  1. Get your torso lined up such that the gap is equal on both sides, then measure the gap. If it's less than 1/2 inch, you're fine. Although by the looks of it I'm thinking you'll be fine without shims. Especially considering that you're wearing a t-shirt as opposed to your undersuit - and a tight undersuit will help to reduce your circumference.
  2. John Danter, you seek. ------------
  3. Maybe this will help? ------------
  4. 6'3, 210lbs, and a sizeable budget. Ever considered building a Vader? But I agree. AM seems like your best bet.
  5. Looking good. If it works for you I'd suggest bringing in the drop boxes so that they align with the belt edges, and at some point picking up a set of Karin's handguards. However, neither should affect your submission. Also, thanks again for the binders - they're a great prop and a big hit at troops.
  6. Well said. Although we are a global organization we are still required to conform to local laws, especially regarding firearms (real or otherwise), and each locality is different. That is also why, per both Legion policy and the Legion-approved CRL, blasters are not even required for basic membership. http://www.501st.com/databank/Weapons_policy http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_anh_stunt
  7. I just read through the thread, and it looks like he will be at least selling finished helmets. 1mm HDPE seems pretty fragile, though. Definitely a collectors helmet, not a trooping helmet.
  8. The only "Hero" is in ANH, and it specifically refers to Han and Luke when they were disguised as stormtroopers on the Death Star. So no, there is no ESB Hero.
  9. You look like you stepped right out of the game. Well done.
  10. I use an RT Mod chestplate, and it works well with my AM kit. I also did a photo comparison of the two in my build thread. http://whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=11333&st=20
  11. Very cool, the level of detail captured is insane.
  12. I also noticed the way the backs seem to be permanently affixed versus free-floating. If that's truly the case then you would not be able to put the armor body on clamshell-style, you would have to pull the upper body on over your head like a tank top with the lower body held up by suspenders. That would suggest a completely different strapping system from the ANH suits. Since these were reused ANH suits, it doesn't seem plausible to me that the costume department would rework the strapping system.
  13. I'm doing a review of the ESB CRL prior to it being published to Legion and I noticed that for the shoulder straps it says: Shoulder Straps: â– These shall be securely mounted in front and may free float in back. They may be affixed with rivets, Velcro, or adhesive. â– No visible rivets are allowed. â– These shall free float in back. â– These shall be glued in front. â– Straps shall not have a white elastic band securing the shoulder straps to either the chest/back.: That last one surprised me, as it's a departure from ANH. I looked through dashrazor's high-res screen caps, and I didn't notice any elastic so it seems to be borne out. Still, the caps were a bit too fuzzy when you zoom in close to tell for sure. Anyone know the definitive answer, supported of course by the appropriate photo documentation?
  14. Great post! It sounds like you took your time, considered your circumstances and options, and came to a well-considered solution. Can't ask for much more than that.
  15. Like Vern said, you can do either. Personally, I think gluing the thigh backs shut results in a cleaner, more streamlined look.
  16. Man, the bar just keeps getting higher and higher - reminds me that I need to submit my Centurion photos while I still can. All jokes aside, a job well done.
  17. Sorry, I've been tied up on other tasks and wasn't able to close the remaing polls (HWT excepted) and post results this weekend as I intended. I'll get it done tonight.
  18. Wow. Well-done, and I'm looking forward to seeing the fully-finished product.
  19. Post here----------- Once you get access, please see the Detachment Only area as soon as possible.
  20. Looking better.
  21. Beautiful rig! I really like the weathering job you did on the TKBoots - not too much, not too little.
  22. EI standards don't specify either way. That tells me you can keep all, some, or none of your return edging - totally up to you. Even Centurion only mandates the removal of return edge at the wrist. If you want to go to total screen-accuracy, that's another matter.
  23. Yes, there are sellers here who build hovis with speakers embedded in them. However, the smaller speaker also means lower sound volume and quality. An important distinction when in noisy and/or crowded environments (for instance, cons). Plus, I've found that from normal speaking distance (3 - 6 feet), you can't tell if the sound is coming from the helmet or the chestplate.
  24. Mine are brass - they look different due to the poor lighting in my garage and my crappy iPhone camera.
