  1. That's what I thought, and the photo of an ANH E11 at sci-fire.com shows a counter (but no wires or cylinders). You may have picked up an ESB hyperfirm - I have the ESB version and can personally attest to this.
  2. Perhaps, but the EI standards don't require a specific wire thickness. The only thing that needs to be done to an out-of-the-box ANH-style hyperfirm to qualify it for Expert Infantry is adding the D-ring, which you've done.
  3. So is that how the originals were glued together - with what we now call "ABS paste"?
  4. Aside for some rough trimming and sanding, I imagine you wouldn't need to cut either down at all.
  5. An RT Mod chestplate also works well, and if you go that route you might as well swap out the upper back and shoulder bridges as well: Also, swap the shins - move the sniper plate to the other shin and wear it on the left leg as you normally would. It'll look and feel more natural.
  6. Also, replace the AM handplates with a set of Karin's handplates.
  7. With the iPad2 out, it's only a matter of time before the fire sales begin on the iPad1. Unless the v2 has some must-have new features, I'd wait a while longer for the price to drop, then pick up a v1.
  8. If you got it from Tupperwaretk, then you have an AM kit. Seen this thread yet? It's quite handy for guiding smaller guys in getting an AM kit (which out of the box is better suited for bigger guys) properly fitted, and it should answer your questions. ------
  9. I have definitely got to find an opportunity to troop with the Pacific Outpost sometime soon. Looking forward to seeing a link up to the rest of the photos.
  10. What kind of kit do you have? Also - got any photos of you wearing it? The butt plate should be strapped to the kidney plate by use of three elastic straps. Depending on your kit and how you choose to strap it, the two could be strapped via brackets affixed to the return edges, internal snap plates, straps glued directly to the armor, or even velcro (not recommended).
  11. Agreed. I've had a few break on me as well, they are both strong and brittle. Handle with care.
  12. Looks good. Remember, if you need an extra set of hands I'm right down the street.
  13. I'd love to see this up close sometime - I'm in northern VA but I try to get up to MD to troop with OLG at least once a year. Do you plan on trooping with this, or will it be a display-only model?
  14. Nothing except for adding the D-ring.
  15. Appearance-wise, it's not a huge deal with the shins. Comfort-wise, it will likely make a difference. The sniper plate rivets can be removed and the holes filled, and assuming you used E6000 you can carefully pull apart the shins, clean up the glue residue, and redo them. Try walking around with the shins on the opposite legs (i.e. putting on the shin with the sniper plate currently attached on your right leg) and see how it feels. If it's not a noticeable difference, then might as well leave it be.
  16. Please refrain from using ALL CAPS in your posts - it is commonly interpreted as shouting. Thanks.
  17. From one serviceman to another - good luck, and Godspeed to you.
  18. Thanks for providing the experience-based insight, Smitty.
  19. How do the satin gloves feel on you? Grip, breathability, etc.
  20. Since the discussion has now begun in the Det-only area, I'm closing this thread to avoid splinter debates.
  21. One of the ways I pack my rig: Lately I've been packing it more like A.C. does, with my E11 blasters/holsters nested inside the shins, the shins nested inside the thighs, and the thighs contained clamshell-style within the body, with the back/kidney/butt on the bottom, and the chest/ab on top. It also leaves room at the bottom for my forearms/biceps/shoulders nested inside each other, my thermal detonator and cuffs inside the forearms, and my belts and boots on top.
  22. I haven't heard from Tony, but Julie did post on the Legion board that she was fine, and set up on high ground.
