  1. Yup, that is identical to the MRCE of a few years back. Research any of those threads (No'l's being the best) and you can see any number of ways to mod it up. If you can find one of these for $100 or under, it's a decent project, especially if you are looking for something more accurate to replace the FX lids. However, at it's current price you can get better helmets that require less work. I have one of the MRCE and once you finish the mods it is a pretty solid and durable helmet.
  2. Looks pretty cool. I like the camo jumpsuit, seems to give it a bit more realism.
  3. Some extra tips.. -Drink lots of water, remember this is Florida in August, HOT! -Sorry UKG'ers, but if you get overheated dont' be afraid to take your helmet off. Nobody wants to see a passed out trooper. and the most important tip of all... -Have fun!
  4. I had my first troop in 2 and a half months yesterday and I could definitely tell a difference. My whole armor felt much looser, and I think everything was looking better.
  5. Great info, this should help me out a lot! One silly question, I have to ask... how do I know whether I have latex or non-latex? I seemed to have forgotten to ask before now.
  6. This is the type of caulk I picked up. Did I just get the wrong kind?
  7. I got a set of Karin's amazing latex/non-latex handguards, and I'm trying to figure out how to put these to use. After some initial research on here and discussions with others, I was recommended to use caulk. So I caulked (hehe.. sorry it's funny to say that aloud) up the gloves and handguards and now nearly 3 days later I have created a mildly sticky mess all over my gloves and the backs of my handplates. Personally, I'd rather not have these attached directly to my gloves. The stress is just too much when I take my gloves on and off, it's much easier for me to do the old-fashioned strap over the palms. It seems that best way to do this would be to attach the handplate to a small piece of plastic and attach my elastic straps to the plastic. My question is what is the best glue/epoxy/caulk/whatever for attaching these to a piece of plastic?
  8. I'll be there! I wouldn't leave home for an event like this without my Legion name badge. I look forward to meeting lots of FISD Troopers
  9. 2 years this month!
  10. For me it comes down to being such a huge fan that I wanted to make at least part of the saga come to life. Even to this day after being in the Legion for 2 years, and practically living on sites like this, I still geek out when I see the costumes. I love seeing the kids faces light up when they see us, and see the adults turn back into kids Add to that, being part of a group that does so much good for the community, and it's a complete win-win.
  11. The only paint code I can ever remember is the Testors Grey #1138. It just seems so appropriate.
  12. For the Humbrol paints (or similar) you should check out a hobby shop or model shop.
  13. I just wanted to make a post welcoming TD/HWT-2918, Brian aka TKrestonVA. Congrats, now go blast that Rebel Scum!
  14. I think you are about the same size as me. I'm able to wear most helmets, although I wear glasses I have to take them off to fit into the helmet. It's a snug fit, but not uncomfortable. Also, like others have said you can adjust the fit with the construction and placement of padding.
  15. Hope everyone had a happy and safe Fourth.
  16. I'd approve your suit in a second Brian, but it's up to Thomas since it's technically an EU build.
  17. Starting to make small changes in an effort to get a bit healthier. I've really tried to cut down on my soda drinking. I've gone from 3 or 4 a day down to 1. My lunches at work where I used to drink a 32 oz. soda, I have now changed that to Iced Tea, and I'm drinking a lot more water. My caffeine addiction (and boring job ) wont allow me to cut the sodas out completely, but I'm already feeling better with just cutting it down. Next step is to start working in an exercise regimen.
  18. Totally agree, it should be a light weathering, but not "dirty"
  19. I'm definitely interested in this!
  20. Sorry to hear that you had a 2nd crash, but I'm glad to hear that you weren't hurt as badly as last time.
  21. I use CA Boots. I would not buy from them again, the fit is really tight around the ankle making them hard to take on and off. The color doesn't seem quite right for my armor and the company's customer service and ordering left a lot to be desired. I'm definitely trying TKboots first on my next kit.
  22. AM is on the list for my next kit as well. So I can't wait to see how this goes. Brian, if you still have the extra Sandtrooper parts from the kit leftover, I may be interested in them.
  23. I have black rubber gloves that I've started using recently. I do tend to sweat a lot in my armor. The gloves aren't too much of a problem as long as you aren't taking them on and off a lot. Adding some powder and washing your hands after you change will help with the nastiness.
  24. I have the same setup. The only issue with Velcro I can see is it could possibly put too much strain on the front seam on the thighs, if you open them up a lot and open them very wide. I've had to reglue my shins several times because of this.
