  1. I think in Star wars Canon it must be the FNG that did not get stripes, so the rebels could shoot him first! You had to EARN your stripes! lol I think the lid looks unfinished, but I can see it's appeal. And it is so obviously in the movie multiple high profile shots, I do not see why it should not be allowed. The sith lords have a similar issue with the cape hook on ESB vader armor. They are dead set against allowing for it even though there are multiple shots of a hook on the Vader armor in ESB. The argument is that that was the Stunt Suit, and for Vader they are after the 'As Intended" I.E. the Hero Suit not the stunt double suit. Granted a faceless TK is a little different than a Main character.
  2. This is not bad as far as Ebay armors go, but there are some things to consider. He says its High impact Plastic..If that means HIPS then its more fragile than ABS. The belt has 4 rivets in it, a TD would need to get rid of that. The knee is a TK knee and depending on how it was attached could be a bear to remove and yes I know TDs are dirty but a screwed up shin is going to look crappy since the diamond knee wont cover it. For the amount of work needed to fit it to you and make it a TD I would suggest looking at getting a new set of armor from a vetted maker here. But as I said as far as EBAY armors go its not a bad one, and the UKG is notorious for being accurate on their builds. It seems the guy is trying to honestly represent it. Thouhg I find it odd he is referencing a Hero helmet but the helmet shown is a stunt...
  3. Well EvilBoy and I are in the same garrison, but he is waaay up north while I am waaaay down south, so it is possible at some point we will be side by side. Of course my RS is a sandy which may obscure details. I am happy that we are going more and more towards accuracy, and away from the FX as time goes on. I can not say one way on the other on the NE origins. I have not seen one close up, and I do not have the level of experience Troopermaster does when it comes to these things as I have never molded/sculpted/pulled anything like that in my life. I am sure one day an NE will be compared next to an RS, it may not be Mine and Jonathan's but someone somewhere will do it never fear.
  4. Don't mind the FX armor so much, but that helmet is godaweful. Makes me cringe when I see troop photos of Good lids then BAM there is an FX lid photobombing in the background. I know there are some people that simply wont give up the ol FX bucket, but man that thing looks worse all the time. Edit: I can see why this would be of interest, as we should all care where the hobby started and how it evolved.
  5. RS is made for someone about 5 foot 7 and 150 pounds. Skinny 70's English actor build. That being said I am 6 foot 1 and 230 pounds and the RS fit fine, though the torso needed side shims. The untrimmed kit I got from them had lots of extra plastic on the legs and arms so fit me fine. If you have really really big arms and legs it may need some shimming. The plastic is 1.5 mm PVC which is shiney white, or 1.5mm ABS which is a little off white. The PVC tends to be more resilient, but the ABS is easier to repair cracks in if they happen. If you want prop replica its RS as their suit is directly molded from a real suit, with some parts that were missing on the real suit molded by them. I have no experience with NE. -----------
  6. That's why I switched my RS plates with Yours Karin Great looking Suit! And fits you well. I do wish RS would make a unique inner and outer shin mold you could have the option of taking since their suit has double (inner or outter I forget) which make the shins look a fat. This is especially highlighted in someone my size where you can see the shins are pretty fat on my TD (RS Build), vs my TK (TM Build). Only thing I would say, and this is just an observation, but I believe the thigh ammo belt was held on with a cap rivet not a split rivet. Edit: Never mind see you know that already
  7. Here are the shots of mine painted with semi gloss black. No I'm really not that bad of a painter! The cast is just nice and rough as is fitting of a "quick and dirty" background stunt blaster. I did no clean up of the mold what so ever, since I wanted it to look as wonky as the one the mold came from. I did drill a hole in the end where the real Pugman has one for the barrel.
  8. Sorry, My first response came out a bit harsh. I did not mean it to sound like I was Bashing. Some one put a lot of effort into this, and while I am not sure the thought process of going to all that effort when there are better/same price kits out there, I salute the attempt.
  9. I got an RS PVC suit that started life as an ESB, but after getting A TM ABS suit I decided I liked the more movie look of the ABS. My Shiney then went sandy, which is probably a first RS PVC as it started: How he ended up: and the progression: You can see the difference in the PVC and TM ABS in this pic where I am still wearing the PVC Belt and Handplates from RS, but the ABS armor from TM (I had ordered the armor as ANH, so had to wait for my TM ESB handplates and belt to come in) Also that's an RS ABS lid so you can see the RS ABS is not quite the same as the TM ABS, and actually is a closer match to thier PVC. I Have worn the PVC several times and it has cracked in stress zones( crotch chestplate arm holes), but minor return edge cracking that was easily repaired and could have been due to me leaving too much of a return edge (My TM has less of an edge). I also think it could have been do to the stress of the pack/ weathering. I got a bit heavy handed with the dabbing off of the paint when it was laying on a cement floor, and probably put more stress on it than needed. My RS ABS lid cracked at the cheek tubes when I was putting the S trim on (was a very easy and unnoticeable fix with ABS paste). My TM has stood up to repeated troops with no damage. Not sure if the RS ABS is just more fragile or what. Both my RS PVC armor, ABS Lid, and TM are supposed to be 1.5mm. If I had it to do over I would get the ABS as its a lot easier to fix cracks with ABS paste on ABS than to have to cut and glue a piece of PVC to the back of the crack spot (PVC wont melt in acetone like ABS, so no way to make a paste, acetone just makes the PVC soft). I don't think you can go wrong with either choice, as I am at least 95% certain the stress cracks are my fault as I never had any cracks until my first TD troop.
  10. IN ANH the armor was not acrylic capped, it was sort of off white ABS while the lids were painted over Khaki "fishpond" color plastic. As a result the helmets were a brighter white than the armor. That being said, Krylon Fusion paint is amazing stuff and sticks very well to plastic, if you decide to go that route. My RS painted lid does not match the Armor, but I think it looks great. YMMV.
  11. Looks great! I too have an TM ESB (with RS Lid) and I love it! Looks and feels great. Yours fits very well, no one builds TM armor like TM... Great work!
  12. and WTH is with the electrical tape.... And he has the thighs on sideways with the fronts on the sides.... Anyone who falls for this deserves it I guess...
  13. RS Fishpond stunt helmet inside: RS Empire Strikes back inside:
  14. I know there was some discussion on the torso since it had odd placement of the bars for the loops and bar assembly, that it may have come from early Elstree before the vac table went kaplookie. It really is too bad that you cannot pin down things for sure since there are no makers marks. I have stared at the picture there of the TDs forever as well and never picked up on the mis match. I just noticed it on the move along since I was staring at it trying to match weathering. Funny how somethings can jump out at you when you least expect it....
  15. Yes the torso was a sandy torso as it had the sandy details, and no evidence of Tk details ever being on it. The arms/legs except the left calf are from either TK or TD suits there is no way to tell. The left calf is reasonably sure to be a TK calf as the sniper plate left glue residue that matches the TK Sniper not the TD sniper. The belt can be seen in the Tantive boarding scene. Easy to pick out because of the wonky holster. They had an almost complete Suit, its just made up of parts from different ones.
  16. I have a troopermaster hero lid (see sig) and I can say it is completely excellent. I also wear glasses and can wear them with the hero lid. I can also wear my glasses with my RS lids. Never had an ATA so can't say there.
  17. I was doing research for my Sandtrooper and after staring at screenshots for weathering/assembly accuracy I noticed this on the RBC: Check out that right thigh... Now here is RS Propmasters suit thigh: Hmmmm...we know the torso was a sandy, and at least one calf was a TK (glue residue from the Sniper knee). What are the odds that the Iconic Move Along Sandtrooper was the user of the right thigh? Pretty low I am sure but it does look darn close to me...
  18. I have rs and tm I like both but tm was awesome with me and his fits much better on my larger frame. I am turning my rs into a td since the pouches pauldron and back pack hide the gaps. I do have three rs lids though. Love those things. I also have cfo and if you like rotj its top notch.
  19. good luck, sorry to hear of your troubles, hopefully all will be ok.
  20. maybe its one of those old 3d prints...you have to sorta stare at it and unfocus your eyes for it to pop out....
  21. So did you just force the ab level then belt really tight? What keeps it from going back up again? I have tried doing that myself but the ab always pops back up when I move. I may have to try again with a really cinched up belt.
