  1. I always wanted to have something made like that to create the knurling pattern. Excellent work. What metal and machinery did you use to make it? Guessing you will be making one for the sight guard as well. Looking forward to it.
  2. Ian, your slider buckles look amazing. I ordered gold ones too and hoped to try something similar but in a moment of panic I requested the shop send me whatever brass ones they had left and the rest in gun metal. They ended up sending me all gun metal. Rally cool effect that super blue gives. The buckles look field tested and aged. Thanks for sharing your results.
  3. Thanks. fingers crossed for the next batch of silicone. If all goes well, I hope to be able to supply you with one soon!
  4. Possible part to use for the antenna cap: http://www.decorcable.com/Products/Product-Details?productId=3002&catalogId=14 I found a very similar cap at a local home center by me which has a smoother surface. It is just an end cap found on metal hooks that affix to some sliding track system for hanging stuff on walls . I haven't bought it yet cause the hook costs about $8.00. Hoping to find a similar hook at another shop for much less with the same end cap. If not these, the Carl Stahl ones look good. A bit too rounded on the top but I guess that can be cut or sanded to look flatter if desired. Brake line cap ends look interesting too: Or these Black Silicone Caps ID 4mm 1/6" Vacuum End Plug Tube Covers: Just sharing these and hope to hear your thoughts on all of them. Not claiming these are the found parts but merely good substitutes if the actual prop part is never identified.
  5. Thanks for your patience. I will try to get the molds completed soon and update this thread when there is progress to report. Hoping the new molds produce more predictable, proportioned parts to make assembling these scopes trouble free.
  6. Please read below! Thanks for expressing interest in my scope kits. Hope I can offer you a kit very soon. Please read below. Wow, 2 kits, I need to get these new molds made on the double! Hi Kev, Brian and Ted, I am in the process of making new silicone molds for the M38 scope kit. I have some kits remaining but there are few parts on the kits that have issues I am not happy with. I tried recasting them this weekend and discovered issues with the silicone I was using. It shrunk a bit too much and the small parts do not line up as they should. I feel it would be better to start again at this point with new mold using a better silicone I found to be more reliable. If the kits cast as planned, they will be $30.00 plus shipping. shipping cost is about $8.00-registered & tracking, this also includes the paypal fee. If you can wait I should be able to get the new molds made and parts casted within the next week or 2. Faster if I get free time after work. I can offer you the kits I have in hand but consider them B or even C grade due to the quality of the smaller parts. PM me for the pricing if you wish to go that route.
  7. As Chris said, very impressive work. Must have been a bit ad to flatten that stock but it was not in vain. Sometimes you have to do the unthinkable before you can move ahead. At least you have a healthy stock of spares!
  8. Awesome! Looks super cool with the lights. Honored to have one my scopes on such a great gift to your son. Thanks for posting this!
  9. Great idea Christian, very creative thinking! . I was also looking at mechanical pencil end caps too but found nothing exact. Love how it came out.
  10. Christian, it looks great! Job well done! I hope my pack will as nice as yours. Love the canvas roll and the antenna tip. Just needs to get dirty now and you are all good!
  11. No problem. Not sure if I helped with any 3D printed sites but if I did, no sweat! Four doopy builds already? awesome. I am finding it hard to get my second blaster kit off the ground. Happy you like the ejector port mod. It doesn't look as pretty underneath, lots of messy resin to drill out to get the metal plate to slide into place correctly. If you try it and need a hand, shoot me a message. I might still have a partial plate made somewhere. One thing about being a trooper you can never have enough weapons in your arsenal!
  12. Hi Joseph, That photo is of my blaste ejector port. I hand cut, shaped and assembled it. It is just a thin piece of aluminum with an added strip glued on top of it. The extractor pieces are bits of PVC covered with aluminum sheeting and I used brass tubing. If you go to my blaster build you cn see how it was all done. Wasn't easy but a second try would go smoother. I only I'd this cause I wasn't pleased with the doopy set up so I wanted to add more realistic details for the port. Got out of hand you could say. All of this of course was Tino inspired. His blaster mods helped push the limits on what you can do.
  13. Nice work on this! Looks great. Wish I had my own personal 3D printer make try it out. Thanks for making the 3D model.
  14. Sorry, one last thought on the top end cap of the antenna. I was thinking that since they used a fishing pole for the antenna, maybe they used other related fishing parts that were available to the prop makers. I had a look on line and found a few flywheel fishing reel handle knobs that look very similar to antenna end cap. <br> I will try to find a way to post the pics I found. Not a perfect match but maybe it is a clue.
  15. For the antenna wire photo I am talking about it is in post#14 of the Rogue One Backpack found parts thread. But Mr. Paul, I now see that you may be correct that it is hot glue not an actual wire. My eyes were playing tricks on me with all the lighting in these photos. Sorry for the false alarm.<br><br><br> For the strap slide adjuster I am talking about it is the last photo in post#14 of this thread.
  16. An observation I made regarding the antenna wire is that there seems to be a wire running through it or something like wire. I am unable to post the exact photo to reference but I can clearly see something protruding from the tube near the bottom. You can see this in the photo taken directly behind the display with the whole pack in view and the black tube is hanging down, not tucked into the pack as it is supposed to be. There is another side view photo where you can still see the protruding wire-like material. Maybe this was inserted only near the bottom of the tube to keep the tube in place. Or it runs through the tube making it easy to wrap it around the fishing pole so it stays in place better. Just my thoughts and observation. <br><br> Strap slide adjuster observation- Also there is another photo from the rear right side of the pack giving a close view of the bottom right of the M75 frame. In that close up photo you can see one of the ladder style strap slide adjusters which is antique brass in color. It does appear to be weathered a bit revealing a plain metal color. Could this indicate the slide adjusters were painted? The cam buckles also look like they may have been painted flat black or dark color. Sorry I can't post the photos but they are in this thread somewhere and in the rogue one backpack found parts thread too. Interested to hear opinions from the team and anyone else. Apologies for posting this ahead of those parts being formally posted by the team.
  17. Agreed. I also was thinking that any gloss tubing or wiring could be dulled down with weathering. The pinching is a tell tale sign of the material. I want to try and order the fuel line stuff I found but my investment in building this pack has taken its toll with shipping costs. If I order it and get it in hands, I will report my findings. Looking forward to seeing how you dye the Alice pack and how to get that orange patch look on tha shoulder strap.
  18. Just to add to Slyfox's tube post, I found fuel line tubing from a Japanese vendor here. Not sure if it is good though but it is 5.5mm OD and 3.5 ID. Looks to be more flat black. Any thoughts? I do think Slyfox's find looks amazingly accurate though. <br><br><br> <a data-ipb='nomediaparse' href='<a data-ipb='nomediaparse' href='http://carburetor.ocnk.net/product/603%27' class="bbc_url" title="External link">http://carburetor.ocnk.net/product/603'>http://carburetor.ocnk.net/product/603</a></a><br><br> Sorry the link doesn't seem to work when I add it from my ipad so you might have to type the address or try cut and paste it.
  19. Henry, how much of the cotton olive drab strapping will I need to order? 10yards or just 5? Also not sure how much I will need for the two straps that hold the Alice pack to the frame. No time to get to Tokyo to look for this stuff, easier to order it and have it done with. Any advice for ordering the lengths on these is greatly appreciated.
  20. Fantastic! I don't like it, I love it! You got skills Fernando! Nice job on this!
  21. I have been looking into what kind of material was used for the antenna wire and came across a few items that may work for this part. These are just my ideas, not actual used parts on the movie pack.<br><br> Already posted this one in the celebration thread but thought to add it here.<br> 1. Aquarium air tubing . Very cheap, matte black color, roughly 5mm OD. Walls are thin so some additional thinner tubing would be needed to run though the tube to make it look better where it wraps around the pole. <br><br> 2. Actual electrical wire- if you can manage to remove the inner wiring the rubber insulation looks the part for sure. I was not able to do this successfully but maybe there is a way to do it. The parts I did remove the Irving looks really good.<br><br> 3. Fuel line hose- this seems to be close to the electrical wire idea without the wire! Thick 3mm walls as the celebration pack team recommends with an OD of 5mm. It even comes in a slightly thicker 5.5mmOD x 3.5mmID if 5mm looks to slim. No chance to get my hands on this yet but will update if I do. <br><br> Top antenna cap is tough to pin don but from the photos it looks like the very bottom of the cap tapers in a bit . Sort of appears to be a soft material like rubber not harder plastic. Wish there was a better photo of this to study.
  22. Nice find on the chin cup. Almost looks like they dyed the strap. Weaving does look different though.
  23. Thanks. Cool to know. Wish I would have collected stuff like this a long while back. Could make a fortune off of these things.
