1. I was not actually a big fan of remodeling the rubies blasters due to the amount of customizing needed but you make it look fun and easy. I am totally lovin this project. Looking forward to the scope mod for sure. No advice yet, I think you are doing great. I may try this with one of my disney blasters. Enjoy the beach!
2. This is coming along really well. Love the mods you have done. Impressive!
3. Great work on this. Weathering looks nice and lovin that display stand with lights.
4. Will you make the prism cell for your kit as well? Great news you got the optics working. Not an easy thing for sure. Looking forward to seeing how your light socket bulbs come out. I made some strides eliminating bubbles but can't get the bulb to cast in full, always a small chunk missing due to trapped air.
Congrats on the optics!
5. Not sure if this would be helpful but I have seen people use this stuff on their 3D printed props to lessen the need for sanding. https://www.smooth-on.com/product-line/xtc-3d/
6. Congratulations and honored to serve under your command this year!
7. this is the tent pole bag I am using, pretty much ready to go. Only need to custom stitch the ends to make it look like the prop pack. very cheap too seeing you only need to have it shipped locally. http://www.sofmilitary.co.uk/canvas-storage-bag-for-us-army-small-wall-tent-poles-product,17044
8. I used a bag for tent poles made of the same material. Think it looks good, just will need weathering to knock the color down to a browner shade. I have left mine the normal canvas green for now, still looks alright, my only concern with your bag is the length. Is it long enough to wrap around the three sides of the grenade box?
9. Super cool! Will you be producing the wire clip too for your scopes? I am not attempting to remove my wire clip when molding to add one later and think it would do more harm on a resin scope, too fragile I imagine. But for your kit, this will be another amazing detail captured beyond anyone's dreams. Were you able to get the prisms made too?
10. Great. That will certainly solve any bubble problems. If you mass produce them and are willing to sell them separately from your kits, I might be interested if my resin ones continue to fail.
11. The bulb has been the hardest part for me to cast because of using clear resin. Without proper pressure casting it holds all the bubbles. How will you replicate the bulb? I am looking into having it done professionally but the cost is super high here. Really cool to see you got the wire clip off too. First time to see that removed.
12. That looks great! I am hoping to get some of his parts soon once I am able to save for them.thanks for sharing this.
13. Discovered my latest M19 mold did not cure properly in two spots . No idea what went wrong, Big waste of silicone. Going to have another try once new silicone arrives. More casting of the small parts and M38 scope this weekend when time permits.
14. Holy cow! Great to see you can bore through and make these like the original. Best I have ever seen to reproduce these. You have certainly taken this project to the limits.
15. Thanks darthcue. Feeling better today. Test casting with new resin tonight when I get home. I made new molds over the past few days for each scope. One checked last night and it looks good, the second mold to be examined tonight. For the smaller parts, it still always a 50-50 chance to get usable castings with my molds and setup. The exterior surfaces are almost always flawless but the undersides have air pockets ranging from tiny to large depending on how much air gets trapped when I seal each mold. Since I am not pouring into spout holes because the milds are small, I pour into the base mold and cover it with the other half. There are air release spouts to help air escape but some always gets trapped. Post up photos in the coming days to show those air pockets. Sorry I am not able to meet my kits yet but hope to have better news soon after I get some more parts casted. Cheers.
16. Tokyo Disneyland is now selling the park exclusive E-11 blasters. I asked about stock and they said they will have them available for the next month or two at least. Not sure if these are hard to get at the other parks right now but if so, I might be able to swing by there soon and buy a bunch of them for troopers in need.
Shipping might not be cheap from Japan though. Cheers.
17. Looks very good. Hope this works out .
18. Been sick the past week, progress almost at a halt. Waiting on some new black resin I want to try from a local vendor. Smooth On probably is the best I can get but the expired Onyx I have now is like working with glue, thickening too quick before I get to pour into the mold. Once some new stock is imported I will try it again. For my M19 light socket bulbs, I am going to try using a heat gun and perhaps some spray on alcohol to attack the bubbles. Waiting for the heat gun to arrive this weekend. In the meantime I will be casting some smaller parts over the weekend to build up some stock so I can pick and choose the best parts to put in each kit.
19. OMG! My heart literally stopped seeing this. My prayers are sent.
20. Super Tino! Truly blown away by how great it looks, and even better with all your blasters now on display and with all your other treasures on the bottom shelf. Gotta build one of these for sure. Bravo!
21. Have worn my armor since spring 2014. It was doing fine and flexed well but recently I found that it cracked when flexed by normal wear. My armor was made when the RS guys were just two of them pumping out armor. The armor is rather thin in some areas were it should not be so maybe that is the cause. Possibly the PVC they used at the time has a short life span for durability. I have given up on doing any type of fused mending as it does not act like ABS so I am sticking with supporting the underside with gluing on additional PVC strips with E6000. Looks messy underneath but seems stronger. Cracks are still there but as far as I know the wont spread any further unless the support strips give way. Worrisome but I guess its the wear and tear that is causing this withe the material not holding up. I also made my armor very tight fitting so that puts certain areas under stress when I move. I might reinvest in another armor set in the few years time.
22. Sorry John, I dyed my pack so I can't see the writing anymore. Its a shame the guy can't send a pic. Have you considered getting one from Colemnas in the US? They are the large ones for sure. The straps are the only thing you will have to source separately.
