  1. Most use Rustoleum, I've had massive problems with that paint so I used automotive acrylic paint in spray cans, worked well for me and can be buffed.
  2. Just wanted to share a few photos from the weekend, it was our first opportunity to get 3 of the 4 approved FOTK's in Australia together at the last ever Dream World Star Wars weekend, we were also joined by a very moody person in black . I must say I thought trooping as a FOTK was great in the past but when you get together with your brother FO's it's just an amazing experience. A great event which I have had the pleasure of attending on two occasions, a shame the mouse has decided not to allow this event to continue. 3. Great work, sorry I missed this one, was already booked for Dreamworld QLD. I will be definitely watching to see if this one goes ahead in 2017
  4. While waiting for my ATA armor to arrive I started a few projects, made an E-11 upgraded Hasbro, a pipe build E-11, a DLT-19 and a T21, still no armor I started making binders and offering them to the squad. As all these builds had been completed in such a short space of time I soon became known as the squad quartermaster and just as in the Bond movies this got shortened to Q. Never had a nickname before being part of the 501st so I'm pretty chuffed to have one now.
  5. Cod, glove/fingers, shins, boot covers, there are a few differences
  6. Thanks for posting this Sly, has worked well for a few of us in the past
  7. Congrats once again Trooper and welcome to the 501st
  8. Have come across that a few times, you can purchase a new battery from the Icomm website http://store.voicebooster.com/replacement-icomm-battery/but it's too expensive for us guys over here for postage. Got this tip form Sly from the Redbacks and I've fitted a few with a AA 3.7V battery, works just as well and as it's mounted on the outside we can remove for charging. We use the same batteries in our blasters too so always have them on hand.
  9. For ABS plastic I use E6000, takes 24hrs to fully dry but you can separate if you make a mistake or resize, also cleans up by rubbing off.
  10. Nice work, can't wait to get my hands on an ABS version
  11. DSS TROOP REPORT EVENT: Starlight Day at Princess Margaret Hospital LOCATION: Roberts Rd, Subiaco DATE: 6th May TIME: 2pm - 4pm LANDSCAPE/WEATHER: Indoors CHARITY: Starlight foundation (as part of Starlight week) POINT TROOPER: Liz TROOPERS: TK85421 - Q - gmrhodes13 TB13310 - Liz - Liz WRANGLERS: - REPORT: We arrived at 1.15pm and after seeking a change area from PMH PR we kitted up. We headed with a trolley full of Star Wars loot to the Starlight Express Room, full of younglings, parents and quite a few Captain Starlights. Lots of younglings were drawn to the baby Jawa, must be something about those glowing eyes, definately can't be becasue of how it smells. We spent a lot of time chatting with the younglings before playing a few games, musical statues, which our Jawa wasvery good at, also bingo just to name a few. I had the opportunity to help hand out some prizes to those on the wards who had won bingo, lots of smiles and more photos, amazing how many nurses are used to Stormtroopers walking thehospital corridors ;)/>. Back to the Starlight room to find one of the younglings had done an amazing drawing of a Stormtrooper, had a photowith him proudly holding it. It got to 4pm and it was time to close the Starlight room, another rewarding troop, it's a great feeling to know you helped put smiles on some younglings faces. 15. I tried the force once, lucky there's a cream for it
  16. All you are doing is trying to stop the crack from opening again, ABS would be best but any tough plastic should do the same, plastic container or plastic sign may work. I would glue with either E6000 or a two part epoxy glue, rough up both areas before applying the glue will help it bond.
  17. Lots of options depending on experience. You could glue a piece of plastic behind then fill the crack with a white silicon, if you use a water based silicon you could wet wipe off the excess. A little more adventurous would be fill behind with fiberglass mat and resin, then fill the crack with auto filler (bondo), sand and paint, but then you would really need to paint the whole helmet to match properly.
