  1. LOL, same here, but for a different reason: it covers up my... ummmm... OLD face...
  2. Life pod? Who said anything about a life pod?
  3. DxMN, Bernard, I am getting to like you more and more. Not only do we vote the same, but our reason is the same... AND... you have the coolest avatar! TK in action... gotta love it!
  4. Well, then, I guess I am in the right place with my TK armor! (The clone armor still looks cool, but I am already old enough to "stick out" even in the TK group!) AND, thanks for introducing me to the "secret" icons!
  5. Well then, I am old enough to be your father... Hmmm... the Legion has a MINIMUM age for admission... I wonder if there is also a mandatory retirement age? Let's hope not... OK, that does it! I GOTTA get me that drinking face icon. That saluting one isn't bad either! Also, Bernard, my complements to ya for thinking about us poor slobs while you are sitting in a bar. Someday, maybe we'll have the chance to join ya!
  6. OK... my story is not much different than you guys... Had the exact same experience as TK2011 during the opening scene of ANH, but mine was in 77. Some time later, I saw a full set of TK armor on display and FOR SALE at a Sharper Image store in one of the big malls. I just stopped in my tracks and stared at it for the LONGEST time. But the display model was less than 6 feet tall, so I despaired once again being so tall, figuring that there were no "tall sizes" available. That and the $1000 price tag had me leaving the store just lusting. However, every now and then, I would check back on the Sharper Image web site to see if the price had declined at all (which it never did). Eventually, I gave up. Years later, someone I remotely knew bought a set of armor and sort of blogged his way through the assembly process. So then I knew that there was still possible to get armor, but it still seemed beyond me. After all, once I got it, where would I wear it? Then... one day... something "magic" happened... While trolling eBay again, I found a link to the 501st. Holy crap! There are THOUSANDS of guys who are into this. And there is an actual organization that provides opportunities to not only WEAR the armor, but actually do some good while wearing it. I was absolutely and totally hooked. I made a decision right then and there that I was going to become a trooper. My wife and kids think it is a form of mid-life crisis. LOL I heard one trooper call it "scoff and awe." Initially everyone "scoffs" at the idea: some dumb costume thing. But then they get a look of you transformed into a trooper: that is when the "scoff" turns into "awe." I love it EVERY time someone sees you for the first time. Nothing beats it. (As you all know...
  7. Dude, you must be reading my mind. I have had that same exact thought... but then I think I should will my armor to my son. He is already 6 feet tall and still growing,..
  8. Hey Stixx, I love that pic! But would the paint "rub off" on the inside of the armor? Would the pinching of armor pieces be more extreme? On a hot day, you might be able to see the sweat, which the UA can wick away. However here in Minnesota, this time of year, the only way to go is a black smoothie wet suit. Toasty!
  9. Then my order will be going in now! I wear a size XL. Does it come with the logo? PayPal is my next stop.
  10. What sizes are available? Are the four being made with or without the padding?
  11. You lucky dog! I hope someday I can introduce my wife to yours... Happy birthday!
  12. Holy crap! You guys are really good! Fast! Thorough! Helpfull! AND... you put up with wienies like me! WOW I am now prepared for my punishment... "Thank you, sir, may I have another?" Crap.... my freaking computer did it to me again... dropped the line just as I hit enter on the first post... didnt get it back up til just now... so I send the message again... seeing that the first one actually posted... oh man... am I gonna get it NOW... At this rate, no one will want to troop with me... "It's OK, now... just put one foot in front of the other... like this..." <trooper does a pratfall>
  13. Holy crap! You guys are just TOO good!!!! Sorry for being such a wienie. I mis-read the posting, thinking the Legion boards needed something different from this one. I am prepared for my punishment... "Thank you, sir; may I have another?"
  14. Just sending a test message to see if this works... I didn't... what am I doing wrong?
  15. That's close. I haven't actually made a measurement, since I don't know how close the two pieces of armor are supposed to be. Do they touch when you are standing?
  16. True, I do not need more circumference in the thighs. My FX kit aleady had the larger thighs, so they are fine. I do need shimming in the calves though. I have attached a picture of me that has a good shot of my legs, if that helps. -----------
  17. Crap. I can't do anything right today. Let's try again... Yeah, the real issue for me is the legs. The ab/back plate has LOTS of extra material to cover my torso, although I must admit that there is very little to spare. The arms are the same way since the bicep plate can extend fairly low beneath the shoulder cap (where once again I use most of the available space). But the gap between the torso/thigh and also the thigh/shin plates is where I have the problem. In a perfect world, there would be longer parts for both, since my sniper plate is below my knee. So "surgery" is really the only option. I am not sure, however, that I could do it well enough to avoid an ugly horizontal seam. Do you know of anyone who has done that successfully? By the way, regarding being a killer Vader, I also have a Vader as well, however, it is not yet official in the 501st. I am having the leather garment tailored a bit since the former owner had more substantial "girth" than I do.
  18. Crap... that is what I meant. As you can see, my computer is having problems today...
  19. Awesome dude! Lightning fast service. I am TOTALLY impressed with you guys! This detachment may be the largest, but it is gonna be the BEST! My contribution is on the way... This is AWESOME! Lightning fast service. I really appreciate it. My contribution is on the way...
  20. OK, I admit it. I jumped the gun. I signed up for the forum while my membership in the 501st was still pending. So I opened an account with the "Newbie" user name. Bad move. Now I want to be TK4999, because that is who I am now. I tried to create a new user but it bounced me since I want to use the same email. So... someone needs to blow away my old username so I can start over with my new name. I looked but could not find a way to do that myself. Can you help me? Thanks, Steve "Commando" Carter TK4999 501st Legion Central Garrison
  21. OK, I have already been asked "aren't you a little tall for a stormtrooper?" I am 6'6" and just received my armor. I plan to enlist in the 501st when my pics are ready, but am concerned about all the "blackness" between the armor parts on my legs. Are there any tall troopers out there who have stumbled upon or invented interesting mods to help "close the gaps" a bit? Thanks, Steve Carter
