  1. Thanks for sharing that, Jon. Great news for troopers everywhere, to be sure!
  2. Greetings Hunter, and welcome to FISD!!! RainTrooper touched on some very good points, namely - have you already purchased armor. Aside from that, I've seen some other people with similar questions answered this way: When you think of the Stormtroopers and your desire to become one... What scene from the trilogy is it that you see in your mind. Do you see formations of TKs in the hangar bay on the second Death Star, waiting for the arrival of the Emperor? Do you see the TKs shooting their way into the hallways of the Tantive IV? Do you see the TDs stopping the landspeeder in the streets of Mos Eisley? Which scene is it that turns your mind to the thought of becoming a stormtrooper? What are your favorite scenes involving them? Ultimately, whichever movie version you decide to build is a purely personal choice, and your reason for choosing it is equally personal but no matter which you decide upon, you will find answers and help here within the forums of the FISD. Congratulations, you've taken your first step into a larger world!
  3. If you go and look at SorenM's armor, and his EIB application thread, you'll see the exact same situation. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/25232-tk-29066-requesting-anh-stunt-eib-status-tm-343/#entry317471 He ordered his built by TM, and after receiving his TK number I believe all he did was take pictures and submit them for EIB.
  4. Absolutely brilliant!! Like so many others, I love the statue bit. One day, I'll do that to someone. LoL Thanks for sharing, and great job!!
  5. LoL Dave... I think I'll just keep my camera hanging near the door once I've been told that my box is on the way. I'm exactly with everyone else: Congrats! Looking forward to the build, and NOM NOM NOM! I couldn't have said it better, so I simply did not try.
  6. Reading the forums will set you on the right path, Mick. You can never go wrong reading more of them!
  7. Spike TV has their Star Wars Holiday going on again today and I saw it in the guide literally moments before ANH began. I turned it on and called my 2 year old son over to watch it with me. He immediately recognized R2-D2, then the Stormtroopers and Darth Vader. Fast forward to docking bay 94 (because this is, of course, the "special" edition) and the moment that Jabba appears on the screen. When my 2 year old sees him, he declares "Poo-poo, ocky." Even he developed a quick opinion about the special edition tweaks. I'm glad we were eating when Greedo fired first so he didn't have to see that.
  8. Greetings Jason, and welcome to FISD! There is a thread in this same "Getting Started" forum that directly addresses which armor kits are best for larger/bigger troopers. I apologize, I'd have posted the link for you but for some reason, I'm unable to copy and paste at the moment (I have no idea why). I'm not quite as tall as you are, but I am a little taller than the average trooper (I'm 6'2" and 225) and I am on the wait list for RT-Mod armor. I made my decision after reading that forum thread and looking at a lot of build threads and EIB/Centurion applications. Good luck, and again - welcome!
  9. Dave, you've pretty much heard all of the pros and cons. LoL For the pipe build, you basically need to add a piece of PVC pipe to replace the barrel assembly (and all of the other pieces above that Vern pointed out). It will require some drilling/cutting/shaping, but since the inside is a larger diameter you can put the electronics into it more easily - as has already been mentioned. Look at some build threads of pipes and see what is entailed, gauge your skills against what is done or see if you have someone that will help you I suppose, if necessary. Having said all that, I'd personally go with the pipe for the anti-Hasbro conversion reasons that have already been stated. If nothing else should you ultimately decide to go for EIB and Centurion, you'll have to completely replace the E-11.

    Funny mix-up

ROFL... Aren't you a little radial for a Stormtrooper?
  11. Granted, I'm no expert, but reading the CRL you must have the pauldron and ammo pouch if you're building a TD. Backpack and weapons are optional but encouraged. So the answer to your question is: Yes. You can build a sandy without backpack and still wear pauldron and shoulder-pouch. To state it accurately, if you build a TD, you MUST wear the pauldron and shoulder pouch. You'll find as you do more studying that there are a lot of "odd" uniforms and armor configurations that appear on screen in the films. Even though they appear on screen though, that doesn't mean that the particular configuration is acceptable for 501st approval. The CRLs are always going to give you the guidance that you need to complete a uniform for basic approval (and higher levels where applicable). If you pay attention to the movies, you'll see TKs with no tube stripes, no mic tips, tape on their armor, missing pieces, etc but that doesn't make it acceptable.
  12. Nicely done. As good as it did look, those tweaks are very subtle improvements!
  13. Excellent build and an excellent build thread. My E-11 Doopydoos is paid for, but no word on them regarding shipping just yet - so I'm going to go with "It's on the way" for now. As a result of this, I'm truly grateful for this thread. I'll be referencing it (and others, of course - so many great builds to look at) when I begin to assemble mine in the relatively near future. Thanks for sharing!
  14. Congratulations, Steve!! From my first post here at FISD, you've been a standout to me, as a Trooper helping Troopers (and prospects). Thank you in advance, for all of the good that you're about to do in this posting!! In my humble opinion, I think that this is an excellent choice in many ways.
  15. Thanks, Glen!! Happy New Year tou you and your family as well! Happy New Year, everyone! May 2014 bring us peace, prosperity, and wellness throughout the Empire!
  16. It isn't on EVERYTHING, but there are some useable shirts that I saw for sure. Not sure how long it lasts, but if you go to their website it's right there on the main page. Just wanted to share the news for anyone that needs to get or replace some undersuit parts.
  17. Excellent project to have been a part of! Congratulations Trooper(s)!
  18. Ordered mine this week. Can't wait for them to arrive!! Good luck with your glue!
  19. Awesome indeed!! Merry Christmas Troopers one and all!!
  20. Excellent work as always, your instincts serve you (and all of us) well....
  21. If this were on Facebook, I would "like" it so much. LoL.
  22. Looking good! I'm taking note of all of the sequencing that you have stated in your build so far. Looks like the start of a great build thread. Thanks for the detailed notes and good questions.
  23. Ooooooooohhhh... What kind is it? Congratulations!!!
