  1. So basically looking at Ingrid's build, the only solution is shim and glue the crap out of it. I was afraid someone was going to say that.
  2. Very inspirational. I really want to do a Canadian one soon.
  3. Hi all, I'm starting the part I dreaded for Centurion - the sniper plate. So this is where it's starting from, seem to be that I need to bend the outside edges of the sniper plate so that it conforms a little more to the greave itself. It flares about 1/2" bigger than it should be I think. Any thoughts on that? Aslo what's the best way to glue this sucker on (so that it can survive a troop)? Also this seems to be the right angle for me to attach it. What do you think?
  4. Thanks to the rivets from seantrooper I was able to knock off a couple more things on the Centurion list! So close now all I need are the rubber handguards and fixing my sniper plate and I'm done.
  5. Trust me we've all done the bodysuit and balacalva at some point while waiting. Haha. It's called the "TK Ninja".
  6. Don't sweat it right now. Finish armour first then upgrade later.
  7. I prefer zipper myself. Darman or Debbie make the best ones imho.
  8. I like my 9V the speed makes it feel like air conditioning in there. Haha. It doesn't seem to interfere with my VOX but I can't really hear out that well.
  9. It's a good question because I used VOX and only once has it ever clicked unexpectedly (when I sort of made an "omph" sound while jumping off an escalator). I personally love the VOX - no issue so far even with two squirrel fans blowing right at it.
  10. Well I updated my decals to Dave M decals. Man that was annoying. I wasn't prepared for the decals to be THAT stretchable. Anyhow I got them on, not perfectly but they look okay.
  11. Hey Kevin, loving your armour. AP is an excellent choice. You have a good headstart with the RTW. With a few mods you'll be EIB in no time if that's your wish.
  12. If you fit your ab to kidney plate well enough in a clam shell + a harness system, the belt basically just keeps everything in place. The TD then tightens everything. At least that's how mine works now. I can literally jump up and down and the body section doesn't move at all.
  13. Believe it or not the neck trim I find makes it easier and less painful. Especially the S-trim.
  14. The problem is that cutting your cod piece is not correct. The issue is that "some" TK's do that AFTER they get approved not before. Which is also not correct by the way but these are the TK's that are not going for EIB/Cent after.
  15. Why hold the cod piece and ab with elastic? Have you tried plain webbing that gives you no elasticity? This is how I hold my kidney to butt plate, and for my harness. There is no elasticity so it gives you a rigid hold but also flexibility. Ultimately the best thing is to reconnect.
  16. OMG, I love how I learn something new everyday. So I do NOT need to paint my tube stripes based on the requirements. Thanks jeebus. Because I can only imagine the smudging that would occur over time. Just so y'all know when it comes my time. There will be no painted tube stripes. Besides honestly - if I were to actually do it. I would do it straight and perfect, especially with the template. No offense to the Dave M decals but the tube stripes on it are a little TOO "wonky".
  17. You know what's the best part of being part of a close knit group of TK's? You work together on a lot of things. For instance, Charles painting my rivets for me (we both got a set). Can't wait to have them in hand and cross out that "to do" for Centurion.
  18. And wear your boots if you have them when fitting.... everything is connected to everything else. Until you figure out the nuances of your own unique suit, better to do it this way.
  19. Yeah +1 with what Vern said. Humbrol is definitely paler than Testors.
  20. Jealous! I will be in the USA. I wanted to be one of the first to see Charles' armour - take lots of pics!
  21. Once you get the S-trim on you can use superglue every 2 inches or so on the inside, don't overdo it. It will stay on.
  22. About time! Just kidding Charles. I am expecting great things from you. As for painting, layer thinly. Better do a few layers than try to cover all in on go. Lid looks great already. Oh and for S trim start under the vocoder, because if they dont join perfect at the end you cant see it.
  23. The point is Sorran is that armour does NOT look good. There are numerous issues with it and we haven't even had a close up view yet. You don't care today. But you will care once you actually learn more about trooping and accuracy. Then you'll be wishing that you'd spend that $600 (USD I think) on a better suit of armour instead of jumping at the first thing that looks "legit". We've seen this dozens of times, it's good advice from experience. It's not B.S. nor creating a monopoly. Your initial comment about "not caring" is not a good way to start your reputation on FISD or the 501st. Here we DO care. So in other words in one sentence you've managed to insult about 1000+ TK's that call FISD home.
  24. I do this too if anything to keep the chest and ab straight.
  25. Question are those side rivets okay for Centurion Mathias?
