going with June 16th, 12:04 am. Blue bucket. Soon appearing in Connecticut: The Walt Outpost.
  9. Being vetted on the list requires the vendor to meet certain requirements. That is up to the vendor and the FISD leadership to decide if/when a vendor has met those requirements and will therefore be placed on the list. Having said that, a kit from a vendor on the vetted list is not a requirement for Legion, EIB, or Centurion approval. Regardless of the maker of the kit, if you build it to the level required for each of the above approvals, you will receive it. You should have no reservations about buying an MTK armor kit if your concern is being approved. If you go and look at the EIB and Centurion application/approval threads you will see several of them there.
  10. As always, an excellent newsletter - Many thanks to the newsletter team!! Congratulations (again) to all of my fellow advanced tactics awardees! Tremendous accomplishments, to be sure! beginrant\ Great news about the FX/MRCE helmets. While they are indeed a strong link to the past and the origin of the Legion itself, I have found (during my short time associated with the Legion) that there is sort of a double standard out there. It appears to me as if the rest of the Detachments celebrate their advanced tactics awardees quite grandly. It also appears to me that the minute a TK or the FISD start talking about submitting EIB or Centurion, or raising approval standards, those same other detachments begin throwing around the terms "elitist" and "armor snobs." It can't be both ways. The FISD is the largest detachment of the Legion - nearly a full third of the Legion is TKs after all - and the origin of the Legion itself is the TK. Indeed, we should lead the way in accuracy when it comes to costumes and in my opinion, the Legion itself should expect no less of the TK community. /endrant
  11. Thank you Ricky! Your TD is going to be equally awesome. Can't wait til you get those digits! Coming soon, eh?!?
  12. Nice find!!! Very cool, indeed.
  13. Hope someone steps up... I'm just one of those "Photoshop Jockeys!" LoL
  14. Excellent stuff!! Christmas is just around the corner, and books like that would be excellent to find stuffed in one's TK Boots after a visit from St. Sheev.
  15. Definitely yeah... #8 would be my first choice, followed by 3, 7, and not 4, 1, or 2. 10 appears to have a tag on the side of the elastic too, upon a closer look so no 10 either.
  16. Awesome work, Sven!!! Congratulations on Centurion! Looking forward to being welcomed by you to the ranks relatively soon!
  17. If your hands barely fit, then you're probably as tapered as you can go.
  18. Congratulations Steve, and welcome to the ranks of EIB!!!
  19. Your forearms don't look like they're tapered. It looks like the wrist end and the elbow end are the same size, basically.
  20. Ryan, you've already been given all of the advice that I was prepared to give after reading your post... Steve is correct, RT would definitely be too big for you. At your size, you can pretty much choose any of the screen derived armor kits - as Steve pretty much also spelled out for you. tkjames, as Eric pointed out, RT is available from RT-Mod. His list for 2015 will be opening in January, and when you get sequenced on that list will determine how soon you receive your kit. Here's where you should be looking to get an idea about the armor makers: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/
  21. Looking good, Andrew! The only things that seem to jump out at me a bit are the button covers on your belt. Are they recessed, or are you using two different types on the same belt? The one on your right - the left as you're looking at it - looks a little different than the other two. Aside from that, perhaps your wrists are a little bit tubular looking, and your TD screws could be black, but those are more general observations than requirement stuff. Lastly, you don't have a photo showing the back of your bucket. You did a great job painting, show off your traps! LoL I think you'll be good to go pretty easily. that's for Steve to say though.
  22. Looks like you've taken your first step into a much larger world, Joe! Looking forward to your progress, DEAC conversions are always exciting!!
  23. Could be that the drop boxes contain information sensitive to the security of the Empire. If so, TKs would be under standing orders to secure or destroy them if a fellow trooper fell, in order to prevent the contents falling into rebel hands.
  24. I expected Steve to tell you to make another and send it to him for further inspection as I was reading his post. Since he didn't, send the extra to me Awesome work on the T-tracks and the documentation, as always Aaron!! RPF is a dangerous playground. LoL. As is the Astromech builders forums, I'd imagine.
  25. Aye, Steve... I believe that is yet another piece of Gaffer's tape. You'd think that by the time that they were filming ESB, they'd have had a bigger budget for the costumes, no? LoL
