  1. This is an interesting thread. A good philosophical bone to chew on. I think the issue is not hoarding absolutely vs. sharing absolutely. Rather it's about gathering information and then disseminating it carefully to those who - through some mechanism - are deemed "worthy". Universities do it all the time. They have tons of information, but they spoon it out only to those who pay tuition. At work people share information with colleagues - with the hope and expectation that the favor will be returned. FISD offers plenty of info, but only those who make the commitment of logging in frequently and reading the threads reap the rewards.
  2. Good luck! TKs are great. TKs are awesome, but you could also do C3PO.
  3. I second that! I think it would be appropriate for command staff to codify the ear markings. To go even a bit further, I think it would be interesting if they administered (awarded) the ranks.
  4. You're finally on vacation? That may be why you cannot sleep. The change of routine may have removed the usual triggers throughout the day that eventual signal your body to go to sleep. The only remedy: take more vacations.
  5. Have had armour for 5 years, but have been a 501st member member for 0 years. Long story. But hopefully someday I'll join 501st....
  6. I have an SDS Battle Spec helmet. I like it. The proportions are good, and it seems sturdy enough. But now that AA offers it in kit form, go for that. You'll certainly do no worse than the assembled ones. With my pre-assembled one, I've had to drill the teeth better, paint the frown, replace the lenses, and file the eyes wider. But other than that (ha!).... I like the milk hue of the SDS white. Not sure how it compares to the FX armour. It'd probably be good to have them match.
  7. At the risk of sounding soft on rebellion... Happy 4th of July everyone! Just think about how differently the American Revolution would have ended if Emperor George III and his PM, Lord (Vader) North has TKs - with E-11s blasting - at their disposal. (I don't think a single American soldier would have been shot during the entire war)....
  8. I appreciate the challenges there must be to create a costume that can survive on stage and provide maximum mobility for performers. You have my respect - I can scarcely handle a staircase wearing my armour. The Disney armour veers a bit off course because, like FX armour, it's an artistic interpretation of the stormtrooper. It hits all the big features, but it lacks the troopers' essence. I would think audiences would pick up on this. First off: lose the helmet. Can't sugarcoat it. It looks like a Rubies. The eyes and dome shape are off. The bridge of the nose/snout seems pushed in too. The breastplate is off in a curious kind of way. The sides are cut too wide. Reads more like a tank top than a breastplate. And the cod piece is kind of cut too wide as well. The overall effect is that the troopers look more like they're wearing white leotards than armour. (Probably not great for instilling fear in the masses). If these suits have to be designed for maximum mobility, maybe they ought not to be made of hard plastic (heresy, I know). Go for 100% accuracy, but reconsider the material. Perhaps a semi-rigid plasticized foam with great memory might fit the bill (at least for the armpits and hips). How it's done, I leave to others of a higher pay-grade than I.... Good luck...
  9. Wow! The work "bench" is a masterpiece. Thanks for the inspiration....
  10. In thinking about this, it it surprised to realize how integral the TKs are to moving the ANH story along. They are way more than props and pretty close to being one of the stars of the movie. Rather than just one scene, it was the whole package that sealed the deal for me. The scenes that inspired me are: Tantive IV "Look sir, droids" "We don't need to see their identification." TKs around the M. Falcon while it is being scanned. Luke and Hans in the control room/detention block/garbage chute and finally when Obi-Wan is explaining to Luke about the damage done to the Jawas transport "Only Imperial Stormtroopers are this precise..." (Obi-Wan is the first and last person to compliment TKs on their aim).
  11. Well done. An excellent capture. It's good to see that the tractor beam is working properly....
  12. I keep the scuffs and dirt. I'd rather not appear to be just a toy soldier.
  13. The 13 year old is only 6 inches tall?! Yikes! ('=foot; "=inches) LOL Hasn't anyone seen the movie, Spinal Tap?.....
