  1. +1 for this. I think you'll all begin to tolerate them soon enough...didn't the CTN feel the same way about the animated clones back when they came out? Now look at how many of them there are. If I was a member of a detachment, I'd be thrilled at the idea of getting a new costume to emulate, and would want to see as much of that as possible. +1 for a Youtube channel. I notice a lot of garrisons have their own channels, but it would be cool to see one, centralized channel for FISD troops. Also, I'd like to see more attention given to Instagram. I'm on Facebook quite a lot, but Instagram is a close second. I'm not a member of FISD, nor the 501st, but it's entertaining to follow both groups.
  2. Looking great man. And your entire setup looks like the same exact shade of white, despite having parts from all those different vendors. Did you paint the whole thing? Anyway, should be an easy pass as soon as you're of age (and I can't say I've ever seen or heard of an EFX / RS combo before... )
  3. I dunno man. I never heard of it, but that just might be because I don't look into Iron Man costuming. But I hear you can make a respectable looking suit out of EVA foam for a far less amount of money. You might get a better answer asking this question on the RPF.
  4. I find your lack of ear screws disturbing.
  5. This is really cool. You did a great job with this! Eager to see it finished.
  6. Picked up some Brahma boots at Walmart. I read somewhere that they're acceptable for use with Deathwatch costumes.
  7. I do like this idea, and will try it once I get some free time. Thanks for the tip
  8. +1 for Scootch. Really good for the price, plus it's one of the more accurate kits if you're into that Here is the link to his sales thread. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/23949-cap-helmet-kit-run/
  9. Good stuff. Now if only I could have put this to use at the beginning of my project
  10. Thank you sir, I try my best. I'm calling this helmet 95% done. The whole thing is clear-coated to protect the acrylic I have on there. I have the visor loosely installed with velcro, but I've yet to find a way to permanently hold it in place. Super glue doesn't work and I ran out of E6000 (but I doubt that'd work either). Thoughts from any of you Mandalorians who happen to be looking? Shown next to a CAP Stormtrooper helmet for size compari -- actually, I just wanted to show off a little....now I have two helmets "ready" for trooping
  11. Here's a quick bathroom selfie to show a little more progress (flipped the image to show what it would look like if it weren't in a mirror). Tidied up the "paint drips" and added a 5th black finger print-looking thing next to the handprint to match the reference picture a little more. Darkened the handprint with black acrylic and did a couple blackwashes to bring out the weathering a bit more. I'll have a visor installed tomorrow. I've got a lead on an armor kit which I'll be buying from a fellow garrison member within the next couple weeks.
  12. I don't think it looks that bad to be perfectly honest. You guys'll have another costume to create and add to the roster, you should be excited about it!
  13. You have your preference, and I can respect that. To each his own. Me, I'd feel inadequate in my EFX or in an AM kit (both of which I consider "idealized") if I stood next to one of those fancy-looking Centurion troopers. That's why I rock the ATA suit and upgraded my bucket to CAP and haven't regretted it since. The EFX looks like any Stormtrooper helmet to the untrained eye (the public, and 90% of Star Wars fan pages on Instagram...ugh), but as you stated it all comes down to personal preference. Hell, I think the best use for it would be to convert it into a decent-looking ROTJ, but that's just me. Over time, I think you'll come to appreciate the wonkiness that helped make the original Stormtroopers so iconic. If not, we don't judge. We're still all just a bunch of adults putting on plastic suits for fun (and the charity stuff is a nice bonus).
  14. "Idealized," huh? My "idealized" EFX helmet just came back to haunt my thoughts after I had forgotten about it.
  15. Hah! That was entertaining! I wouldn't call that spam Subscribed to your channel I noticed one of your mic tips wiggle a little bit around a minute into the video, you might want to secure that. You'll also need to paint those ear screws and thigh rivets white. Other than the things you listed, I don't see any glaring problems. Just those little things I wish I could sit down in MY trooper suit... :,(
  16. Thank you Todd. I've got some work done on the helmet done today. Here's my first attempt at weathering. I used metallic silver for the base coat, and dabbed toothpaste on the spots I wanted to look like paint chips. I might re-do the hand print in a darker shade of gray, or maybe even a black. I used acyrilic paint for that so it should come off easily enough. Pointers and critiques always welcome The paint drips on the left cheek are intentional.
  17. Yes, I know my Magma Trooper's not done yet! But working on that is a pain in the an impolite person, so I'm going to be working on something new until I summon the willpower to finish the TX. Today's another brown box day, and I'd like to share with you all what lies within: Eternal Armory's v 1.0 Deathwatch helmet kit. Size comparison to CAP Stormtrooper and Rubies Jango This is the guy I want to emulate: Wish me luck!
  18. For you, I'd say either AM or RT-Mod. You can find their contact info here: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/
  19. I suppose you could convert an ATA suit into an ROTJ using some white boat trim as a border for the necessary pieces. Also making sure that the ab plate buttons are in the right position. You will also need to find different thermal detonator parts. CFO's your guy for that. I dunno about the helmet though. I've never seen an ATA painted up with a ROTJ scheme, but I don't see why it couldn't be done. If I were you, I'd just stick to ANH stunt considering that you want an ATA. Less work to do that way.
  20. I love watching these Death Troopers come together. Eager to see what you do with this. Following with interest
  21. A lot of the Mercs write backstories for their custom characters. Interesting reads.
  22. That's great news, Karin! Very eager to see how that turns out
