I always recommend gel sole inserts. It is amazing how much longer you can troop with those things. I even wear 'em in my Vader boots!

I posted this on the Legion boards, but wanted to post it here as well for my FISD brothers. A fellow member, Scott Magerfleisch of the Mountain Garrison, was personally responsible for ensuring that I was able to return home on schedule from CV earlier this week. The story goes something like this: I had arrived at the airport for my return flight and as I was preparing to enter the line to check in I realized that I HAD NO WALLET! That means no ID. That means no boarding the flight until I can obtain a copy of my birth certificate or a passport, both of which were at home. A quick call to the restaurant where I ate breakfast came up with nothing. Then I called Scott to see if he was still at the hotel. He was, and he convinced the manager to let him into my room to search for my wallet. However, it wasn't there. Then the driver of the taxi called the hotel to say that he had my wallet and was bringing it back to the hotel. I asked Scott if he was willing to head to the airport early to bring me my wallet. He had a ride booked later with Mears but would have to write off that ticket and take a taxi to make it in time. He agreed. I checked with the airport to find out that I had until 1pm to change my flight or lose my airfare. It was 12:40. At 12:52, Scott called to tell me that they just passed the 5 mile marker to the airport. When he arrived at the airport he convinced the taxi driver to watch his stuff on the "A" side while he literally RAN to the "B" side where I was already queued at the front of the check-in line. At 12:59 I heard Scott shout "STEVE" as he looks for me to hand me my wallet. At 1:00 I checked my bags. At 1:50 my plane backed away from the gate with me on board. THANK YOU SCOTT! Now I really know what the FISD tag-line really means: "Troopers helping Troopers"

I'll be there to make sure our esteemed leader plays fair in the Troop-Athlon. All FISDers should show up to cheer him on. Friday at 11am. Be there!

... or a trooper who did a full body slide after slipping on the concrete floor while playing Laser Tag at C-IV...
-
Bring it!!!
-
True, but keep in mind that I could also get down on my knees behind the shorter barriers too!
-
I played for 16 hours at C-IV (not all the same day...) and it was a blast. However, it was well lit (no blacklights) and the stormtroopers could take 10 hits before a kill, while the "civie" players were out with three hits. So the most fun part was charging a guy at close range knowing you could take him out while you were "protected" by your armor.

Thanks for your service, Tony! And good luck to you, Brian!

Welcome, Phil. It's always good to have a new garrison mate in here!

Wow.... wait til you guys have kids in college... $$ btw, a good babysitter will run you around 20 bucks an hour in the Minneapolis area... also, wrt prepping for a session of working on armor, i have the same problem when it is time to work on my motorcycles, especially when my kids have borrowed my tools and forgotten to return them to the right place... or that certain bolt you need to replace is impossible to find...

Greg, this makes me feel right at home!

Hey Bernard, a while back a guy mentioned this as a joke, but then posted a pic of him in 1/2 black body paint in a historical re-creation event. I told him I'd be willing to try it on a hot summer day, but he never took me up on it...

Scott, I was AWOL over the weekend. I still have this locked and loaded on my calendar!

Airport security and armor/buckets
TK4999 replied to Thanos's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
I agree with Simon: be honest about answering every question. I used the term "movie props" when talking about my armor and blaster. I flew to both C-IV in LA and CE in London with my TK armor, and the security folks were all very professional. Most of them don't really want a hassle, so being pleasant and honest seems to work best. The only surprise I got in London was only being able to carry ONE bag on board my return flight, so I had to chose between my bucket and my laptop... -
Way to go, Scott! I can hear the song playing in the background... We... Are... Fa- mi- ly! Brothers and sisters are we! Nice work!

Congrats, Paul, and thanks for your "vision" for what this place could be.

And there is another.... Licensed Costumes

Whoah! Now that is an understatement! This might be a whole different deal than a Rubies Stormtrooper... The public reference to the name Steve Sansweet is telling. It makes it seem like he directed these guys to make this acceptable to 501st members. So imho we might "ruffle some feathers" if we refuse membership to anyone who buys this... unless it is really bad... ... Interesting indeed... -
Congrats on your new commission, Terrell It's great to see the continuation of excellent leadership in our humble little detachment. And thanks to the "ancient ones," Paul and Ed, for their willingness to continue to contribute to the FISD in a significant way!
-
Ed, it has been a pleasure serving you in FISD and trooping with you at C-IV! I know you won't be too far away, since white armor is in your blood. And best wishes in your new garrison commission!

Well... the reason the Pats "couldn't get anything going" was because the Giants' defense kept them from doing so... I bet Brady was pressured more in that game than he has been all season. So while it is true that the Pats were a better team than the Giants all season (as anyone who watched them would agree), the Giant's defense made them the better team last Sunday cuz they STOPPED the Pats offense.

Congrats, Dave! The Clone Emperor is indeed very picky, so you have accomplished a significant milestone! :vader1:
