The ears are really f*cked up. Try to contact the maker (tupperwaretk was one of them I think?) for new replacement ears. As already mentioned: decide which TK version you want to build: ANH Stunt: Grey frown, handpainted details ESB: Black frown, ESB decals RotJ: Black frown with a black edge around it , RotJ decals So far you got a RotJ frown with ANH style decals and black painted ears (no ears were painted completely black)

Also: The armor does not look like AP to me, or am I the only one thinking that the helmet looks suspiciously like NE ? Biceps and forearms are definitely too loose, as might be the thighs. Get us more pictures and we will provide a better review

Armor Review Input Welcomed!
Minuteman replied to Stormy1992's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Go with ATA or MTK, or every other reputable maker. Really. CTM uses recasted molds, and I´ve seen some older pulls. They were very soft, lacked detail and..... yeah, they are simply recast, the stolen work of somebody else. Do yourself a favour and get a good kit with good service and reputation. Just my 2 cents. -
Thank you guys! Yeah - the brackets If I had the 1,5 mm set there would be absolutely no discussion. Brackets all the way. In fact I´m just waiting for Paul to answer my question if he has made good experience with the brackets on the 1,0 mm suit. But for the moment this will not keep me from building, I want to drill the holes and install the screws either way, the brackets can be inserted afterwards too. So stay tuned ;-)

Finally I got my hands on a new set of armor. And it is not just "a" set of armor, it is TM´s 1,0 mm suit, uber accurate and flexible and glossy and .... white and I like it Okay, the money I wanted to spend on a driving license for trucks is gone for the moment, but hey - I have one of the best armors on this planet. A big thank you goes out to Paul for creating such a beauty and finishing the job in such a short time, and also to Dr.Senf for initiating this order. Already got ahold of Newey size 4 hooks and eyes that I got from a guy in Latvia. Somehow strange. How do those british hooks find their way to Latvia?! Now they are in Germany. Also size 10 snaps for the shoulders are in my posession, a garrison mate will provide the brackets with nuts and screws (if I decide to go for original strapping), split rivets and cap rivets are bought. The elastic and fabric has been bought according to this wonderful thread: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/26477-what-we-know-about-strapping-snaps-rivets-etc/ Karins new autehtic line handguards are also in my posession As a glue I won´t use steelmax 1985, because that seems to dangerous to me double-left-handed-fool, but I will use the white E-6000 that I found on US ebay. Some very inspirational threads for me: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/21390-geaux-saints-anh-stunt-build-tm/ http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/22261-simpixels-2mm-tm-anh-stunt-build/page-3 http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/26815-tm-anh-stunt-build-by-dday/ http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/19905-rs-prop-masters-abs-build-with-the-hdpe-helmet-rs/ Without further delay - unboxing time <3: And at last some comparison shots of my old AM and the new TM. So to say compare a Fiat 500 to a Rolls Royce First thing to start on will be biceps and forearms, updates will follow as college allows

TK-5906 Requesting ANH Stunt EIB Status [MTK][372]
Minuteman replied to TK-5906's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Very nice work there! Just get some rubber gloves and latex handguards and you're good to go for Centurion! -
He was not very pleased that I asked him about his helmets origins there either. In fact he "forgot" to say in his first post, that his source was an "original, badly damaged helmet". That's just crazy not to tell the public. Also he die not post any pictures of his "original". So after all this stays highly suspicious to me

The people at the prop department in 1976/77 were not that carefull when putting the armor together as we are today. You will find many configurations on how the armor was assembled and the coverstrips were cut. I would say in my juvenility that this will not keep you from approval/EIB/Centurion, but will be recognized as a nice eye for detail Do your thing

Armor suggestion for a female trooper
Minuteman replied to sl-3983's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
If you choose the fully built option, that is true. But you said in your first post, that price is an issue? The Mercedes of trooper armor fully built could cost you a little more than an ATA, MTK or T/MC. But RS would be a great choice after all :-) -
Armor suggestion for a female trooper
Minuteman replied to sl-3983's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
ATA also sounds like a good option, beeing the cheapest armor available, but with a 6+ months wait list. Forget SDS. The assembled version is crap, although it sounds tempting. If you want to join the 501st, reach EIB or Cent here and FISD and troop, I would recommend you to leave SDS behind and listen to the good advice on these boards. -
Compared to what is available to the community they are inaccurate after all. So for the "normal" fan they are great as a display, but for our hobby here.... Na.... There are far better options and some on a similar price level. Just look at ATA and CAP-W.

Ericia's AP ANH TK Build
Minuteman replied to aicire's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Unpacking time always has the two sides of a medal to me. On the one hand you are like "WOW, this is freakin cool " and on the other hand I sometimes just want to run away, afraid of messing it up You´ll get over it and build an awesome TK, I´m sure -
Or ask Vern for the firehose

Kai Hirt does some great work. When I come home I will send you his contact info, if I find it on our GG boards
-
Look closely on chachovs products. I know some members, who were neither satisfied with his product nor his service. Better search longer than pay twice.
-
Felix, you´re on the right track In a few years maybe I will follow you as a RotJ trooper. For the moment ANH and the TD are my only love The RotJ E-11 could become a difficult one to build, because it is based on a different sterling version (the canadian MGC I think?!), than the L2A3 of the ANH version. So a doopydoos kit could become a hard task to modify RotJ-style. Look out for the hyperfirm version, but I don´t know if it is still produced.. Chelsea or jodhpur boots will be great. Will be following closely here and on the GG forums. Keep it coming young aspirant

No need to ask this in 1000 threads. FX armor is outdated and looks like crap compared to good kits like TM, RS, AP, ATA etc
-
It's far from accurate, absolutely outdated and not in production anymore. Only cheap recasts are produced. There is far better armor out there for a comparable price.
