  1. Happy Birthday!
  2. I was born in Vegas, but we moved when I was 4 so I don't know much from a local's point of view. I went there shortly after my 21st birthday and had a lot of fun. Sadly, it was a Monday that we were there and most of the shows were not running on Monday. Fremont Street is a lot of fun, even just cruising the Strip you'll see lots of sights and interesting things to do.
  3. Does this mean you got promoted?
  4. Thomas, the LMO, has been commenting that he thinks the pauldron should be worn in the standard TD style and both shoulder bells should be present. Should this be included in the CRL or is it still being worked out with Thomas?
  5. The suits are looking good!
  6. I'd keep things pretty simple. Pay off all my debts and my family's debts. Buy a nicer house than the matchbox I currently have Buy a decent car, I've always liked BMW 3 series and maybe a classic like a mid 60's Mustang for fun. Probably just travel a lot, and of course hit up all those fun cons I see pictures of online.
  7. Whether you call them Handlers, squires, wranglers, costume support, whatever, they are absolutely invaluable to a troop going off well. Even something as simple as a photographer to capture those great moments is helpful. We usually have a good team of handlers with us at troops. My wife, who is Rebel Legion, only likes to dress up occasionally so she is usually a handler for us. Events with little kids it's especially helpful to have someone there with you, because once the kids get close you can't see them! I've smacked kids in the head by accident (lightly) and nearly tripped over a kid because I couldn't see them. So, that extra set of eyes is extremely helpful.
  8. Took the words right out of my mouth. The ROTJ look is a look unique all to it's own and this is the best example of that I have ever seen!
  9. Wow! This is a level of detail that is outstanding and awe-inspiring. I have a few questions about the strapping setup. Forgive me if these have been asked already. Are suspenders used in any way in this setup? I know a lot of troopers connect suspenders to the top of there ab and kidney plates. Also, the top straps connecting chest and back, those are canvas or a canvas like material, right? I'd seen that MEPD has adopted that as part of the deployed status. How wide are those straps?
  10. Here's a photo from an original ANH suit to give you an idea
  11. Looks good. Which Vader is this? The only one I'm good at spotting is ANH.
  12. Happy Birthday!
  13. Happy Birthday Brian!
  14. The only time I didn't get all sweaty while dressing out is when I was changing in a parking lot while it was snowing on me. The armors looking good on you, looks like you are nearly there!
  15. Depending on the thickness that you need. People have cut up For Sale signs, trash cans like Brian said. I found some plastic sheets at an office supply store, it was like a presentation board. You could also look for plastic sheets in hardware stores or hobby shops.
  16. You could look into shipping your armor to your hotel. I know what the airlines charge for fees and shipping might be cheaper. Something you could look into.
  17. I believe only the dome has been tweaked at this point. The face and back are still the same out of proportion designs.
  18. I had to cancel my volunteering, there was simply too many things going on for me to keep up. I am still volunteering with the Legion, and I have a few other surprises planned.
  19. I think John D hit the nail on the head. LFL turns a blind eye to us because the makers don't advertise and generally don't make a profit on there items. That's part of the reason we don't publicly post armor makers names or contact info. We play by LFL rules, they don't bring in the lawyers. The Recast debate is more of an "honor among thieves" kind of setup. We like those people who are a part of the community, help out, give back, do good work and we generally honor there craftsmanship. It's hard to have these kind of debates without going into armor history, which we all know is a complete mess due to *_ _* among others.
  20. Looks good, the Officer is deceptively simple.
  21. All the Vader's in my Garrison use cooling vests. Usually they aren't able to troop for longer than 3-4 hours at a time.
  22. The Galactic Academy for those who are not yet 18 ---------
  23. Looking good there! Now, I had finally convinced myself that I didn't want to go this route for my next armor kit. This thread is making me think otherwise..
  24. Thanks! I don't have any elastic holding the chest and back together, I just have the normal strapping running over my shoulders, but nothing at the bottom of the chest. It's all in my shims holding the front and back tight. You can see the velcro on the backside of my ab plate where the sidegap shims pull everything together. Like I said, it's a weird setup and I don't think I've ever seen anyone do it quite this way. It works good for me, my only real problem is sometimes my ab plate will want to come out from underneath the chest plate sometimes.
  25. This is me (I'm the TK obviously )a few months ago at Free Comic Book Day. I'm about 6'-1" and probably in the 220 range at the time. My construction is a bit weird and different from others I have seen. I don't have any straps connecting the kidney and ab plate, instead my shims which close the gap between the front and back are helping to keep everything tight and in line. I hope that makes sense. I have seen some larger troopers who are able to make the armor work. It really is just finding a way that works for you and fits you.
